One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Jeep Wrangler

The product is great, the only issue I had was that it did not have the correct connectors for the Jeep Wrangler, but I was able to get some quickly. It's kept my Jeep's Trans fluid temp nice and cool, even when pulling my 3k pound travel trailer.. GREAT!

by:

Easy to install and has worked great on my '06 4Runner v6. A little extra piece of mind for the mountains. This size just barely fits on the passenger side of the radiator - there is a central, vertical support bar behind the grill that prevents a wider cooler from fitting.

by:

I can not install the transmission cooler BECAUSE the other parts ordered has not arrived.

by:

This Transmission cooler really works well. It keeps my transmission much cooler while towing heavy trailers. I connected it in series with the factory coolers for a lower operating temperature. If towing or hauling heavy loads I recommend this plate cooler. Also plates remove more heat than tubes.

This cooler is great. The transmission even towing rarely ever gets above 150 degrees. Heat is the main cause of transmission failure and fluid turning to varnish. Highly recommend this cooler.

by:

Packaging was damaged but no damage to cooler due to solid construction. Had done online searches for installation tips and suggestions. All very beneficial. However, this cooler is larger than many I saw online and I had to find an alternate installation location. I was able to find a suitable location in front of radiator and minor modification (drilled two additional mounting holes in mount bracket and trimmed one corner for clearance.) Overall has shown lower transmission operating temps. Have not towed since installation and hope that lower temps carry over to towing a load. I give this product, shipping, and customer service a thumbs up.

by:

This was easy to mount in front of the radiator, and connections were correct to run as 2nd trans cooler for Armada, towing 6500lbs. Immediate change to about 15-20 degrees on long uphill climbs. Just need to inform the tranny guys that it takes more fluid whenever you get a change.

by:

Works great to cool the air going into my Air Compressor tank.

by:

Parts arrived fast and in good condition. My setup needs recessed mounting, and I must use the cooler's bolt holes for proper clearence and support. Supplied plastic ties and foam are not quite enough for a secure mounting, and the supplied hose barb fittings are nice aluminum, but I need a 1/2" barb end, not 3/8". These little things are no problem. I'm happy and will buy from e-trailer again.

by:

Replaced Trans cooler on 1 ton. Temps running lot lower than stock cooler.

1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Installed it on a 99 Ford F250 with a diesel, that was having transmission overheating problem when towing a trailer. Fixed the problem.

GMC Canyon

I added the cooler brfore going on a cross country trip. So far, I have climbed the ozark mountains , Guadalupe mountains, kings canyon and death valley. The highest temperature so far was 186. I'd say it is working better than expected

by:

Works great. Easy to install. Instructions were also good. I also believe this site had videos on the install as well.

1996 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Really sturdy and heavy duty, had to move my tire for install but not relocate it on my 96 f250. Took me a little over an hour, had pre existing holes so I only had to drill two of them out.

by:

Good product. Great instructions. For me, easy to install

  • Transmission Cooler Availability for a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek
I did some research on your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek and it looks like you have a CVT transmission. If your CVT transmission has lines that run from the transmission to the radiator (some do, some do not), you can install a transmission cooler. A transmission cooler is inexpensive insurance that would do a great job of extending the life of your transmission. The best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to measure the distance in front of the radiator and go with the largest one...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 Acura MDX
I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Nissan Titan Towing a Rockwood Roo 21SS
Adding a transmission cooler to your 2005 Nissan Titan is a great idea to improve transmission performance and longevity, especially if you will be towing your Rockwood Roo 21SS trailer. Towing will put additional strain on an engine and transmission and one of the most common causes of transmission failure is overheating. When choosing a transmission cooler, it is best to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the space you have available because transmission fluid cannot be over...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2010 Chevy 1500 Truck
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13614 that you referenced would be a good choice for your 2010 Chevy 1500 truck. This cooler has a GVW rating of 22,500 lbs. You can either bypass the factory cooler altogether, or you can run the coolers one after the other. I would recommend you run the fluid first through the factory cooler and then to the # D13614 and then back to your transmission. This would optimize the cooling of your transmission fluid. • Transmission Cooler for 2003 Toyota Tundra with 4.7L Engine
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific items, so the idea is to choose the largest, most efficient cooler that will fit in the space available. The best and most efficient place to mount a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. If the space available will accommodate its 11 x 11-3/8 inch dimensions, the Derale # D13614 would be an excellent choice. The fittings needed will depend on the diameter of your transmission lines. • Can a Transmission Cooler be Used to Bypass the Factory Cooler on a 2007 Hummer H3
It is usually the other way around with factory transmissions coolers in radiators. By that I mean that normally you see a problem with the factory coolers, not the aftermarket replacements. It is possible to bypass the factory cooler in the radiator by blocking off the input/output locations for the transmission cooler on the radiator. You would then need to mount the largest possible cooler that you can get to fit or install a remote cooler with its own fan. The Series 9000 Plate-Fin...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler and Locating Transmission Return Line on 2007 Chevy Avalanche
The return line is typically the bottom line, but you should confirm by doing the following. Start cold engine, place the transmission in drive for about 10 seconds, then shift back to park and shut motor off. Then, feel the upper and lower transmission lines. One line should be noticeably cooler than the other. The cooler of the two lines would be the return. Since you cannot over cool a transmission, we recommend choosing the largest cooler that will fit into the space available....

The Derale Series 9000 Transmission cooler can mount either in font of or behind the radiator. The unit measures 11 inches in length, 11-3/8 tall (including mounting tabs) and 1-1/4 inches thick. As this is not a vehicle-specific product, you will have to examine and measure the areas in front of and behind your radiator to see if the proper clearance exists. The Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, would be a good choice. The cooler measures 17" Wide x 12-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep. As long as you have roof for it in front of your radiator/AC condenser it would work great.

If the owner's manual for your 2009 Toyota Tacoma lists a towing capacity of 6,500 pounds then it's safe to tow up to this limit, however as you probably realize, the closer you creep up to this limit the more you're really going to feel the truck work. For example, I can probably run a couple miles without stopping but it's not going to be pretty. Over time this kind of stress can lead to premature wear on various truck components. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2012 Nissan Titan 4x4
For your 2012 Nissan Titan I recommend Derale Transmission Cooler # D13614. This is a Class V cooler meaning that it is very efficient and will provide a large cooling capacity. The best place to mount the cooler is right behind the grille/in front of the AC condenser core. It can get the most airflow in this position. The line from the transmission will go from the tranny to the factory cooler. From there it needs to go to the new supplemental cooler and then back to the transmission. To...
