Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring - 20027 Review

Today, were looking at part number 20027 from DrawTite. This is a seven-way connector, gives you a seven-foot extension. Here, you have a seven-way flat thing outside of the connector. You attach this to the seven-way on your bumper. Here is the male side, and you put that in your truck bed. You have it available when you want to plug in your gooseneck or fifth wheel. You use this when you cant reach the connector on the bumper from your truck bed.

With seven feet of cord, you should be able to reach pretty much anywhere into your truck bed. You have heavy-duty plastic connectors on both the male and female end, and this should last pretty well. There you have it for part number 20027 from DrawTite, the seven-way connector with the seven-foot cord. .

7 Pole Trailer Connector Loop with Vehicle and Trailer Ends

by:

I used this to extend the trailer harness on my pop up trailer after buying a new tow vehicle. It's not designed for this but it worked well. I atttached this new connector to my pop up trailer then simply plugged my existing plug into this one, extending my trailer plug enough to give it slack when the vehicle turns hard right and left. This cord is heavy duty, would recommend.

We desperately needed a connector for our travel trailer: we have a 2015 4Runner with a plug that sits well under the bumper (apparently unmovable according to our mechanic) and a 2014 Forest River R-Pod. The plug fits the 4Runner but just barely - no room to turn without it disconnecting. So, I set out to find an extension. The hardest part was figuring out what its called. I searched everywhere and finally something clicked and a 7 point connector loop came up - yay! Its very sturdy, fits great and works perfectly. Its long but we will just coil the extra. Happy to have it for our camping trip this weekend. Sorry - no pics.

Great - still working as expected.

I needed to extend the cable from my 5th wheel hitch to the 7-pin connector at the back bumper of my truck. This 7 ' connector works just great. When I was making a sharp angled turn backing into some campground sites, the cable that came with our 5th wheel would stretch tight and try and pull out of the truck. This no longer is a problem with this product.

Working well and happy with the purchase.

The 7-Way Connector is just what I needed to hook-up my 32 Ft. 5th wheel. I am pulling it with a 2013 Tundra and the power plug on the Tundra is under the Bumper. So the 7 Way Connector did the Trick. Very excellent quality!

Thanks, Bill

ITS STILL WORKING GREAT! NO PROBLEMS.THANKS, BILL

I decided to by this extension rather than install the in-bed outlet. I could have gone either way but needed it in a hurry and didn't have time to install, and also this way was a bit less $$. This works fine other than you have to figure out a way to deal with the extra length and to keep it from laying across your tailgate. In any case, eTrailer's website is one of the best I've seen for education and ease of use.

Still using this extension wiring harness with no problems. For the number of times I pull my 5th wheel, this works just fine. If I used it a lot more it might be worthwhile to install the in-bed outlet.

by:

This product has served me well in the past year to allow travel trailer hook up to inside of truck bed. Truck was set up for fifth wheel without bumper connections originally. Great quality product for the price.

Still working great. Thanks.

by:

This product has solid brass electrical connection conductors. My experience has taught me that for a good low resistance connection, and reliability this is the best situation. Plated connection conductors on many of the cheaper competitors will not provide the service and reliability that a product like this with its brass connection conductors will!

by:

This connector is a fine product, and it saved me time and expense as I did not have to drill another hole in my truck.
Delivery time was only a few days.

Working great as intended

by:

Serves as a great extension connection for my F250 which had 7 pin connector in bed, cable runs to my car hauler connector at the hitch. Works great.

by:

Received part with no problem and quick. Thanks again

by:

The cord on our new trailer is too short to make right turns without becoming unplugged, and this fits the bill. While we don't have the new one yet, we did do a test drive with it and our current hookup works. This was tested on out current one and it works, so it solves the problem we will have without it on the new one. This has the standard vehicle end socket for the trailers male connector to go in and the plug that goes into the vehicle. They lock when plugged in. I will use winter type ty lines to attach this.

by:

Had a problem connecting a horse trailer to the hitch on my friend's pickup truck because the truck's prior owner had towed a 5th-wheeler and had mounted the 7-way socket on the side-wall inside the truck bed. The short 7-way extension we had on hand required us to remove the tail gate each time we needed to tow. This 7-Way Connector 7' Loop was absolutely what we needed to solve our problem. Very, very smart and sensible product! Well worth the price!

by:

I am very pleased with the product that I purchased online from etrailer.com!! It arrived in less time than promised and was exactly what I was looking for. I went out and plugged it into my truck and it works just as I anticipated that it would. This seven foot extension 7 way plug is perfect for plugging a truck camper into the electrical system of a short bed truck without cutting and splicing and taping. Thanks for providing an excellent product!!

by:

it is exactly what I expected to show up. seems like great quality. WOW DID IT GET HERE FAST. I am planing on using this to extend my wiring to for a hitch extender so I can carry bikes between my tow vehicle and pop-up camper. Also to use this to charge my battery while camping in the case of an emergency so we can have our heater running all night. I ordered the hitch extender the day before I ordered this. still waiting for the hitch extender, (not that it is getting here slow, just the 7-way connector got here fast).

