2006 Scion xB

I installed this trailer hitch on my girlfriend's 2006 Scion xB. It was a perfect match, incredibly easy to install. Jack up rear of vehicle and support with Jack stands, remove the tow hooks, get the passenger side of the hitch above the exhaust and install 4 bolts/washers and torque them. The wiring harness I bought from etrailer was even easier (2006 Scion xB T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector). Two plugs and a ground wire. It'sa breeze towing a riding mower, bikes or kayaks with my little trailer. The prices were great and FREE SHIPPING. More people should be towing with small cars!

They are working great. Thanks.

2006 Scion xB

The customer service at etrailer has been the best experience ever. I originally ordered the Drawtite invisihitch but quickly realized it wouldn't work for my application. I needed to be able to utilize different drop bars to achieve the desired height of the ball, and the invisihitch just didn't allow for that. So I returned it and bought the Curt hitch. The Curt hitch completely suits my needs. The installation was fairly easy. I didn't drop the exhaust but was able to wiggle the hitch between my aftermarket exhaust and the rear lip. The holes did not match up on the drivers side but it was nothing a few good whacks didn't fix. All in all, great product. Hauls well. Excuse the pic. It's wen I had just picked up the camper and realized I needed a different height drop bar.

I've ordered from etrailer several times and have never had an issue. I've never had to return an item and shipping is always super fast. etrailer is one of my favorite online companies.

2005 Scion xB

only 'hitch' (groan) is one of the 14mm bolts on my scion 05 snapped upon removal. fits perfect - and you do not have to lower the exhaust

by:
2006 Scion xB

I was able to snake it in without lowering exhaust by angling driver side of hitch towards front of vehicle and pulling down on muffler saved some time. Holes didn’t quite lineup used a ratchet strap around passenger side rear tire to pull it to lineup. It took less than a hour with the help of ramps and a Milwaukee 18 volt impact driver and socket adapter. Really like the hitch!!! Going to use it to tow small light trailer.

Quick good service and it would have been an easy installation except the xB bolts were frozen beyond my capabilities. My next order ( soon ) will be a hitch for my new-to-me Camry.

Easy installation and works great on my 2005 scion xb

by:
2005 Scion xB

Ordering was easy and fast. My hitch and custom wiring kit were at my house in a few days. I've already watched a YouTube video showing how easy the install is and encouraged a friend to get one for her vehicle too.

Fit perfectly, and works just as advertised.
Great
customer service to help with my purchase when the original product I'd ordered was not available.
Ordered the next best option, and I'm very happy with the results.
etrailer has always been an excellent source for my towing needs.
Only complaint is the draw bar didn't come with a pin, but sourced one locally with no problem.

Been a year of regular weekly use with this hitch. Very pleased with the performance of this hitch.

by:
2006 Scion xB

I had some problems with the fit of the hitch, and had to really pry on the assembly to get it to line up correctly with the holes. It took me Close to 2 hours to get it on. It just didn’t line up, not sure if something happened in shipping or not....I was not satisfied at all with the time and energy spent installing this item.
The wiring harness in the other hand was excellent, and very quick, works great!

The mounting flanges on a trailer hitch are designed for straight line strength, not lateral strength. The flanges are actually designed to have some give in them, so that they can flex along with the vehicle. This way, if they get flexed during shipping, they can be easily manipulated back into place. As long as the powder coat didnt crack and there arent any cracks in the mounting flange itself, the hitch will work just fine after being moved back into place. Ill link you to a help article that shows a few different methods of manipulating the hitch back into place.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I've had this installed for a year. I've pulled a teardrop trailer about 1500 miles with it so far. It's great. I previously owned the hidden hitch, but I was tired of having to get down on the ground every time I hooked something up. The only downside of this is that it is the lowest point on the car - always. And being in the middle, I sometimes have problems dragging on dirt driveways that have deep tracks. But that's a result of the car height, not this hitch. The hitch has been great.
I knocked it down one star because it didn't quite align with all of the holes during installation. I had to install one side and pull on it a bit to get the other bolts in.

by:
Scion xB

Good product, ok to install even with one person - you may need to use your leg to keep the far end of the hitch level while you work it around the muffler. The toughest part was removing the xB muffler, and it turns out you really don't need to.

