Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels of your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within the spare tire compartment of your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great customer service and fast delivery. The ladies on the phone were super knowledgeable & friendly. I haven't installed the hitch yet, but I'm sure that it is the exact fit.

by:

I'm 70 years old and did the entire install myself other than running the power cable up to the battery from the rear bumper. I would have done that as well but couldn't fit under the vehicle without jacking it up. My local gas station did that for free in about 5 minutes. It went in easily. It is working fine. Very happy with the product. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

by:

I ordered the T-one Vehicle Wiring Harness for a 2013 Hyundai Tucson to put on my Mother-in-laws vehicle. The instructions were okay, but I just had to throw them out. After I removed the first piece that I was supposed to in order to run the wiring harness through, the wires wasn't long enough to reach the tail lights, and the hole was too big for the rubber piece that was on the harness. I ended up having to run the harness a different route and everything was mounted underneath the vehicle. Hopefully wet weather doesn't affect the functioning of the harness.

2016 Hyundai Tucson

Wiring for the driver's side is about 3" too short, it's workable but close. The hitch went on very easily, about 20 minutes, and that was laying on the ground to install. I'm 70 years old and did it by myself. Great product.
The tester I26 made checking the wiring very easy.
Items arrived on time and I'm good condition. Very happy with my purchase.

I’m not very mechanically inclined, but MAN! This product was easy to install, and exactly what I needed. I used etrailers video to help with installation, and it was like having someone walk me through the process. Make sure you get a fish tape or something to help run the wire.

The product itself isn’t complex… if you want to add a harness for trailer lights to your Tucson, this is the kit. I have no complaints and am so glad I purchased from etrailers.

2012 Hyundai Tucson

This was clearly designed for my car (2012 Hyundai) as the wires were all the right lengths and the connectors snapped together easily and positively. The directions were surprisingly good. The only issue (a small one) was that the access hole they refer to was visible from under the car but not from the spare tire well as implied in the directions. It was easy to fish the wires through (a coat hanger or kids with small hands make it easy!) and into the trunk.

There was a delay in delivery, but I was contacted a couple of times to inform me of this and to assure me that it was soon to be on its way. I received it about two days later. Appreciated the note to let me know. The delay (about 5 days) was not an issue for me.

Highly recommended- both the product and etrailer.com.

It has been trouble free and far better than the local trailer retailer harness that was originally installed and failed. I remain very happy.

by:

The wire harness has held up well. I have not had any issues with it working. After reviewing a video on how to remove the tail lights, the installation was simple and straightforward.

More important, I sumitted the wrong year of my car, hence the wrong harness. When brought to etrailers attention, they were chill about it and directed me to return the the harness and sending out the correct one.

Definitely my go to company for wiring harness needs.

by:

I received the harness on time with three day shipping. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. Any time I got confused, I watched your video. The directions are very good, but having the video for my vehicle made it a breeze!
The lights run off the car battery, instead of the existing wires, eliminating short circuits. 100% better than the $15 harness I was going to get.
The light plugs fit perfectly! NO SPLICING WIRES!
I highly recommend this harness!

Just used a rental trailer last week. The harness actually got compliments on the the harness system from the rental employees for how neat the harness was! I told him I got it online at E-trailer.com. He will be a customer for sure.

2017 Hyundai Tucson

Everything was ok with this till you try to reinstall tail lights, The T connectors are close to one another and need more length to drop extra plug down into body,
Extra connector stops tail light from mounting between body and light fixture,
Other than that it's ok.

