Video Transcript for Review of Deka Wiring - 12-10 Gauge Butt Connector - DW05745-1

Jeff Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Deka yellow butt connector for 12 to 10 gauge size wire. It is for a quantity of one connector. Now this yellow butt connector will join two lengths or 12 gauge or 10 gauge size wire. It insulates the connection with this heat shrinkable nylon for adjustability and durability.

And the yellow color will indicate the size wire this connector will fit. The 12 to 10 to gauge size. Also if you look closely on it, it is also stamped on there, 12 to 10 gauge AWG. Which is telling me the wire size this is designed for. Now to install your wire, what you'll do is strip off about a 1/4 of an inch of insulation on the end of each wire that you're wanting to connect.

Insert one end of the stripped wire in to there. Until it goes all the way and it won't go any further. Basically in the very middle they have a blocking thing that when you push your wire in there it'll stop the wire. That means you're fully inside this metal casing. Once it's in that metal casing then you'll just take a crimper and crimp down on that side.

And it'll crimp the wire to make your connection. And then you'll do the same with the second wire. You'll strip a 1/4 of an inch off it. Stick it all the way in til goes no further. Crimp that side down.

And then once you have them both crimped, what you might wanna do is tug on the wire to make sure you got a good connection. Then what you'll do is you get a heat source like a heat gun and then apply heat over the whole insulation. And that'll cause this heat shrink insulation to completely shrink and seal around that connection. And it prevents the elements from causing a problem with your connection. Now this is for a quantity of one connector. We do also sell these available in a 5 pack. Which is part number D-W-0-5-7-4-5-5. And a 10 pack which is part number D-W-0-5-7-4-5-10. But that should do it for the review on this Deka yellow butt connector for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire..

  • Do I Have To Run a New Power Wire When Replacing Curt 4-Way Connector # C56261?
With replacing your Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56261 you can reuse the same power wire running to the battery. This wire is connected with a Butt Connector # DW05745-1 and can be simply replaced with the new kit.

  • Trouble Locating Green Wire To Connect To 12 Gauge Blue Wire In Tekonsha 7-Way Harness
For the 12 gauge blue wire connection you will not have to remove the liner completely. You will only need to remove enough of the screws to allow you to be able to find the connector inside the fender well. Many have trouble finding this connection and if you wish you can actually run the wire another way. The wire is simply the factory brake output. A simpler way of running the wire would be to run it into the vehicle and connect it to the blue wire on the brake controller harness....

  • Troubleshooting Charge Line Not Functioning on 2017 Winnebago View
Based on your pictures your 2017 Winnebago View does in fact have a charge line. The + on the number 4 pin should have 12 Volt power. If you haven't tested it, I recommend using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to see if there is power on that pin/wire. If you don't have power it is probably an issue with a fuse. Try checking the owner's manual for the fuse location and add or replace the fuse if necessary. If you are unable to get this to work it is possible there is a different issue...

  • Auxiliary Power Cord for an Electric Trailer Jack
The Auxiliary Power Cord # LC79VR is the only 7-way cord with the 2 wire (red wire/black wire) set-up that we have. We have other 7-way connectors like the # H20044, but they have all 7 wires for connecting a trailer. For the 2 wire set-up on a jack the # LC79VR is the only option that we have. You would just need to cut off the connector on the opposite end of the 7-way plug and connect it to your jacks wires using butt connectors like the Deka Butt Connector - 12-10 Gauge # DW05745-1.

  • Parts Needed To Install a Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma
The Curt Echo # C51180 will require you to have the charge line circuit of your 7-way connected to power the Echo. We have actually designed a 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L that is specifically designed for the Echo so that you will not need the wiring for a brake controller mounted in your cab. Since you already have a 7-way you will only need some 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 (which we do sell by foot), a 30amp Circuit Breaker # 7012A and the Connectors # DW05745-1, # DW05740-1, # DW05741-1...

This will then tie into a Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 before going to the brakes themselves. You will need 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1(sold by the foot) to run to the trailer brakes(see diagram). Connectors # DW05745-1 and Ring Terminals # 44-5310A are needed to terminate the brake wires at the drums. I have linked our article...

  • Brake Controller Recommendation for 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I see that you'd looked at both the Redac # RED24FR Tow-Pro Liberty as well as the Tekonsha # TK90160 Primus. Either controller would work well, to answer the question of which would be the best controller for you will depend on how familiar you are with brake controllers, your budget and whether you'd be satisfied with a traditionally mounted brake controller that would bolt to the underside of the dash like the Primus or whether you'd prefer a remotely mounted controller like the Tow-Pro...
