Engine Oil Cooler Recommendation for 2014 Ram 1500 with 5.7 liter V8

Question:

So basically d15405 is fin plate and d15605 is stacked plate right ? And stacked plate is better than fin plate so d15605 would be more efficient in terms of cooling right ? And the D15450 is fin plate with a fan right ? So how would d15605 which is only stacked plate compare to d15450 which is fin plate with a fan ? Sorry for being in depth just want the best system for my truck.

The Derale Stacked Plate Engine Oil Cooler part # D15405 is a really great option for an engine oil cooler for your 2014 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 liter V8. It's a larger stacked plate style of cooler which will do a great job lowering your engine oil temps when you are in the desert.

Thank you for the email. I didn’t receive a notification or the reply earlier and was actually wondering what had happened to my question . I’ll give feedback for sure. I wanted to know that Jameson mentioned derale d15405. I wanted to know that compared to stacked plate vs fin plate which is the better design ? Also I noticed retake has oil coolers with an electric fan. Is there any model with an. Fan that would fit my truck? 2014 5.7 ram 1500 Dd.

The stacked plate coolers are the most efficient like the kit part # D15605 that would work as well. If you wanted an efficient kit that also has a fan we have the part # D15450 as well. This also comes with a thermostatic switch so that the engine oil has chance to reach operating temperature.

Yes the stacked plate style cooler is more efficient than a plate fin so the # D15605 would be more efficient than the # D15405. Now comparing the # D15605 to the plate fin with a fan # D15450 is a little more nuanced but I can say that the part # D15450 would give you more consistent and efficient cooling since it has a high powered fan that will always have enough air flow to efficiently cool the oil. The stacked plate would be a great solution if it was mounted in an area with plenty of air moving through it but the wind will be diminished when you slow down and an ideal location isn't always available.
