This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we are going to be taking a look at the Hopkins plug in simple vehicle wire and harness with a 4-pull flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years of the Honda Ridgeline. It's going to provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pull, 6-pull, and 7-pull adapters. The adapters are sold separately. It comes with a dust cap for the 4-way flat connector, that way you can cover up the connection points when your plug is not being used. The unit also features protective connection terminals to resist corrosion.
It's going to include your taillight converter. That's this small black box right here. This is designed to insure that your vehicle's wiring matches out of your trailer's and prevents overloads. The system's designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires.
Just locate the connection points behind the vehicle's taillights at the back of the vehicle, and plug in your T-connectors. This one right her with the yellow wiring is going to go to the driver side. The one with the green wiring is going to go to the passenger side of the vehicle. The plugs on the harness are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. They are going to plug in and they are going to snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have that done, you can go ahead and make a ground connection.
The ground wire is going to be your white wire with a ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice, clean, metal surface with the included grounding screw, and then you can go ahead and mount your converter box to a nice, out of the way location using the included cable ties. Once your installation is complete, the 4-way flat connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector easily accessible as well as secure. Mounting brackets are sold separately, so if you're interested or if you're in need, you can check out some options here at e-trailer.com. It's also recommend that you use a small amount of grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pull connector itself.
The grease is going to really help prevent corrosion to the connection points. The kit does come with a packet of grease to apply to those connection points. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit. The unit also comes with your detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the process step by step. I bought a 2013 Honda Ridgeline that came from the factory with a trailer hitch mounted, but no wiring to go with it (probably so dealers can charge big bucks to do that.) Since I’ll probably never need more than a 4-pin connection/wiring, I started looking for the parts to do it myself. Came across this slick little Hopkins kit from e-trailer and had it hooked up in a half hour. Am now legally and safely good-to-go when I need to pull a trailer, rental equipment, etc.

Exactly what I needed. My Ridgeline came with the hitch but no wiring harness and instead of paying a big service bill, etrailer.com hooked me up with the part in less than a week. Perfect site for the do-it-your-selfer.

I installed it very easy to do,used all of the grease provided. The previous owner didn’t use the grease and that’s why I had to replace the harness.

Wiring kit went in within 30 minutes start to finish. Little unhappy that the light converter is dangling behind the light assembly since there was no place to secure it, but it will work as is. Even with that, I still recommend the kit.

Had one small issue after the installation of the wiring kit which left me with an intermittent reverse light on the left side. After a bit of diagnosing, I found that the connectors in the block had backed out and werent making a positive connection. Not really related to etrailer but more from the manufacturer of the kit. Even with that annoyance, I would still recommend the kit.
Product was as advertised. Installed it the day I got it and it works great. Really needed it for this weekend since I needed my lights on my trailer to work properly. Thankyou for the fast delivery. I will be doing business with etrailer again.

Works very well for my Honda Ridgeline.
My hitch (& wiring harness) arrived today and based on my research hands down this is the way to go for hauling. I look forward to doing just that. Even more impressive was the customer service I got from Katrina at etrailer when I called to place my order. She was patient, thurough and took the extra time to make sure I was satisfied we had all the right parts. Still working great and I still heartily recommend.
PRODUCT ARRIVED IN TIMELY MANNER, HOWEVER TIGHT FIT - WE NEEDED TO CONNECT IT TO A BOAT TRAILER AND PULL IT INTO PLACE IN ORDER TO GET THE HOLES TO ALIGN, OTHERWISE SEEMS GOOD. LIGHT KIT WAS EASY TO INSTALL AND TOOK JUST A FEW MINUTES...
The wiring harness came with electrical grease and zip-ties, installation was a snap on my ridgeline!
Good communication and fast shipping. Excellent hitch, perfect fit. The Hopkins wiring kit was a breeze. Will keep ordering from etrailer.
Everything was great, and the video on eTrailer made it even easier. Only one complaint-- and this isn't eTrailer's problem, but the part manufacturer-- there was no two-sided tape to stick the module on the sheet metal. I had to run out and get a roll in the middle of this job.
Good quality part. Hooked up quickly with no hiccups. Install video helped so I had an idea of what I needed to do. I added some wire loom and push wire ties to make the job more clean and professional looking.
