Question:
Do you have a how to on installing a Prodigy 2 brake controller on a 2012 Kia Sportage? Its rated for 2000 pounds and Manitoba law states that anything over that has to have electric brakes. I dont want to take a chance plus I want to have electric brakes installed to ease the load on the tow vehicle. The trailer I purchased has electric brakes on it already.

The installation instructions for installing a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 on a vehicle are very universal. So we may not have instructions that are specific to your 2012 Kia Sportage, but I can give you installation instructions that will apply to your vehicle.
The first thing you will need if you do not have one already is a 4-way at the rear of your vehicle, for that I would recommend you get a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118526. Check out the installation video and installation instructions for this product for you to check out.
Next you will need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. For that you will need a Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC7. This comes with everything you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and to make it fully functional. I attached installation instructions and an installation video on a similar vehicle as yours for you to check out.
I attached an installation video for the Prodigy P2 Brake controller also.
