Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

Tail Light T Connector Diagram

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area. It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

My trailer hitch arrive within 3 days. It was easy to install. Customer service personnel were courteous and helpful.

Trailer Hitch is doing well. I have not had any problems. I pull a 5x8 trailer.

by:
2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Trailer Hitch was no problem went in without a hitch. Punny.
The wiring harness is another story. Need a little bit more wire for the connectors to mount easily, had to pull slightly to get connected to the light assembly.
Tested the lights ( running, right and left turn signal) all worked , but the brake lights never come on when depressing the brake pedal. All of this was tested with the tester.
in the Curt harness the completion is the Tech testing the lights. In the one you substituted (Tec....) kit there is no test performed. Has anyone checked to see if the harness is compatable to the tester or vice versa. I have disconnect the lights cover connecters twice now and everything is the same ,no brake lights.
on the curt kit install the running lights are a single light indication. like the turn signal. the brake indication is all lights lite , and the turn signal glow stronger and blink.
My indication is no running lights on turn signal work OK. running lites on all led's lite. Press brake pedal and no change in lights on tester. turn signal work the same as above. I am completely lost ? Is it the wire harness, the tester, there is a reason that the curt Tech tested in the video but, the one in the other brand did not!!!! ?
also is the end of the trailer hitch supposed to extend out from my bumper by 3.X inches . if so it doesn't . it is back under the bumper by about that much. See beginning of Curt hitch installation , where Tech is discussing the hitch. Maybe the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport changed in 2017 and you need to check your products. Not pleased with the installation or wire harness.

Joseph, Thank you for your review on 118571. When testing a 4 way with the circuit tester curt I26 your brake light is combined with the left and right turn signals because it is a combined wiring system. As long as these two signals light up your brake light should be working. If all the LEDS are lighting up then you may need to make sure your 4 way is properly grounded. The white wire needs to be grounded on a clean bare metal surface. I have attached a link for troubleshooting a 4 and 5-way wiring setup. Also, the curt hitch for the Santa Fe extends 5-1/2 inches from center of hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of your bumper. I have attached a link for troubleshooting a 4 and 5-way wiring setup.

I didn't know if my Santa Fe Sport had a trailer package (it was an Enterprise rental that I purchased). During installation of the wire package I found two capped wire connections. A hint on the order may have clued me what to look for. I suspect that if I would have called you you would have been able to advise me. So, IF there was an error I didn't do my part to help!

by:
2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

With the help of a mechanic, a lift and all the right tools the hitch went on easily. The wiring harness was a little challenging as connections had to be made directly to each tail light. It required finding existing holes to run the wiring harness which required pulling the back panels loose and removing the storage area compartments. This is where the mechanic came in handy as he knew what to pull to pop things loose. I am very pleased with the communication with the eTrailer staff in making sure I had the correct parts needed to install my hitch.

by:

I would probably give a four star I ended up not using it cause I found the out i actually had trailer package and brought a different one from you guy so I don't know how well it would of turn out but I didn't like the complicate installation. But overall you guy do sell good and great product that are usually hard to find in mine town, I do plan to keep buying mine outdoor equipment from you guy since you guy usually have sale all the time which that is great deal and make me want to keep coming back.
Keep up the good work!

The wire connecting the two rear taillight connectors is not long enough. Needs to be at least another 12 inches. It was very difficult to get the taillights back into their assemblies due to the huge plastic pieces that due to the small amount of wire, I could not get into the proper place.

by:
2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

Instructions for installation were crap. Inside rear panels had to come off to install the wiring into the rear of the tail light. Instructions made no mention of inside panel removal. 2018 Santa Fe. Instructions were from outer space no good. Plug and play wiring worked fine once installed

by:
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

The hitch and wiring harness arrived quickly and in excellent condition.
The hitch installed easily and quickly. The wiring harness took longer to install on my new Santa Fe Sport than expected but was not difficult. The online videos were a great help as the instructions that came in the package are hard to follow. Excellent service and a great product. Great pricing also.

I bought the Curt custom hitch receiver Class III and T-one wiring harness for my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. Great customer service, they had my order delivered in 2-3 days. Easy instillation and looks great.
Thanks etrailer!

by:
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Instructions were great, but the cables give you 0 slack! The driver side wireing in particular had zero slack and was very difficult to install, in fact it was so tight that the white ground cable broke and had to get extended. If there were several more inches of wireing, the installation whould have gone a lot more smoothly. Fortunatley i know how to do simple wireing and was able to finish the install.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

by:

Everything went together as stated . The videos are terrific. I would recommend to anyone needing a trailer hookup..... Very easy

by:

I haven't installed my trailer hitch yet, but the service from Seth was excellent.
I received my order in only two days, and it is right before Christmas.
I ordered a curt trailer hitch and wiring harness. Very quick service.

by:
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have 2 issues with this wiring harness:
1)
the ground cable was 6" too short, Therefore, I had to splice a 6" lead to the ground cable.
2) the cable leading from the left taillight to the right taillight needs to be 2" longer to allow for for a more relaxed run.

by:

I ordered the wrong wiring harness! Found out after pulling driver side rear panel and seeing it’s pre-wired from factory. Got to exchange for correct wiring harness! My bad!

by:
2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Worked fine. I had originally installed another brand that kept blowing the fuse and shorting out other lights. This one has worked well for about a year.

by:

Not real happy, the proiduct did not fit properly. The wiring over to the passenger tail light was about a foot too short. We had to splice in our own wiring to make it reach tail light.

by:
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Wiring from taillights a little short, had to lengthen them. Connectors all fit like factory.

by:

Straight forward installation

by:

Great product. excellent customer service. Very good videos to help install. I strongly recommend etrailer.com

Purchases were delivered on time without damage. Pricing was no contest. etrailer's pricing was Significantly lower than all competitors. I will order from etrailer again.
Customer service was super!

Yes, we do have trailer wiring options for your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. If you have a GLS, Limited, or Sport model with the factory tow package use wiring harness # HM11143965. For a Sport without factory tow package use # 118571. For a GLS or Limited without factory tow package use # C56184.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe without Trailer Hitch
It's almost guaranteed that if you don't have the trailer hitch installed on your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe that you don't have the factory towing package. That would mean for trailer wiring you'd need the part # 118571. If you had the towing package the kit, you'd need instead is the part # C56332. You'd have to remove the panel you see pointed out in the attached picture under the car to determine if the correct wiring is present. You wouldn't be able to see that without removing the panel.

Out of these three options I recommend the etrailer # e98841 as it is tied with the Curt # C13152 for the highest ratings at 900lbs tongue weight and 6000lbs trailer weight rating, but it has a matte black powder coat finish which best matches the plastic trim on the bottom of your rear bumper.
