1998 dodge durango 5.9 gas engine I am going to tow

Since fans are not vehicle specific, choosing a fan for your 1998 Dodge Durango will depend on a couple of things. For your 5.9 liter engine, the normal CFM requirement is between 3400 and 4500, so you will want to get the largest fan possible that meets your engine cooling requirement. You will want to make certain you have sufficient room to install the fan. I have linked you to our product page that has several fans, and also shows the dimensions for the fans.
I have also linked you to an FAQ article that explains cooling fans and their functions. For the highest efficiency, you would install the fan as a puller fan. This would be mounted between the radiator and the engine and positioned so that it pulls air through the radiator.
If clearance is an issue, the fan would need to be installed as a pusher fan, which would push the air through the radiator, and mounts between the radiator and the grille.
There are a couple of options you may want to consider for controlling the fan. One option would be the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe, part # D16769. This would automatically control your radiator fan, which conserves power, and you can set it to temperatures between 32 and 240 degrees. This comes with all of the required hardware needed for installation.
We also offer a lighted switch like the Derale Lighted Switch for Electric Fans, part # D16740. This switch would allow you to control when the fan is used.
Towing can cause stress on the transmission and engine as well and I would recommend a combination transmission / oil cooler for your Durango. Again, you would need to find a location where you have sufficient room to mount the cooler. I have linked you to a couple of FAQ articles explaining transmission coolers and oil coolers. I have also linked you to our product page that has transmission / oil coolers.
Since the size of the fittings can vary on the transmissions, you will want to know what size lines you have before ordering the adapters. For 1/2 inch transmission lines, you would need part # D13033, for 3/8 inch lines you would need part # D13032, and for 5/16 inch lines you would need part # D13031.