Connector corroded before I could even use harness had to replace with another connector even with supplied cover. Other than that problem everything else is fine and still would buy from them again

2016 Hyundai Tucson

it for sure was not easy and all the videos were saying a 2016 but for sure not my 2016 was not as stated . sorry but poor rating , what was the problem as the whole that was for pulling up the wires had wires in that rubber , where you say to pull up I could not even put in a finger but did get the 4 prong connector threw after I pulled off a bunch of plastic that broke as it was not made to come off I think . then the black box was too big threw the whole and as far as the rest iot did not go better POOR would take pics to show how I just taped it to the out side , also that self taping screw I had to drill a hole first as here you said to put just did not work in that area

Thank you for your review! It seems like there is a little confusion with some of the installation steps. I took a look at the installation instructions and they do mention there could be an existing wire in the grommet. You will need to cut the rubber piece of the t-connector to allow the wire through. The instructions also address needing to drill a hole for the ground in step 8. And finally, the converter box will not go through the grommet hole, it will be taped in the cargo area like shown in the video at time stamp 04:40 of the 2015 Tucson installation video. If you continue watching the install video from there, you will see how and where they drill down the ground wire. I hope this helps!

Awesome product fit perfectly not too difficult to install.

Took longer to wire than installing the hitch, didn’t know I had to run line from battery. Ok install instructions,

by:

This hitch is great! Very simple to install and it fit perfectly on my 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The wiring took a little bit of time but went together just as they said. I am thoroughly pleased with every step from buying to installing. Thank you etrailer!

So far this harness has not failed unlike the one I bought previously. I forget the brand name that failed but something in the black box caused problems with the Hyundai's electrical system.

2017 Hyundai Tucson

Delivered promptly. Fit perfectly.

by:

Everything was as described. The videos were very helpful. The only point where I needed help (other than a second person helping during the install) was tightening the nut on the ball where it mounts to the tongue. This requires a LARGE wrench. A local muffler/radiator shop was glad to do it and didn't even charge me. I have used the hitch several times now and on one occasion pulled a U-Haul trailer full of furniture from south Florida to north Texas. On another occasion I pulled a trailer that was VERY heavily loaded with flooring about 50 miles over some very uneven roads. The hitch has always performed perfectly. Could not be happier with the product or the company.

by:

Excellent and easy to install

by:
2015 Hyundai Tucson

If, AND ONLY IF, you follow the instructions and install this the way they say, it works fantastically. In my 2015 Hyundai Tucson, I first installed this with the connector mounted in an enclosure and attached to my hitch, creating a more factory look for the harness. In order to do this, I had to leave the converter box mounted underneath the vehicle (instead of inside). It worked great for about a month, at which point the box got wet enough that water caused the connections inside to arc and it melted the converter box.

Round 2, I followed the instructions and installed the box inside the car and pull the wire out through the back hatch when I need it. It's worked great for the last year without any issues. I highly recommend, but only if you follow the instructions! The installation video is your friend!

  • Parts Needed to Tow a Small Trailer with a 2018 Hyundai Tucson
For your 2018 Hyundai Tucson I recommend using the Curt # C13240 because Curt hitches have a little thicker powder coating on them, so they'll stand up to nicks and scratches better; this helps prolong the life of the hitch and help prevent corrosion. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver that's ideal for towing, and I recommend going with the 2 inch receiver over a 1-1/4". You'll also need a wiring harness, ball mount, hitch ball and hitch pin to give you everything you need to tow a trailer....

It will install similarly to the video on the 2016 you mentioned and that I have linked for you. If you plan on doing some towing the recommended ball mount is # 36051. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring you can use # 118501 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.

When we research towing capacities we base it off of what the owner's manual says but for some unknown reason there are no online manuals available for a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. I did take a look at the Hyundai website and as you said it listed the SEL Plus as having a 2,000 lb towing capacity as opposed to the 1,500 lb capacity of the SE and SEL; however, it looks like the SEL Plus only has some interior features differentiating it from the SE and SEL so it would not make sense for the capacity...

What I recommend for Curt cargo carrier # C18151 is light kit # 20174. To mount the lights you will also need 2 of bracket # BK70BB. You can use self-tapping screws to secure the brackets to the top, rear rail of the carrier. This set up is the most cost effective option. It would plug into a 4-way trailer wiring connector. Even Though The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13240 is rated for a 525 pound tongue weight, since your vehicle's manual states that you have a maximum tongue weight of 220 pounds you 100% can not exceed the 220 pounds.
