The Fulton strap part # FWS20HD0200 that you referenced would work great for what you mentioned. This is 20 feet long and has a 4,000 lb capacity. I went to our warehouse and pulled some of this Jacketed 2 Wire, part # 12-2-1, to measure for you with a pair of digital calipers. The width of the 2 wires with the jacket measures .364 inches. It measures .209 inches thick. Each individual wire when removed from the jacket measure .122 inches thick.

I strongly recommend not using an adapter but instead using a bike rack compatible with your hitch. It is recommended to only carry 2 bikes on a Class I hitch. I would suggest a rack like the Curt # C18085. It weighs 46 pounds, holds two bikes, and has a capacity of 90 pounds so you will be able to safely carry your bikes without exceeding the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity.

I spoke with my contact at Curt about trailer hitch # 11765. He stated that when the hitch is installed the receiver tube, which will be the lowest point, will be about 1-3/4 inches to 2 inches below the bottom of the rear fascia. What you can do is park your 2004 Audi TT on level ground and measure up from the ground to a point that is about 2 inches below the rear fascia and that is where the bottom of the receiver will be. It sounds like your 2015 Audi Q7 does not have the factory tow package. To add a 7-way to your Audi you will need two separate wiring harnesses.