by:

Product fits my need precisely. My vehicle rear trailer electrical connection is far out on the right side well away from the hitch, assuming it is a spare tire consideration. The extension connection I purchased is well constructed, with durable, tough wire and plugs.

by:

Loop connector arrived right when we needed it; new utility trailer connection cord too short for where our receptor plug is located (in the bed of the truck) and this 7' extension was just perfect for our purposes. No fuss, now need to rewire things, easy breezy! Thanks for providing a quality product in a reasonable time frame!

by:

Very nice looking and well-constructed connector cable. Very heavy duty (as it should be), and It is exactly what I hoped it would be. This resolves a problem that arose because I needed to put a hitch extender on my truck to ensure clearance between my tailgate (down position) and the trailer jack post (and propane tanks) on my tent trailer.

I tow this trailer when hauling a Razor, and the tailgate of my truck has to be down in order to fit the Razor in the bed. Perfect Fix! Thanks etrailer, and thanks in particular to "Charles S" from etrailer for his response to my question about how to solve this problem.

by:

When we purchased our new truck we found out that the 7-Way connector on our travel trailer wasn't long enough to connect to the truck as the connection port was now inset into the license plate area on the truck. The connector allowed us to still be able to connect the truck to the travel trailer without having to rewire the trailer. Exactly what we needed, and it works great. Thanks etrailer.com!

by:

My truck was set up originally for a fifth wheel. This cord now allows me to tow anything! To add a permanent receptacle on the rear bumper was almost $200.00 using Ford parts. My order shipped almost immediately and arrived in about a week using standard shipping! "etrailer" has my business from now on!!

by:

Thank you for the super fast shipment!
Order
arrived the next day.
It help alot having multiple high quality photos and videos describing each item.
I'll let you know how the air over electric controller works out, doubtful I will have any problems as it very straight forward installation with detailed instructions.
The 5th wheel RV should be a little easier to handle than the 53' trailer.

by:

I received the ordered items on time as expected without delay. Everything I ordered was in the package received without damage and to my satisfaction.

The product I ordered was my trailer lighting. The extension cable will saved me the hustle of re-wiring the trailer to suit the requirement.

Keep up the good work.

by:

I worked with Natalie at etrailer she really took the time to make sure I was getting the right product for my specific needs I would highly recommend working with Natalie at etrailer she certainly represents great customer service when the product arrived for the wiring harness it was perfect thanks again Natalie !!

by:

Well described. Great price. Very helpful customer service. I have plugged it in for my slide in camper and tested all the functions and it works as described. I have no long term testing.

by:

Used as an extension for my gooseneck trailer. Works perfectly and seems very durable.

  • Truck Bed 5th Wheel Trailer Wiring for a 1998 Chevy C/K Series Pick-up Truck
On your 1998 Chevy C/K Pick-up truck, the center of the 5th wheel trailer hitch jaw should be 1-1/2 inches forward of the center of the rear axle. If you measure from that point back to the trailer connector, that will be the measurement you need. If you determine that you need an extension, I recommend the 7-Way Connector, # 20027. You can plug one end into the 7-Way at the back of the vehicle, route the wire under the truck and up inside a side rail in the bed, and then mount the other...

  • Availability of 7-Way Connector Shorter than 7 Feet
I have some options for you, but unfortunately I could not find a 7-Way 5th wheel/gooseneck wiring Connector Loop shorter than the Draw-Tite # 20027. I recommend simply looping up any excess and wrapping a zip tie # DW05727-25 around it to adjust it to a shorter length. If your tow vehicle has a 7-way at the bumper that uses a US-Style car connector, another option is to install a 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Harness in line by using the Curt # C56000. This will provide you with a 7-way connection...

The 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, is the kit we recommend for use at the rear of the vehicle but not for in-bed mounting for a gooseneck trailer. We do have specific 7-Way harnesses for that purpose. You can use the 7-Way Connector 7 foot Loop, # 20027. One end plugs into an existing 7-Way at the rear of the 1994 GMC Sierra and the other end can be mounted in the bed. If you do not already have a 7-Way you will need to install a 4-Way, # 118315, (installation details linked below),...

Yes, I can assist you in finding a fifth-wheel hitch for your 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab with 5.5 bed. You will need an installation kit, fifth wheel hitch, wiring, and since you have such a short truck bed you will need to use a Sidewinder coupler. For an installation kit, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP50142-58. For a fifth-wheel hitch I would recommend Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs, part # RP30928, which has a 20,000 pound...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for Towing 5th-Wheel Trailer Behind 2012 Ford F-250
I think you may be looking for something like the Draw-Tite 7-Way Connector 7 Ft Loop # 20027. This extension will allow you to run the harness under the tailgate like you mentioned in your question. However, I do not recommend doing this as running the wires under the tailgate will leave them exposed and possibly lead to them being damaged. I instead recommend using the Pollak 5th Wheel/Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole # PK11893-11932. This socket will plug into the OEM harness and...
