The sandwich adapter in this kit provides the external oil lines necessary to install a cooler without requiring you to move the factory spin-on oil filter, making it even easier to extend the life of your vehicle's engine. In addition, the thermostatic bypass feature allows oil cooler than 180 degrees to bypass the heat exchanger, so your engine will warm up faster.

The cooler used in this system is a highly efficient, radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger. In this system, finned chambers provide increased surface area for fluids to spread out while also continuously agitating them, resulting in superior heat transfer with minimum pressure drop.

just one problem the sandwich adapter will not fit on a 2008 Avalanche 4x4 the front drive shaft is in the way had to modify

This is a real nice kit. The oil cooler that was in the kit i receive had brackets on each side. The one picture online item # D15405 does not have it. Which was fine because the holes line up with a/c condenser on left side looking at it. Bolted it right on looks like it came factory install. Real please with it so far as lower oil temps down to 200 degrees when under a hard pull. Oil temp before kit was running at the highest was 255 degrees. Highly recommend this kit. The shipping was also fast.

by:

Before I purchased this oil cooler, I was pulling my small boat loaded with camping gear over the willamette pass in oregon in the middle of summer. The temp outside was pushing 100 degrees and the road was a pretty steep grade uphill. My ram 1500 started singing with different bells and displayed engine temp was pushing 245 degrees.
I started sweating bullets, hoping my engine wouldn’t blow up.
After I got home I did some research and found this oil cooler.
Hoping it would help and do the trick, I purchased it and hoped for the best.
We went camping this year to the same location, and the entire way I was staring at all the temp gauges.
My truck never got above 220 degrees. This thing works!

by:

A local mechanic installed the cooler. The next day the oil line to it failed and we lost all of the oil. He fixed it, but again two days later it failed again and he removed the cooler and refunded our money. I through the cooler out. Can't trust the installation.

by:

I put this in my 1981 Chevy C10. Toughest part was finding an oil filter that worked with the adapter but I did find one that worked just fine. I was concerned that my oil would be getting hot and I want to make my engine last a good long while so this was just a must. I can say after a long drive the oil entering the cooler is barely warm and the oil on exit is a little cooler than air temperature. This works perfectly and was not a problem to mount!

by:

The oil cooler works great, but you will need to order more hose because the amount given is not enough, you cannot find it at ANY auto parts store so order it the first time

by:

Instructions were clear and installation was easy. Works great. Lower engine oil temps when towing. Shipping was quick too.

by:

Great product quality, but the reason for the four stars and not five is because the hose barbs were miss packaged. I received four 3/8 NPT hose barbs but the two needed for the cooler are 1/2 NPT...a trip to Home Depot for the correct ones and $9.00 later was back in business.

The oil lines began seeping on a long trip coating the radiator with oil. Had to add multiple hose clamps to get it stopped. When I got back home, I replaced the fittings and oil lines with JIC connections and hydraulic hoses [about $100] Problem solved forever. Still a nice package just better now with a quality cooler and adapter.

by:

Easy straight forward install seems to work well

Thank you

2009 GMC Yukon XL towing a 7,800lb travel trailer from California to South Carolina.....
I don't believe the Yukon would have made this journey if it wasn't for the oil cooler and additional -to the stock- transmission cooler. Dragging the travel trailer through the mountains during the heat of the summer was taxing. However, my engine temp barely went past the 12 o'clock position and transition never got above 190 F. Before installing these my engine temp would go to the 1-2 o'clock position and transmission temp would get up to 210 F. Highly recommend this product. Just make sure you have a filter that fits the adapter before installing. Just take the adapter to the auto parts store and find one that spins on it.

Bought both the transmission cooler and engine cooler for my 2007 Chevy Tahoe. I'm a DIY'er cuz I hate paying for something I can do on a free weekend. Install was a breeze. Drop in temperature for the transmission was great. No more worries while pulling my trailer. Both quality products, both easy to install, and still working great with no leaks till this day.

  • Recommendation for Engine Oil Cooler in a 2017 Ram 1500 5.7L
If you are strictly looking for an oil cooler then I recommend the Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15405 which is a Class V plate-fin cooler so it is very efficient. It includes an adjustable sandwich adapter and multiple threads to ensure that it fits properly. This cooler measures 9-7/8" wide x 9-1/2" tall x 1-1/4" deep so you just need to mount it in a place where it will get the max amount of airflow, like between your grille and the AC condenser core. • Recommended Method for Cooling Engine of 2004 Chevy Trailblazer at Highway Speeds
I have a solution for you. But at interstate speeds the fans of a radiator aren't really doing much cooling. The fans are generally only there for when the vehicle is at slower speeds. Adding a pusher fan would help if the problem was lower speeds but at interstate speeds it's not going to make a noticeable difference. What would work best is actually an oil cooler. This will cool your oil off at highway speeds and would make a noticeable different. Your 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer takes...

The Derale oil cooler # D15405 comes with 10 feet of 1/2 inch hose. You could add another 10 feet using # D15700. Then you would just need a 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch line hose barb fitting from an auto parts store and some additional hose clamps # D13008. For transmission cooler # D13503 there are no special fittings required for installation.
