Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I am very happy and relieved to have the hitch with wiring installed. I bought the Sedona in Las Vegas NV and tried to have the hitch installed in LV, but after contacting 7 different U-Haul dealer and being told over and over again that no hitch for my 2021 Kia Sedona was available. A local, Fort Mohave AZ dealer gave me the phone # of etrailer.com , even so I was prepared for a not in stock response, Montrell the sales person that answered the phone said: no problem, we have both in stock and will ship it today. Sure enough, it arrived here on Monday and I had the hitch installed today. Many thanks to Montrell who was very helpful, I could not have better service anywhere. Again thanks

I highly recommend etrailer as I did a year ago.

I ordered this for my husband and this is his review. The box was torn in the corner and it looked like it had seen a rough ride. The products I ordered were all there, the wire harness, ball and insert, and a bracket along with the hitch. When I took the hitch out of the box, I noticed right away the paint was bubbled in many spots and overall, looked like it was done really poorly. A significant amount of the bubbled paint had flaked off. The hitch itself seems really solid and the welds all looked very good. I am hoping to get it on the vehicle this weekend and hope it goes much better than the paint job. I should really return it, but I am not sure the next one would be any better and I really need one this weekend. I sanded off the bubbled and flaked paint and repainted it. I am going to repeat this tomorrow and it should be good to go. Again, I hope the hitch is much better than the paint. I love the videos on Youtube. They are great and give me alot of confidence that I can do this install myself.

Thanks for the review Brenda and your Husband. This is exactly what we would recommend if you noticed imperfections with the paintpowder coating on our hitches. If we notice small surficial scratches in our warehouse we touch them up with paint. Thanks again for your honest feedback and we are very happy that you were able to get your hitch installed and on to your adventures.

2016 Kia Sedona

I've had this hitch receiver kit on my van (2016 Kia Sedona) for a year now an it's been great.

The installation took about a half hour all told. Be aware that you'll have to handle exhaust components on your van in order to install this receiver, so if you've had to drive prior to doing the install, allow some time for your van to cool down.

The install itself was really straightforward; the only tools I had to borrow were a torque wrench and a buddy.

When installed, the hitch sits tight underneath the bumper and is pretty unobtrusive. I bought a cargo basket with an upward angle/rise so that it doesn't sit as low as the hitch when I'm using it.

My only complaint about the project in general is that with the hitch installed, the van is more likely to scrape on inclines and large speed bumps, especially with any weight on the hitch. This isn't really the fault of Draw-Tite or etrailer; the van is fairly low anyway, and any hitch system will have made it even lower still. No stars off for that; just something to be aware of.

Great buy and price, highly recommended.

Super easy to install. Super quality. Not disappointed at all. We are a travel sport family and a we love to camp, so the hitch will get lots of use.

Has worked great. If I had any complaint I would have wanted a wire setup included for trailer lights. Also since this went on a minivan a suggestion or notice informing me that a shock lift or air shocks needed. The weight of the hitch did the van lower.

2016 Kia Sedona

We purchased this trailer hitch for our 2016 Kia Sedona. The hitch arrived in a timely manner (we selected 3-5 shipping days) and was in great condition as well. We plan to use the hitch for a bike rack or for a camper. At the moment, we have only installed it and waiting to use it.

Prior to installing, I watched the installation video provided on the website. It was incredibly detailed and made installing the hitch very easy and I was confident in what I was doing. I appreciate the recommendation to oil the fittings, put a strap around the exhaust before loosening it and the amount of detail provided, down to how many screws come out, for installation. The time is states is pretty accurate. I had difficulty with the loosening the hinges for the exhaust, but the rest was simple. I had my wife assist me in lifting and holding the hitch in place for putting in the bolts. It was simpler for me as I had a car jack, car mounts and tools to do simple work on cars.

We went with this hitch because it had the mounting point on it. We have full confidence that it will do exactly what we plan for it.

by:

Excellent product. Easily installed (even with one person; hardest part was getting the rubber grommets off the exhaust). All parts and instructions included. With only 6 total bolts it was super simple on my 2020 Kia Sedona. The only nit-noid is that the kit could have come with a template to cut the rubberized trim piece (after primary installation), but that would have only saved me the trouble of making my own (which I did)

I plan to use the hitch as a way to attach bike racks and/or storage boxes for long trips. I am not sure it the Sedona is really designed for towing. That being said it looks like this hitch could handle it.

Great product.
I bought the hitch for
my wife’s Kia Sedona so I could use the 4 bike rack that I made. It is definitely overkill just for a bike rack but at the price you can’t go wrong and maybe later I will use it to tow something. It fits perfectly on the minivan and you don’t notice it.
It was really easy to install even being by myself with the back of the van jacked up on stands. Wheels chocked. The installation video was helpful to watch. Lubricating the hangers on the exhaust and using a Ratchet strap is a must especially if doing it by yourself. I rested one side of the hitch on the lowered exhaust while bolting the other side. The only problem I had was one of the bolt holes was either very rusty or the previous owner had some how stripped the threads on the bolt hole so the bolt wouldn’t thread in even after cleaning with a wire brush and lubricating. I had to retap the hole which is easy in itself.
I would say installing the hitch is pretty easy and should take less than 1hr without any hiccups.
Overall I am really happy with the hitch and ease of installation. Very solidly made.
If I was to do it again I would pre-fit the bolts to check and make sure there isn’t any problems like I had.
If your looking for a hitch I would definitely recommend this product.

Bought this hitch so I would be able to take my bike on a cross country road trip with the family. Father in law helped install it, took us a bit over an hour. Hitch worked great for carrying my, and the families bikes.

