Video Transcript for Americana Tire Inflation and Repair - Valve Stems - AM20903 Review

Today we're going to review part number AM20903. This is the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum pressure of eighty PSI and the effective length of one and a quarter inches long. These tubeless rubber snap-in valves stems are designed for passenger car, light duty trailer, and light truck wheels. These valves will allow a cold air tire inflation pressure on the tire of a maximum of sixty-five PSI. These are typically used in steel wheels. These snap-in valve stems have a rubber snap-in base with the plastic cap that goes over the valve.

The effective length on the valve stem is always measured once it's installed in the wheel, so basically where it comes through the wheel to the very top of the cap. On this one the effective length, if we measure, it's going to be right at one and a quarter inches. That should do it for the review on part number AM20903, the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum eighty PSI rating and the inch and a quarter inch effective length. .

I called to ask about aluminum vs galvanized rims and all the pieces & parts i'd need to make up a complete set for my boat trailer. With help from Samantha G. (G= great) I decided on the AM20534 with valve stems from etrailer.com.

Samantha G. gave me a delivery date, they arrived on-time, and I'm very happy with my choice. Thank you Samantha G. I appreciate your assistance.

I put new tires on my trailer wheels so I also replaced the valve stems. These ones I like because they are easy to push through from the inside. A little soap and water makes that easier.

Great produce. Great price. Easy to install.
My family has a shared trailer, a small tilt trailer used to transport lawn care equipment. Using the trailer for the first time this year I was reminded, again, when everybody ownes it, nobody ownes it. The valve stem failed which jeopardized a lawn care commitment I'd made to a widow from church. Worse yet, staying well in these viral times meant I couldn't simple have the stem replaced at my local service station.
eTrailer.com to the rescue! Having the parts in stock that I needed, at a great price, with next day delivery made everything work. The tire stem and bearings (another casualty of shared possession) arrived when promised and were quality products. Replacement was easy and, voila, I was able to cut Mrs. Margaret's grass as promised without coming in contact with anyone.
Thanks, etrailer.com!

by:

Very good quality. Used on new bassboat trailer wheels (also purchased at etrailer).
etrailer is a good web provider. Excellent customer service.
Fast order processing and shipping. Good pricing.
I will use their site in the future and suggest that you give them the chance to provide the same service that I received.

Kudos etrailer!

by:

Worked great in my 13" trailer wheel. To install, insert in hole from the inside, turn your valve tool around, screw it onto the stem, grasp tool with pliers or channel lock, pull/wiggle until it seats in the hole. Done. A little tire change lubricant doesn't hurt.

by:

I completed work on a ball discharge system for Boy Scouts in which I used this stem (minus the valve) to connect to a CO2 bicycle inflater. This allowed me to slide the bottom of the stem over the muzzle loading nipple to discharge a stuck ball.

It's very inexpensive and effective.

A pressurized portable air tank with a tire hose line fitted with a control valve will do the same thing.

  • Replacement 13 Inch Trailer Tire Needed for Old Utility Trailer With 4 Lug Bolt Pattern
I went out to the warehouse and verified that the Americana Conventional Steel Wheel, # AM20202, is stamped for 1,660 lbs at 65 psi. This wheel has a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern and is 13 inches in diameter by 4-1/2 inches wide. If you want new tires as well, I recommend checking out the Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire, # AM10210, or the Kenda Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1ST77. These are load range D tires with a weight capacity of 1,610 lbs at 65 psi. If...

  • Can I Determine the psi Rating of a Wheel
Since wheels will be able to withstand the psi rating of any of the tires that are meant to fit it you will need to look at the valve stem as that is the deciding factor. If your valve stem has the rubber all the way up to the threads, like part # AM20903, then it will be rated around 65 psi. If there is some reinforcement between the rubber and the threads, like part # AM20904 or # AM20907, then your valve stem can be rated between 80 and 100 psi. The only valve stems that are rated for...

  • Replacing Valve Stems to Increase PSI Rating of Rim to Equal Tire
The psi rating will be determined by either the tire or the valve stem of the wheels. If you upgrade your tires you can upgrade the valve stems to meet the necessary psi. We carry several options. Americana # AM20903 are rated up to 65 psi and # AM20904 are rated up to 80 psi. Or for heavier trailers we have # AM20907 rated up to 100 psi and # AM20906 rated over 100 psi which are metal.

  • 14 Inch Galvanized Rim for Boat Trailer With 205/75R14 Tires
A 205/75R14 tire is going to fit on a 14 inch wheel though to get the correct one you will need to know the bolt pattern of your current wheels; I've attached a help article for you which explains exactly how to determine what bolt pattern you need. Our selection of galvanized 14" wheels has a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2" and it is a very common pattern. Should this be the same as yours I recommend the Americana # AM20364, which is a galvanized wheel that is 14" x 6" with a 2,040 lb capacity....

I can definitely help you out with some replacement parts fir your older boat trailer but you're going to need to go with a whole new setup for 2 reasons; the first is that we get all the correct parts, and the second is that replacements parts are easier to find in the future. The hubs we have for 2K axles are about 4" deep so they won't be long enough either. To answer your main question, yes, you can have the valve stems changed out to ones that will work with your tires and the TPMS system. I recommend going to either a local RV/Trailer Maintenance shop or your local tire shop; either of these spots will be able to make these changes on your trailer tires. You could even purchase the stems in advance and have them installed at one of those locations. In order to choose the correct stems, you'll need to know the maximum PSI rating on your tire,...

  • Recommended Replacement Wheels for 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern
Thank you for the photo of your old wheel. That is extremely helpful in this case.To answer your main question, the measurement of the bolt pattern is going to be the most important factor in replacing the wheels on your trailer. The hub bore dimension won't be an important consideration since most wheels now are lug centric-meaning that they're centered and supported by the lug studs on your wheel. I do have a solution for you, however, upgrading to larger tires isn't an option. We recommend at least 3-4 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the fenders and at least 1-2 inches between the side wall and inside of the wheel well. This is necessary to allow for proper suspension articulation, especially when driving on a bumpy road or going over a pot hole. With this in mind, I do not recommend putting larger tires on your travel trailer, but instead using one with a higher...

For determining the max psi for wheels like the Dexstar # AM20746, they are able to withstand the max psi of any tires that are designed to fit with that wheel size. The deciding factor is the tire's valve stem. For example, a valve stem like the Americana Rubber, Snap-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long # AM20903 has a maximum psi of 65. • Where Is the PSI Rating for a Trailer Wheel Located At On the Wheel
The pressure or psi rating of a trailer wheel will come from the valve stem. They do not really rate the wheel itself to a certain psi rating as the limiting factor will always be the valve stem.
