2015 Ford Escape

This fit my 2011 Ford Escape PERFECTLY!! Took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to install. Instructions were clear and easy to follow, but the video made even clearer. I did slightly modify the lead cable by bending a small hook at the loose end to help stop it from sliding up into the frame. Very good product!! Thank you!!!

by:

Product fit as indicated. It took a little over 2 hours to install. The instructions indicated a spacer needed to be placed on the passenger side of the install. However, with the spacer in place the bolt holes did not line up. Other than that, the install went smoothly.

by:

This hitch went on well, but you must follow the instructions carefully. The hitch worked well as expected, no problems during towing. But, the car was struck in the rear and totaled, taking the bent hitch to the junkyard with it.
We have replaced the vehicle and I now have installed a new hitch from etrailer. The car is the same model, except with a V-6 and more pulling power. I installed a hitch with 2 inch receiver to take advantage of the added power. It also tows properly and I expect excellent service.

Great!! Does everything I need it to do. No problems whatsoever. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase another when the need arises.

The Ford Escape is rather easy to work with, I had my wife help me. I put the rear end on ramps and 40 minutes later we were done. Watching the video first made it a breeze. There was a 3/8 to 1/2 inch gap on the sides as the hitch wasn't fully wide enough but it pulled together without incident. I suppose being under tension helps make things sturdy? Buying the hitch with three bolts is definitely worth the extra investment.

So far so good. We pull a 4x8 utility trailer around with it regularly and havent had any problems. I like that it is tucked away under the bumper and out of the way also.

2009 Ford Escape

Confirmation e-mail came quickly, but implied product might not ship for 7 days. I ordered late on a Thursday night and it came the following Tuesday night. Order was complete. I installed everything that first Saturday. Installation was easy, but it sure helps having a second person to help support the weight on one side while working on the other!!

One reason I bought the Curt instead of other brands available is that the Curt has three mounting bolts on each side rather than just two. I can confirm that lowering the exhaust is helpful and no drilling or enlarging of any holes was necessary.

I can confirm a question I saw on your website somewhere. Even though my 2009 Ford Escape without towing package comes with a wiring connector behind the rear bumper, it is not LIVE without installing two fuses and three relays.

Fuse #8 (20A) and Fuse #14 (15A) are needed, as are relays 31C, 31D, and 31E. All are in the fuse block under the hood. The Ford part number is 5L3T-AA. Also has a 2068D5 on it.

Chances are I'll only use the hitch once to pull a trailer to move my daughter home from college. But, now that I have it, I suppose I may borrow a utility trailer for things like a lawn roller or power rake or landscaping materials and plant material.

2012 Ford Escape

Shipping was very fast and the hitch was just as advertised. Quality construction. Now, for the installation, harder than I imagined when trying to go by the print instructions. Here's the clue for a much easier install. Go to the youtube instructions for "2012 Ford Escape trailer hitch install". It is by etrailertv and I can assure you than when you watch the video, the slightly confusing print instructions begin to make sense. (especially in relation to getting the bolts and spacers in the frame) You will also probably need another set of hands when you go to screw the nuts on the bolts to attach the hitch itself. The hitch also sits slightly below(under) the back bumper area, not snug to it. Just an FYI.

2007 Ford Escape

I ordered a Curt Class II trailer hitch for my SUV. It was very easy to find the hitch that would fit my car (good price) and etrailer.com kept me updated on the status of my order. Hitch was easy to install. I'm very pleased with etrailer.com and would highly recommend.

by:
2008 Ford Escape

The Curt trailer hitch fit perfectly on my 2008 Escape. Installation took about 2 hrs. The etrailer installation video was required. The written instructions provided with the hitch are difficult to read and images are a bit small

by:
2012 Ford Escape

Just got finished the install. Watched and followed the installation video. Entire process took about 30 minutes. The video was extremely helpful! Before I had ordered, I had called a local place for parts and installation. The price of both was much higher than I had expected. etrailer had the hitch at a much lower price and after watching the video, install was a breeze. Thanks guys! Great fast delivery and excellent installation assistance. Im getting ready to install the wiring now, I'll let you know how it goes.

2012 Ford Escape

Hitch fit my 2012 Escape perfectly and did not require any drilling or modifications. Installed it myself in about an hour and a half. It looks great and works well with my bike rack. E-trailer had this at my house in 3 days. Communication with E-trailer was fantastic. Would definately order from E-trailer again !!

by:
2012 Ford Escape

Went together no problem except was missing 1 rubber strap (L). The box- bike rack box was opened in another big box with the trailer hitch. All trailer hitch parts were present. I looked through all packing and otherwise and only received 7 rubber straps. Now as for the installation on suv-took about 1 hour. the video was right on. Thanks again.

2008 Ford Escape

Arrived in 3 days. Installation went very smooth. I used the video for directions. Wiring harness also installed without a hitch. Definitely the easiest hitch I have ever installed.

by:
2011 Ford Escape

Extremely please with etrailer staff and their products. I've ordered several hitches over the years and have never been disappointed. The hitches are made very well and having the videos available that shows you how the hitches are installed is priceless. The hitch went on without a problem and the estimated time was right on target.

Everyone should watch the videos before installing their hitch. There are some very good tips that they pass along, very well done.

