Does the ETBC7 Kit Include Wiring for a 12V Power Lead for Charging RV Battery
Question:
Does product ETBC7 include a hot wire from the tow vehicle to charge the RVs battery? Lights, brakes, signals are all mentioned, but nothing about battery charging. I have a 98 Tacoma SR5 4WD 3.4L manual. Torn between Derale oil coolers D15405 and D15602. Any advice regarding better fit, better performance, ease of installation? Thank you!

Yes, the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 includes a connector that plugs into the 4-Way flat on your 1998 Toyota Tacoma for basic lighting functions, as well as the wiring and hardware needed to get your 7-Way fully functioning. The 10 Gauge Duplex Wire includes 2 wires. One will be routed under the driver side dash and will carry the brake controller signal, like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, and the other will be routed to the battery on your Tacoma for a 12V Power pin on the 7-Way. I have attached a video of this kit and a brake controller being installed on a 1999 Tacoma that you can use as a reference.
Although the Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15405 is larger than the Derale Stacked-Plate Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15602, the stacked-plate design is actually more efficient and will do a better job at cooling your engine oil. The stacked-plate cooler is about 3-3/4" longer and 3/4" thicker, but it is also about 5" shorter so it should be easier to install than the plate-fin design. At a fairly similar price point I recommend going with the stacked-plate cooler.
The best place to install an external cooler, whether it is for oil or transmission fluid, is between your grille and the AC condenser core as this will provide the most airflow resulting in the most efficient cooling setup. Ultimately you will just need to install is wherever it fits best. I have attached a helpful article on oil coolers that you can reference.
