Question:
I have an Audi allroad 2002. I want to be able to use a 2 inch horizontal bike rack. How much wight can I attach? This will not be used for towing. Approximate weight of rack and bikes is 200 pounds. Thanks you for your help.

I strongly recommend not using an adapter but instead using a bike rack compatible with your hitch. It is recommended to only carry 2 bikes on a Class I hitch. I would suggest a rack like the Curt # C18085. It weighs 46 pounds, holds two bikes, and has a capacity of 90 pounds so you will be able to safely carry your bikes without exceeding the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity.
The tongue weight capacity on the trailer hitch for your 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro will be reduced by 50 percent by using an adapter like # HTAD. You will have to check the tongue weight capacity of your hitch to determine what the tongue weight capacity will be reduced to.
If the current tongue weight capacity is 200 pounds (standard for a Class I hitch) then with the adapter you will only be able to carry 100 pounds. At 200 pounds your rack and bikes will exceed the limit and damage to the hitch, rack, bikes, or vehicle could occur.