2010 Ford Escape

I don't have any pictures to share, but I can tell you installing my new hitch went quite smoothly. It took me about an hour, and it's the first hitch I ever installed. I think I'm going to install the wiring harness also. Can you order that for my 2010 Ford Escape? Let me know and thanks again. Jim Miller.

by:

The quality of the hitch was great. The directions were easy to follow, but the eTrailer video on youtube.com was even more helpful. The only issue was that I had to elongate the hole in the frame so the backer plate and bolt would fit through. eTrailer told me I would have to do this, but I wish the product makers would have re-designed the backer plate and bolts to fit through the existing hole since they knew about the issue. I will not hesitate to order again from eTrailer.

2005 Ford Escape

Great product that lined right up with my existing mounting holes. I had installed one before, but this one was a little more complicated due to the design of the vehicle, a 2005 Escape. Following the directions supplied, and using a skilsaw to enlarge the access holes for the hardware, I was able to install it in about an hour and a half. The fish wires supplied not only helped, the job would have been impossible without them. And removing the muffler was unnecessary, I just pushed out out of the way to access the frame as needed. Thanks for a great product with excellent instructions, arriving in a timely manner, and followed up on promptly.

2010 Ford Escape

Great product and fast courteous service. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because I bit off more than I could chew on this one. In the past, I have been able to install just about any of the hitches. This one was a bit more complicated than I could handle and had to have my mechanic friends with a lift install it. With their help, it went in quite easily. I will definitely be back for more products in the future. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Hitch fit perfectly and was easy to install. Good instructions too.

by:
2012 Ford Escape

I put the hitch on my 2012 Escape. It fit perfectly without modifying anything. Took about 1 1/2 hrs to install the hitch and wiring. It is low profile as it doesn't stick out from the bumper. Looks good on vehicle and works great

by:

Good so far

by:

Product was excellent and online instructions were on point. The enclosed directions were not good, but when I called they said follow the ones advertised and it was nice. One negative the photo displayed on the web site is deceiving. This caused some confusion but the end result was great.

by:
2012 Ford Escape

Looks Great! Had to drill open a couple of holes in the frame to get the bolts in but it looks better than factory on my 2012 Ford Escape. etrailer got my order to me fast. This is the way online ordering should be. I will recommend and buy again from etrailer for sure!

by:

Standard Shipping arrived in 2 days, very fast. Very easy to install both Trailer Hitch and lights.

by:

It went in like a piece of cake, it was really easy, I would prefer lock nuts just incase i did not receive my pin and clip, got the draw bar

by:

Very easy install. I installed the hitch on my lunch break under 30 minutes. wiring was easy too. Very satisfied with my purchase

  • How Hidden Will The Curt Round Trailer Hitch Be On My 2011 Ford Escape
We do have pictures of the Curt Class III Hitch installed on a 2010 Ford Escape, check out the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 13650. The Curt round hitches do not stick out too far from the vehicle and for the most part are hidden. The round-tube design allows the hitch to sit closer to the vehicle fascia. I would recommend going with the Class III 2 inch hitch, part # 13650, as it is the highest rated hitch available for your 2011 Ford Escape. Also, 2 inch hitches are compatible...

  • Does The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 12060 Include A Ball Mount
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 12060, includes a ball mount, pin and clip. If you need wiring and your 2008 Ford Escape came with a factory tow package, you will need Tow Package Wiring Harness, part # 118251. If your Escape did not come with a tow package, you will need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118551. To complete your towing setup, you may be interested in the following items: 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19256 2 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19258 I have linked...

  • What Stabilizing Strap Should be Used with a CURT Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Ford Escape
On CURT Class I and II (and some Class III) trailer hitches, CURT requires the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers to be in compliance with their warranty requirements. The strap is meant to help support the accessory mounted in the rack which relieves some stress on the hitch. I recommend going with a Class III etrailer, # e56AR, for your 2010 Ford Escape because cost is similar and the etrailer hitch does not require a strap....

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver, Ball Mount, and Wiring for 2011 Ford Escape
I do not have any information on the factory hitch height of the 2011 Ford Escape, but I can help you with how to measure it. To measure the height of a trailer hitch you will measure from the ground (on a level surface) to the top of the opening. I've attached an article to show you this and how it applies to measuring for ball mount height to tow a trailer level. For your 2011 Ford Escape, Curt trailer hitch receiver # 13650 is 15-1/4 inches from the ground to the top opening of the...

This hitch has a 350lb tongue weight rating and a 3500lb trailer weight rating making it a perfect option for carrying a bike rack, a cargo carrier, or using a ball mount to tow a trailer. According to the installation instructions for the Curt Trailer, # 12060, which I have linked for reference, you will not need to perform any rear fascia or bumper trimming to install the trailer hitch. There are only a few tech notes for this hitch: Drilling required only to enlarge existing access holes Fits Hybrid models as well Hitch will fit on models with a vibration dampener on the exhaust This trailer hitch comes with the recommended ball mount which should be used in the rise...

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # 12060 Fit on a 2010 Ford Escape With Exhaust Dampener
Yes, I spoke with my contact at Curt Manufacturing and the Curt Class II Round Tube Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar, item # 12060, is designed to work with all models of the 2010 Ford Escape. The hitch is designed to work around the exhaust dampener on your vehicle. One suggestion I would make is that a Class III hitch will give you more bike rack options and will also provide added weight capacity if needed in the future for items such as a cargo carrier or towing. The price difference...
