From what I could find out, the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit will not be needed for a 2020 or 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This was only a requirement on a 2014 to 2018 as the issue this was designed to combat has since been rectified.

If you have not completed your flat tow set up as of yet, the following will be some recommendations to get you on the road. One of the huge pluses with having a Jeep is they are one of the most common vehicles to flat tow. With that being said, we have install videos for almost every one of these recommendations as well.

First, the etrailer.com Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # e98951 is designed to fit your 2021 Cherokee Trailhawk and will bolt directly to the frame. Next, you will need a tow bar that will attach to the # e98951.

The etrailer.com SD Non-Binding Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # e34ZR will have telescoping, self-supporting arms making for fast, easy hookup. This also includes safety cables, so you will not need those separately.

From here, you will need some flat tow wiring. There will be a few options available depending on if you will be using a braking system, which I do suggest, or not.

If you will not be using a braking system, the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 will get the lights working and includes all the needed diodes. However, you will need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to fully complete the install.

If you will be using a braking system, you will need the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. You will again need the # RM-156-25 to complete the install, but this will include all other needed parts to get the lights and braking system up and running.

And Finally to the braking system. I am including an option for a portable system as well as a permanently installed system for you to take a look at. I prefer the permanently installed system due to not needing to move things around once installed, but a lot of people also like the portable style ones.

For said portable system, the Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR can be moved to a different vehicle if ever needed and provides precise, responsive braking for your towed Jeep Cherokee. But, when you get to the campsite, you will need to remove and store the system in either the RV or the back of your Cherokee. This is also the only part we do not have an install video for a Cherokee as of yet.

For the permanently installed system, the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 will be my recommendation. Though you will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751471 to complete this set up, once it is installed, you are good to go. This is a one time set up device, unlike the # BRK2019 which will need to be set every time it is used. This also activates only when RV brake lights are illuminated, so there is no chance false braking.
