Video Transcript for Review of Derale Radiator Fans - D16769

Today we're going to take a look at the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe. Now this will automatically control your electric radiator fan with this adjustable in hose thermostat switch. This'll provide the necessary air flow for sufficient cooling by switching your radiator fan on when the fluid reaches a set temperature. The temperature setting, which is controlled right here, is user determined and it may be set anywhere between 32 and 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Does conserve power by turning off the fan if the fluid falls below a determined shutoff temperature. This does install in the radiator inlet tube so that the probe itself remains positioned in the hose. It does include everything laid out here on the table.

This is the thermostat switch with the probe, has the thermostat mounting bracket and the mounting hardware has this roll of 16 feet of extra wire to make your electrical connections. All your electrical connectors and cable ties are included and a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe and show how this installs. Few specs on this. The adjustable temperature range, again is 32 to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Maximum capacity is 16 amps, but that should do it for the review on the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe..

This fan controller works well. Only complaint is that the mounting bracket screws didn't fit through the holes in the bracket, I had to expand the holes larger to get them through. Aside from that minor inconvenience I'm pleased with the item's operation.

I've used this product before and it does exactly what I want it to do. I use it to tap into the ECU ground control for the hi speed fan relay coil. This along with a manual switch also tapped in, allows me to run the hi speed fan at the temps I want it to.

Great price and very fast shipping. I will be a customer again.

Very nice kit. Good heavy wiring and all the components needed to install it. Good directions. Could use some gradations around the adjuster to know exactly where the temperature is set, but the calculation isn't too hard.

Everything was perfect I'd give it 5 st ars

  • Will the High-Output, Dual Electric Radiator Fan Assembly 4,000 CFM # D16934 Fit on a 1985 Ford
The Derale 32 inch High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly - 4,000 CFM, item # D16934, is designed as a universal application and will mount behind the radiator on your 1985 Ford with 6.9 Liter diesel engine. You will need to measure to be sure there is room to mount the assembly behind the radiator. I have listed the dimensions below. Width - 31-3/8 inches Height - 15-3/4 inches Overall Depth - 3-1/4 inches Mounting Holes - 12-7/8 inches Top to Bottom Mounting holes -...

  • Can the Positive and Negative Leads be Switched to Reverse Fan Rotation on Radiator Fan # D18914
The Derale electric fan, # D18914, is a pusher or puller fan. To reverse the rotation, you would switch the wire leads. I tested it myself just to be certain and sure enough when the leads were switched the fan spun in the opposite direction. I do not think you will be able to use a PWM system with this fan. You would need some sort of control module and the fan is not designed for pulses of voltage as it will not sustain operation unless a constant 12 volts is applied to it. To control...

  • Fan Recommendation for a Transmission Cooler When Travelling at Low Speeds
If you are planning on traveling on steep grades, at a low speed, in high heat...a fan in front of the transmission cooler you have would be a great idea. I am not sure how big your cooler is but the 8 inch fan part # D16618 should work well and then you could use the thermostatic control part # D16769 so that you can program it to come on at a certain temperature.

  • Fluid Leaks After Installing the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat # D16769
It is surprising to hear your hose is leaking after installing the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat, # D16769. We have not received any complaints for this product. I spoke with my contact at Derale and he said there are only a few things that typically cause leaking with this thermostat. First, make sure the included foam pad is placed over the capillary tube. Next, look at the type of hose clamp you are using. If you are using a clip, I recommend replacing it with a screw type...

  • Electric Fan and Shroud Kit Recommendation for 1995 Dodge Ram with 5.9 liter Engine
We have electric fan and shroud kits that would work great most likely for your 1995 Dodge Ram but I am going to need to know the size of the area behind the radiator to give you the best recommendation. I tried looking up that dimension and it looks like most places are saying it's right at 26 by 19 inch which is pretty standard so that would make sense but I would want you to verify that first before ordering. We have the dual fan and shroud kit part # D16927 which would be a great...

  • Using Derale Electric Fan Part # D16908 for Remotely Mounted Transmission Cooler
At 450 CFM (cubic feet per minute) the Straight Blade Electric Fan you mentioned, part # D16908, would provide plenty of airflow for the D13503 Transmission cooler. This has been confirmed with Derale, the manufacturer. If you need a thermostat control for the fan, use part # D16769.

  • Where Does the Probe Install for Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe
Depending on the probe being used, there can be more than one way to install it. The probe for # D16769 is supposed to go inside the radiator hose as shown in the diagrams in the instructions I have linked for you. For this probe, if it was not in contact with the coolant you would not begetting an accurate reading.
