When installing the 7-way Upgrade Kit for Wireless Trailer Brake Controllers # ETBC7L you do not need to disconnect the battery due to only one wire (The black power wire) getting connected to the battery.
I recommend connecting the 4-way connector on your vehicle to the 4-way connector on the # ETBC7L and then run the power wire to the positive terminal of the battery.
Depending on the trailer hitch receiver you choose for your vehicle you may need a no-drill mounting bracket # 18136.

I am sorry to hear about the fitment problems!
Based on what you are describing it sounds like the mounting flanges on the hitch were slightly flexed during shipping and are causing the bolts on the one side of the Curt # C13281 to not quite line up right on your 2021 Kia Sportage.
This is not too uncommon due to how large and heavy hitches are, and we have made a dedicated help article that goes over exactly how to correct it.
You will want to use one of the steps shown in the included... view full answer...
Great news, I have a diagram and found out that for your 2013 Kia Sportage 2.4L 4 Cylinder you will want to mount the Kats Block Heater # KH11812 in the 2nd RR position, shown on the attached diagram. This cartridge-style heater simply clips into the cavity of your engine block.
I have linked the above mentioned product to this page for your viewing convenience. view full answer...
The four, five, six and seven pole adapters refer to the trailer connector that supplies power to the trailer for the lighting circuits. A small utility trailer such as the one you are wanting to purchase would use a 4-pole connector like the one supplied on the end of the wiring harness for your Sportage, part # 33925. Different adapters are offered so that the 4-pole connector can be used with trailers that utilize different connectors. view full answer...
From what I could find it looks like if it is a FWD you can tow it using a tow dolly and if you have a 4WD then it needs to be towed with all of the wheels off of the ground. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can flat tow your 2012 Kia Sportage though. You can verify this with your copy of the owner's manual or your nearest Kia dealer.
If you have a FWD and would like a tow dolly then I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1. This has a weight capacity of 4,250 lbs and comes... view full answer...
We confirmed with Curt that their hitch # C13281 that you referenced fits all models of the 2022 Kia Sportage including your SX Turbo AWD model.
There is no drilling to install this hitch and you may need to trim the rear fascia slightly before you reinstall it. I attached an install video for this on a similar Sportage for you to check out as well. This would work great with a bike rack like the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z. view full answer...
The Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75717 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13120 are both confirmed fits for your 2016 Kia Sportage SX and will work well for you. They have a Class III rating with a 2" receiver tube opening.
The process of modifying the vehicle for either hitch is a possibility but not always needed. The only way to tell for sure if you will need to do this would be to install the hitch, then reattach the rubber isolators to see how they... view full answer...
When installing a breakaway system and the Replacement Tekonsha Trailer Breakaway Switch # 420000 you asked about, there is no need to add a circuit breaker or in-line fuse. I've attached a help article for the installation of a system as well as a video of an installation to assist. view full answer...
The installation instructions for installing a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 on a vehicle are very universal. So we may not have instructions that are specific to your 2012 Kia Sportage, but I can give you installation instructions that will apply to your vehicle.
The first thing you will need if you do not have one already is a 4-way at the rear of your vehicle, for that I would recommend you get a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118526. Check out the installation... view full answer...
The head of the threaded anti-rattle bolt on your SportRack Pathway Deluxe 3 Bike Rack - 1-1/4", 2" Hitches - Single Arm - Locking - Tilting Item # SR2703 is 3/4" so you'll need a 3/4" wrench or socket to remove the bolt. view full answer...
On your Ford Flex you will first want to remove the driver's side kick panel. Once the panel is exposed you will then need to look for a large rubber grommet which contains a bundle of wires that runs from the cab to the power distribution center (PDC) in the engine bay compartment. This grommet is usually located where the steering shaft goes through the firewall and connects to the rack and pinion. You can either remove the wire loom from the bundle of wires and then slide the 12 volt... view full answer...

Nope, the Curt TriFlex NEXT # C24VV will not have to set up and be recalibrated when the vehicle is turned off, it will keep the settings you use. view full answer...
Good news! The Curt hitch # C13281 is a no drill application, which means the 4 bolt holes on the hitch are all that it takes to mount this hitch to your vehicle. These mounting holes are already predrilled on your vehicle's frame for easy installation.
I do have one suggestion for you though. I would recommend the etrailer hitch # e72TR over the Curt brand because to be compliant with Curt's warranty you will need to use a stabilization strap like # 18050 on all non trailer loads, which... view full answer...
The reason you want to run the power wire all the way up to battery is so that you bypass all of the delicate wiring of your vehicle. The power wire is required on trailer wiring harnesses for some vehicles because the electrical system on those vehicles cannot handle the amperage draw associated with trailer lights.
I attached an FAQ article on routing the power wire for you to check out as well.
Thanks for the feedback on the hitch install! I'm glad it went well for you. view full answer...
With a smaller trailer like you describe, electric brakes would be my recommendation both from a cost standpoint as well as the ease of installation.
For the trailer, you would need two hub/drum assemblies and two brake assemblies. To determine if the hub/drum assemblies we offer are compatible with your trailer spindles, you will need to pull one of your idler hubs off, and look at the inner and outer bearing numbers. The hubs we offer, part # AKHD-545-35-K use # L68149 inner bearings... view full answer...
I believe you are referring to the trim panel behind the rear bumper that needs to be removed in order to access the connection points for installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118526 in your 2014 Kia Sportage. This center threshold trim piece along with the trim panel on the driver's side will be removed by loosening and removing the screws that hold them into place.

One of the primary purposes of drawing the power for the taillights directly from the battery is to isolate the wiring system of the vehicle from the trailer wiring. This way, the vehicle wiring will be protected from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring. Installing the wiring harness in the manner you describe would also void your warranty coverage.
I can't recommend you install the Tow Ready # 118526 in any other way than what the manufacturer recommends. You can... view full answer...
The T-One wiring harness # 118526 for your 2011 Kia Sportage provides the basic lighting functions only for the trailer in its 4-Way flat connector. It does not have a 12 volt circuit. The power wire used by the harness is what powers the trailer lights. It uses the tail light connections for the proper signals.
If the trailer also has just a 4-Way then it also does not have a 12 volt circuit. Unless, and some people do this, the running light circuit is also attached to the trailer battery.