I have a 1st gen xB with factory wheels/tires, and the hitch does scrape on some inclines if you go too fast or if there is a dip - if that bothers you, go for the hidden hitch varieties instead. But this one works great and doesn't require special adapters for bike racks or drawbars.

by:

Easy to install no issues and really fast shipping

by:

I've purchased three hitches for three different cars from etrailer.com. The prices are good, the shipping fast, and I hear the customer service is great, not that I've needed it. Oh, the install videos are super helpful too.

by:
2006 Scion xB

The etrailer site helped me choose the correct hitch for my car. Price was right, shipping was fast, great customer service. What more could you ask for?

by:
2004 Scion xB

This hitch is just OK. The receiver was not centered, but only about .5" off, so still usable. The big problem came when I realized that the slotted bolt holes were also .5" off (along the length, as measured from side to side). This was only a pain in the butt because I had to snake this thing back through the exhaust, mount it up on one of my milling machines, and augment the holes on each side. Hopefully Curt will dial this thing in. All in all, it was cheaper than what I could make one for (time and materials), so there ya go.

by:

I had reservations from previous reviews. However, starting with the price and followed by the quality and the delivery this tow hitch exceeded my expectations. The fit was perfect and the installation not difficult at all. I strongly recommend etrailer. I will purchase from etrailer again without hesitation...keep up the good work...

2005 Scion xB

Fits my 05 xB well. Came in with one bracket bent but easy to straighten with a rubber hammer. Had to squeeze the bar over the muffler tip which can be done but you need to undo both of the bumper cover brackets. Other than that went on easy and fits well.

by:

The hitch bolted right on. The hitch comes with better bolts than the stock ones. No problems with bolt hole spacing like others have posted. I did have to remove the rubber mount that holds the muffler up, as i could not fish the hitch over the muffler. A little oil on the rubber mount/post and it slid off nicely.

Curtis 1-1/4" trailer hitchThe trailer hitch was just what I needed for my '05 Scion xB. Thanks for the help on the website, I got my order right the first time. The shippment was extremely quick. I already have it mounted on my vehicle after just a few short days! I will definately be back when I need more items.

by:
2006 Scion xB

product sems solid. More difficult to install than indicated and instructions were not detailed enough. I was fortunate to have accumulated all the tools I needed, but I am guessing that many would not have a 1/2" ratchet extender that was needed for the install. Also, I did not need to lower the muffler as was indicated.

by:

Fit perfectly. I didn’t have to lower the exhaust. Instead, I pulled part of the lower plastic panel off by popping out the plastic clips. Then snaked the hitch around the exhaust. Very happy with the hitch.

by:

A+++++++++

by:

No drilling or fishing bolts through tubes. Fits perfectly. The most difficult part for me was lowering the exhaust. But etrailer has a youtube video that showed me how. That part wasn't easy, but everything else was a snap.

  • Does the Muffler Have to be Removed to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Scion xB
According to the installation instructions for CURT Trailer Hitch, # 11487, you will not need to remove the muffler in order to install the hitch on your 2005 Scion xB. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin, and clip. If you plan to do some towing you will need a ball, # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, use Curt Wiring Harness, # C56030. I have included a link to...

  • Trailer Hitch and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 2005 Scion xB
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C11487 is designed to fit your 2005 Scion xB. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. We do have cargo carriers that feature an 1-1/4 inch opening and are compatible with a Class l trailer hitch but MaxxTow does not offer a cargo carrier that will work. I recommend a carrier like part # 63155. This is a Reese carrier and the inside dimensions measure 47 inches long and 20 inches wide with rails. This carrier has a weight...

I can definitely offer a solution to transport your wife's heavy powerchair but you are in a bit of a pickle. Your 2006 Scion xB was designed as a passenger vehicle which is why there is only 1 trailer hitch available, the Class I Curt # C11487 with the 1-1/4" receiver, and your owner's manual advises against towing anything with it. With that being said, the safest option for you is to use a small trailer to transport the powerchair. This trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of...

With the 2006 Scion xB having a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds, I am going to suggest a different option to pull the Pronto M91 electric wheelchair. You will need to start the same way with a trailer hitch, like the Curt # C11487, but you will need a few more parts to complete this set up. From here you will need a ball mount, like # C45521, a pin/clip to keep it in the hitch, # F-4, and a 2" ball, # A-82, to install in the ball mount. You will also need a wiring harness,...

There is only currently one hitch option for your 2006 Scion xB. It is the Curt Class 1 # C11487. This has a 1-1/4 inch receiver tube for a ball mount or accessory like a bike rack. If you are planning on towing a light trailer, I recommend the ball mount # C45521, pin and clip # F-4, and Hitch ball # A-80. You will also need the wiring harness # C56030 which will plug into the factory wiring harness behind the trim panels on each side of your cargo area.
