On your Ford Flex you will first want to remove the driver's side kick panel. Once the panel is exposed you will then need to look for a large rubber grommet which contains a bundle of wires that runs from the cab to the power distribution center (PDC) in the engine bay compartment. This grommet is usually located where the steering shaft goes through the firewall and connects to the rack and pinion. You can either remove the wire loom from the bundle of wires and then slide the 12 volt power wire for the brake controller though or you can just simply poke a hole in the grommet and run the wire though that way.
In order to install a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 on your Ford Flex you will need both a 4-way wiring harness and a 4 to 7-way adapter like part # ETBC7. If you can let me know what year Ford Flex you have I would be happy to offer the correct 4-way harness for you and provide you with an install video if available.
