Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751471

  • Stop Light Switch
  • Roadmaster

Avoid damage to your towed car by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

Features:

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom-fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Works just like it should on my 2022 Jeep Cherokee.

by:

Works great on my 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Makes the tail lights work as they should.

by:

Turned out I didn't need this kit for my application. Quinn F was very helpful when this was discovered and was able and was able to grant full refund for the returned kit.

Worked great

Still working great, in fact added another unit to second vehicle

by:

This product worked exactly as described. Some things to be aware of.
1. It's a yellow dichromate plated solenoid. Not plastic grey. Nice
2. The video for the 2018 Cherokee shows a 4 bolt brake booster. 2019 Cherokee has a 5 bolt brake booster that has a black plastic frame. Use the same bolt location in the video and it works great. You'll need a deep socket and extension. 13mm.
3. PUT the solenoid on BEFORE attaching bracket. If for some reason you forget, Have someone depress brake pedal and then there's plenty of room to install.

by:

The product showed up at the time I was told it would. I installed it and it fit well and seems to be functioning as it should. I have a couple connections to finish and than OPS check. I used this switch instead of looking for a hot brake wire for my brake controller. No one wanted to touch my Jeep to wire the brake controller in as it did not come with a factory hitch and wiring, and that included the dealer! So I added this switch and now there is no need to do anything with the factory wiring! That eliminates the computer on the Jeep from thinking it has a problem from hooking up something extra it was not expecting.

by:

The instruction video was the biggest help. Because I’m very visual without that I’m not sure I could’ve done this. It turned out great and I’ve not had any issues in the last year.

by:

I’m thankful etrailer has the parts I need along with easy to follow videos for installation. However, I was disappointed that although the parts were in stock it took a week before you shipped them out of your warehouse.

by:

Never seem to be disappointed - great service and written instructions with excellent photos. Videos are great also.

by:

Great instructions and videos.

  • Installing Roadmaster InvisiBrake And Wiring To Flat Tow A 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
I reached out to Roadmaster and spoke with my tech contact. He said that the information your were given was absolutely untrue. You can use the following systems with LED lights without any issue whatsoever on your 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trialhawk. The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751471 is needed when using the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700. For your lighting I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 that...

  • Will I Get The Death Wobble When Flat Towing My 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk?
The part you are referring to (Mopar's 68321424AB) was indeed a fix for certain models and years of Jeep Cherokee that were experiencing the dreaded "death wobble", but your 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk does not fall under these years. Those years were from 2014 to 2018 and the issue has since been resolved, so it will not be needed. This means that once the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate # RM-521451-5 is installed, along with the rest of a full set up I recommend listed below in...

According to my research, the Mopar Flat Tow Performance Kit 68321424AB is no longer needed on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee as it was for previous model years because revisions have been made to the power steering system to aid stability. That said, only the models with Active Drive II Transfer Case can be flat-towed which I believe is only available on the Trailhawk. I have attached some parts you will need to flat-tow below if you are interested. Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar part...

If you have further questions on this process then please refer to the owner's manual for the vehicle which lists the entire process, step by step. • Supplemental Braking Recommendation for Flat Towing a 2015 Jeep Cherokee
I did some checking and it looks like your 2015 Jeep Cherokee has vacuum assisted brakes. The most popular supplemental braking system we offer is the Roadmaster Even Brake Part # RM-9400 this system applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. The brake switch wire on your 2015 Cherokee that you will need is a dark green/light green trimmed wire. Look for it on the brake...

Only 4x4 versions with the 2-speed power transfer unit can be flat towed. Front wheel drive (FWD) models cannot be flat towed nor can models with the 1-speed power transfer unit. • Is the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit Needed to Stop Wobble on a 2021 Cherokee?
From what I could find out, the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit will not be needed for a 2020 or 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This was only a requirement on a 2014 to 2018 as the issue this was designed to combat has since been rectified. If you have not completed your flat tow set up as of yet, the following will be some recommendations to get you on the road. One of the huge pluses with having a Jeep is they are one of the most common vehicles to flat tow. With that being said,...
