These low-profile, lightweight cable chains are great for driving in light snow. Perfect for those trips where you need chains "just in case." Designed to fit passenger vehicles with tight clearance around the wheels.

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/ESP functionality, consult your owner's manual.
These chains are great for giving you a little extra traction in the snow. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.
SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:
If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new cable chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.
We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow cables that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile cables can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.
Installing cable chains is easy.
1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in the cables.
2. Where each cross cable attaches, you'll notice there is a smooth side and one with an edge. Make sure the smooth side faces in to sit against your tire's sidewall as you drape the cables over your tire.
3. On the front of the tire, feed the cable through the connection loop until it's tight, then feed the extra cable through the second loop to keep it from flapping as you drive. Repeat this on the backside of the tire.
Rubber adjusters (sold separately) are recommended to help ensure a tight fit. Connect these to the front side of the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.
Quick Tips:
To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

These low-profile, lightweight cable chains are great for driving in light snow. Perfect for those trips where you need chains "just in case." Designed to fit passenger vehicles with tight clearance around the wheels.Really good service (I had to call to make sure they fit my car) and great recommendation on how to install them and the use of tensioners.
I have not used the cables just yet. Hopeful I will not need to since I have AWD. However it's nice to have them just in case. I wasn't sure what ones to get but their customer service was great and shipping was fast. They are a nice set of cables. I definitely do not have any hesitations in using etrailers.
Quality looks good. Fit well on a car with little clearance and not designed for winter condtions.
Great product!
I was worried the cables will scratch the alloy wheels on my 2011 MB E350 (it is the Sport model with low profile tires), but all works very well! I just used them last week at Tahoe, and they performed perfectly! Make sure to tighten the cables all the way up, on the last metal stud.
Great product. Did a dry run in preparation for a trip up to Yosemite in the winter. I purchased these w/ the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster (TCMA2) and it fit great on my 2017 Toyota Sienna SE (P235/50R19). The installation video on etrailer.com was VERY helpful.
easy to put on and easy to take off
This does not fit my Tesla Model Y 2021 with 19’ wheels. The website said it does but it is very short. I even bought the chain adjuster separately. I was in the pouring rain before going into the snowy road trying to put this chains on come to find out it doesnt fit. Im very disappointed
I did a practice fitting in my driveway with cardboard laid out to run on. Install and fix as expected on A/T tires . In two weeks the real test if it is snowing in the Sierra. Rubber tire cable adjusters not needed, which is good because they are too small to connect all 6 arms.
I received my order of the Glacier Cable Tire Chains yesterday and both the chains and the tensioner look fine. I have not had a chance to use them yet. HOWEVER, the cloth bag holding the products has a defective zipper. I do not want to place these items in my car with a broken zipper. I could send you the bag for you to see before you would send me a workable one. Thanks.
Needed chains for my Subaru Forester to meet the legal requirement that I have traction devices when I go to the mountains and to get me out of trouble in an emergency. I don't actually plan on ever using them.
I immediately installed them to make sure they fit (etrailer guarantees they will) and to make sure I know how to put them on. The instructions were clear and installation was easier than any other chains I've used. I'm not sure if they would stand up to a lot of use, but they meet my needs.
Tire cable chains arrived in excellent condition. Got these as a just in case item so haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Fit in the driveway is as advertised. Our experience with ETRAILER has always resulted in great service, the orders are always shipped expeditiously and we’ve never had any problems. That’s why we’re repeat customers.

We purchased these as a just in case we need them item. So far we have not had to put these cable chains to the test yet.
This chain did not fit my tire. My tire size is 255/45R19, and the website advertises it would fit this tire.
No wonder why this place gets 5 stars. I bought the spring chains for my 2016 Outback, probably won’t use them but some states require you to have them in your car. Awesome website. Easy to find what you need for your vehicle. Fast shipping and very well packaged. Awesome customer service people and if you have any questions they respond fast. Highly recommended and I will use them again.