2017 Kia Sedona

The trailer hitch fits perfectly with no issues on my 2017 Kia Sedona. I was able to install it myself with no help (it is a little heavy though). Also, the plastic cover that the Sedona has on the left side can be modified to put it back again....just need to cut an openning to allow the hitch to get through the cover. I attach a picture showing that.

by:

Flawless instalation. Loved the plug N play wire harness. Pulls my Sylvan sport GO.

I have not had a chance to install the hitch. I was missing the bolts, washers and instructions. I emailed the company and they sent the hardware out right away. Hitch looks great, great customer service. Well worth the 5 ? review.

Good fit. Easy enough installation. Might be worth getting a tool to help remove and install the exhaust rubber hangers to make it even easier.

2017 Kia Sedona

Everything arrived on time and was the correct parts that I ordered. I have no complaints, other than installing the hitch with one person was a little bit of a pain. That was due to the vehicle design and nothing more. I would order from etrailer again.

Kia Sedona

Just a bit difficult to install for my KIA Sedona. I use the trailer hitch receiver for my family's bike rack. From time to time the trailer hitch receiver scrapes the road if the angle is right. The trailer hitch receiver is tough so no issue just a heads up to future buyers. The unit is well made and I would recommend to anyone.

Much easier to be done if you have a second person to help lift

by:

The item was well manufactured and arrived with all needed part for installation. I’ve had the product for 1 year and the paint has shown no signs of wear. The installation instructions need to be update to allow for the bottom body panel on the driver’s side for simple modification and reinstallation which was really simple to achieve. I did it by making a cut in a piece of card board to slide it around the plate that comes through where the panel will be. Make the original clip holes are on that cardboard and use it as a template to make an easy cut in the panel.

2016 Kia Sedona

The hitch mount has stood up great! It was so easy to bolt on, everything lined up with the original holes and frame that were already in my 2016 Kia Sedona Van. The metal and construction looks quality, and after using the hitch for a full year it continues to maintain its strength and do what it's supposed to do. We use the hitch to hold a metal cargo rack insert and a 5 bike rack. We later bought a dual hitch extender insert from another company that allowed us to insert our cargo rack and our bike rack at the same time. This mount has held up so far with the bike rack filled with 5 bikes and the cargo rack filled to capacity.

by:
Kia Sedona

Followed the tutorial video and was able to mount to my 2021 Kia Sedona with relative ease. Best to have a helper but can be accomplished with one person jack and stands. Has held up well through a couple moves with trailer so far. Most challenging part is removing exhaust from hangers to get out of the way! Great product and service, thanks etrailer!

Honda

One year after purchase and still very pleased with this hitch receiver. I only use it for installing a bike rack, so I can only speak to that. It was easy to install, the videos on the website help tremendously. It is installed on a 2019 Kia van and lines up nicely with the contours of the rear of the van. If you weren't looking for it, you might not even notice it. Just a solid piece of equipment. FYI, this is my second one. I also have one of my 2013 Honda which has seen a lot of service, again just for a bike rack, and is showing some rust spots but holding up well. Next vehicle, I will most likely purchase this model for it.

by:

Arrived earlier than expected in good condition. Very easy to install. Even though the trailer was intact I would recommend improved packaging as the box was partially destroyed in transit and three trailer had minor scratches, but it was not a problem.

I am glad that the installation was easy. I would recommend using a rust resistant paint to touch up the scratches. It will allow the finish to last longer.

Good price. Works great.

When I first
tried installing, I thought I was missing parts. Which had me worried because I delayed between ordering and installing. I worried that it'd need to be returned outside of the return window.

I contacted e-trailer with my concern and they responded very quickly. Turns out that some of the hardware was inside of the hitch. All the parts were there. Install went well once I found the parts.

One part of the Install was difficult, but this is because of the design of my minivan, not a fault of the product. I thought I was going to need to buy a specialty part from [another store]. But it turns out that some pliers, a bit of leverage and elbow grease solved the problem.

Then, funny thing, I forgot to put that particular part of the minivan back together. But my 10-year-old son reminded the next day before we drove it anywhere. Whew!

Pontiac Trans Sport Van

I just got around to installing the receiver hitch I bought earlier in the Summer and was overall quite satisfied. When I opened the well packed box, I was surprised to see a pretty major scratch (1" x 12") in the powder coating/paint. It was in an area behind the actual receiver opening, which should have been protected in transport by the shape of the product? Stuff happens, no big deal. It was in an out of site area, so couple of minutes with some sandpaper and gloss black spray paint and is looks fine. I would have ranked the product 5 stars if it weren't for this slight issue.

The video on installing this product was super helpful, and directly led to my purchase. Installation was straight forward. I kept my vehicle on the ground, which made it easy to install by myself using some wood blocks and a jack to hold it in place while I fiddled with the bolts. There is an underside trim panel on the drivers side that needs to be removed. Mine was a little different than the panel in the video, and integrated into the mudflap a bit more. Because of this, I chose to trim it to fit around the receiver hitch, and reinstall it. Measure once, cut 3 times, and it was back in place.

Overall the fit looks great. It is tucked up close to, but not touching the bottom of the car. We plan on using the receiver primarily for a hitch mounted bike rack, which we installed and used yesterday. The bike rack fit well, and was the perfect distance away from the back hatch. Overall, I would recommend Etrailer and will use again if I need anything else.

This hitch has a gloss coat over a powder base coat with gives you superior rust/corrosion protection over the Draw-Tite # 75894. Also, apart from providing you with 400 pounds of maximum tongue weight and 4,000 pounds of maximum towing weight, the Curt hitch is assembled here in the U.S.A.
