Video Transcript for Americana Tire Inflation and Repair - Valve Stems - AM20903 Review

Today we're going to review part number AM20903. This is the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum pressure of eighty PSI and the effective length of one and a quarter inches long. These tubeless rubber snap-in valves stems are designed for passenger car, light duty trailer, and light truck wheels. These valves will allow a cold air tire inflation pressure on the tire of a maximum of sixty-five PSI. These are typically used in steel wheels. These snap-in valve stems have a rubber snap-in base with the plastic cap that goes over the valve.

The effective length on the valve stem is always measured once it's installed in the wheel, so basically where it comes through the wheel to the very top of the cap. On this one the effective length, if we measure, it's going to be right at one and a quarter inches. That should do it for the review on part number AM20903, the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum eighty PSI rating and the inch and a quarter inch effective length. .

I called to ask about aluminum vs galvanized rims and all the pieces & parts i'd need to make up a complete set for my boat trailer. With help from Samantha G. (G= great) I decided on the AM20534 with valve stems from etrailer.com.

Samantha G. gave me a delivery date, they arrived on-time, and I'm very happy with my choice. Thank you Samantha G. I appreciate your assistance.

I put new tires on my trailer wheels so I also replaced the valve stems. These ones I like because they are easy to push through from the inside. A little soap and water makes that easier.

Valve stems were ordered at the same time that I ordered new wheels. Wanted stems to be able to support 75 pounds of pressure if needed and these are rated for that .

Great produce. Great price. Easy to install.
My family has a shared trailer, a small tilt trailer used to transport lawn care equipment. Using the trailer for the first time this year I was reminded, again, when everybody ownes it, nobody ownes it. The valve stem failed which jeopardized a lawn care commitment I'd made to a widow from church. Worse yet, staying well in these viral times meant I couldn't simple have the stem replaced at my local service station.
eTrailer.com to the rescue! Having the parts in stock that I needed, at a great price, with next day delivery made everything work. The tire stem and bearings (another casualty of shared possession) arrived when promised and were quality products. Replacement was easy and, voila, I was able to cut Mrs. Margaret's grass as promised without coming in contact with anyone.
Thanks, etrailer.com!

Very good quality. Used on new bassboat trailer wheels (also purchased at etrailer).
etrailer is a good web provider. Excellent customer service.
Fast order processing and shipping. Good pricing.
I will use their site in the future and suggest that you give them the chance to provide the same service that I received.

Kudos etrailer!

Worked great in my 13" trailer wheel. To install, insert in hole from the inside, turn your valve tool around, screw it onto the stem, grasp tool with pliers or channel lock, pull/wiggle until it seats in the hole. Done. A little tire change lubricant doesn't hurt.

by:

I completed work on a ball discharge system for Boy Scouts in which I used this stem (minus the valve) to connect to a CO2 bicycle inflater. This allowed me to slide the bottom of the stem over the muzzle loading nipple to discharge a stuck ball.

It's very inexpensive and effective.

A pressurized portable air tank with a tire hose line fitted with a control valve will do the same thing.

  • Can ST225/75-15 Tires Fit on Dexstar AM20422 15 x 5 Rim
The ST225/75-15 tire will fit on a 5, 5-1/2, 6, 6-1/2 or 7 inch wide wheel, so it'll fit perfectly on the Dexstar # AM20422 15 x 5 rim you'd looked at. The rims don't include the valve stems. For pressures up to 65 psi, use # AM20903 or # AM20906 for pressures up to and above 100 psi

  • 205/75-15 Tire Rubbing Sidewall on Vintage Trailer
Cool little resto job you did there, thanks for the photo. Regarding the tire rubbing, stiffer leaf springs won't remedy the issue, and the best option is a narrower tire. It will be shorter as well, and you'll have to go with a 13 inch wheel and 175/80-13 as there isn't a narrower 14 inch option. A 205/75-15 tire is 27.1" in diameter and 8.1" wide while a 175/80-13 is 24" in diameter and 6.9" wide, so you'll lose about 1-1/2" in height but gain the inner clearance you need. Just keep...

  • Can I Determine the psi Rating of a Wheel
Since wheels will be able to withstand the psi rating of any of the tires that are meant to fit it you will need to look at the valve stem as that is the deciding factor. If your valve stem has the rubber all the way up to the threads, like part # AM20903, then it will be rated around 65 psi. If there is some reinforcement between the rubber and the threads, like part # AM20904 or # AM20907, then your valve stem can be rated between 80 and 100 psi. The only valve stems that are rated for...

  • Can a 15 Inch Tire Rated for 65 psi Be Used on 15x5 Inch Trailer Wheel 20428
I spoke with our resident tire and wheel expert and he said as long as the tire is appropriately sized for a 15x5 inch wheel such as # AM20428 then you can put a tire rated for 65 psi on it. Make sure the valve stem is also rated high enough. The 15 inch tire size that will fit a 15x5 inch wheel is 205/75-15. And for a load range D in that size we have # AM10245. And for a valve stem rated up to 65 psi we have # AM20903 or for more of a buffer you could use # AM20904 rated up to 80 psi.

The maximum psi rating for a wheel (or rim) is based on the valve stem and the tire rather than the wheel itself. The wheel will have a load capacity but is not restricted by the psi. So, you can choose a wheel with the bolt pattern you desire and then choose a tire and valve stem compatible with the tire load rating at whatever psi.