So far so good. I have not actually needed them. However in the mean time I traded in the 2016 Outback and got a 2019 Outback. Looking forward to trying them out if needed.
Haven't used them yet, but they look solid and have easy to follow instructions for installation.
As a woman who needs to use these type of chains due to a neighborhood road that terribly ices when it thaws and rains, they work great to keep me from sliding off the road. I own a Ford Escape and can get these on and off with a little work. My only complaint is that last year these chains were recommended for my vehicle and this year your website says I should not be using these chains, but some other model by Glacier. And one other thing that is totally my fault, is that I bought them last year, but did not need to use them so I never put them on my vehicle, so I did not know that they barely fit my tires even though they were supposed to be the correct size for my tires. I am only able to put them on the first link lock thingy and I use the spreader star bungie, so that makes them tight enough for me to drive out of our neighborhood and get to the paved road to take them off. It would be best if I had a little more tightening chain to work with, but that's on me for not trying them on the tires when I got them last year.
They worked when we needed them. We were caught in a sudden snow storm on the I-5 in Weed CA along with hundreds of other cars. We made it off the freeway to a motel and enjoyed the rest of the night in a warm motel room.
Had them in the Subaru Outback all winter but never had to use them
great service, even during the holiday rush.
a late decision and bid storm required chains, they got here on time.
Great, the only thing i was curious about was the rubber tie downs. I am asuming the chains will fit tight enough not to need them?

Rubber adjusters, that are sold separately, are recommended, as the chains you purchased do not have self-tightening cams or adjusters. Here are some for size 15-18 inch rims: item # PW105.

These chains actually fit the front wheels of my Subaru Outback. (225/65-17) Unlike the "EZ" chains I'd previously bought from online-retailer "A," these chains have inner and outer cables with a sufficient length (circumference) to sit at the widest part of the tire as opposed to the other chains I'd ordered from brand "A" that, at the cross-link points, fell inside the 17" wheel diameter, and therefore interfered with the suspension components of the front wheels.
I'll admit that the split chains that DIDN'T work for me were much easier to install, and they appeared to be of a little sturdier constructions, than the PW1042 chains that I now have, but I couldn't get circumference information for the other company's chains, or confirmation that they'd fit my car, not just my tires.
The pw1042 chains have equal-length inside and outside cables, and they are adjustable, so I can make sure that the inside cable is snug enough, but well clear of the car's suspension. The other company's "EZ" chains offered no such adjustment. I'll probably be using the second notch on the inside of the tires, and then the third or fourth notch on the outside of the tires. The rubber adjusters that I also bought will take up any (not much) slack that there is.
Bought a new pair of Glacier spring tire cables with the adjusters. They arrived in California within a few days. Product purchased for our 2017 Subaru Outback since these are the only authorized tire traction devices for Subaru vehicles. Sold our former Outback after 17 years and 200,000 mile of excellent service. These are almost never necessary on Subaru cars with the rare exception of ice ink conditions on which you can't even stand up. The CHP flags Subaru cars thru without added traction devices because they really aren't needed. A CHP officer once flagged us out of a line of cars being turned around in Truckee when I-80 was closed over Donner Summit because of too much snow and motioned that we were the exception to the rule and were cleared to head on home.
I initially purchased the tire chains for use on a trip from Texas to Washington state in October of 2020 but had decent weather and did not need them until a snow storm hit southern Texas this past spring. I had no trouble traveling to and from work during the bad weather. If I did not have the chains, I would not have been driving.
I actually never used the cables. I am giving them a 5 star based solely on the simple instructions and the ease I had to "practice" putting on the cables before my trip. On my trip, we did encounter snow, but California Highway Patrol was not mandating personal vehicles to install chains.
The piece of mind that I had, was enough to justify the purchase. It chains would have been required, my family would have been safe. Thank you
Theses cables worked perfectly. They were easy to install and use. I hated using chains on my last vehicle but these cables were great. Very little noise and the van handled good with them on.
This was a great investment. I'm about to start using them again for this year.
Purchased these low-profile chains for Subaru Outback after a new state law required vehicles crossing the mountain pass to carry chains, but never hoped to use them. Ended up having an unexpectedly snow winter so had to put them on/take them off daily to get up and down our driveway safely, let alone mountain travel. For that they worked perfectly, and were easy to put on and take off. Thanks
