Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 05731-5 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the five pack of 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors. These vinyl insulated blue butt connectors have a wire range of 16 to 14 gauge. The wire gauge, you can see it fits, is actually stamped on here. They do use chamfered barrel ends in the inside to allow fast and easy wire insertion from both ends. The very middle has a built in wire stop for accurate positioning of the wires and these must be crimped at the ends for a good insulated connection, and this part comes as a quantity of five. But, that should do it for the review on the five pack of the 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors..

Parts were shipped in reasonable time and look good.

I ordered a Ventline Vanair RV vent fan. It arrived on time and in good shape. I believe I paid a fair price for this item. I have not yet installed the fan, but have no reason to suspect it will not be the exact replacement for the defective one in my Airstream. I also purchased the butt connectors to hook up the fan during installation.

I installed the fan and it works fine.

Not water tight silicone butt connectors wouldn't use these

While we dont have butt connectors designed to be water tight, we do have heat-shrink butt connectors like part # DW05744-5 as well as primary wire heat shrink tubing # DW05451. The heat shrink design is intended to help keep as much water as possible out of the wiring connection.

Wanted to upgrade my trailer to LED tail lights during an overhaul an new flooring. After stopping at 4 auto supply stores that carried the brand I wanted but only stocked the most expensive ones the company offered, I went to etrailer an stopped wasting my time.
Exactly what I wanted. Priced honestly, and delivered quickly.
Won't waste the time & gas next time. Just come back to etrailer an be completely satisfied.

Used to wire a Tekonsha Primus brake controller to a 2009 Porsche Cayenne S. Worked perfectly.

by:

What can I say? they work and are inexpensive. I had to find something to add to my order to get from 149.90 to go over the 150.00 to get free shipping, and if you own a trailer, it's always a good idea to have these in your toolbox!

by:

  • What Parts Needed to Connect Trailer with Round 5 Pin Male Connector to a Vehicle with a Flat 4 Pole
If your trailer has stop and turn functions on separate lights (separate amber lights for the turns) you will need a vehicle-to-vehicle taillight converter harness for your Subaru that can separate the stop and turn functions. These functions are combined on a 4-pole flat connector. If this is the case you will need to fabricate your own custom harness from several components we can supply. First you will need a trailer-side 4-pole flat connector to mate with the Subaru 4-pole. You can...

  • Adding 4-Pole Connector to Existing Trailer Wiring
A wire's color is not a reliable way to know the function it carries so to hook up an additional 4-pole to your existing towing setup you'll just want a circuit tester to allow you to confirm what each wire does. I recommend kit # 18252 which includes both a probe tester and a 6-foot vehicle-side 4-pole that will connect to the mating trailer-side 4-pole connector. You'll apply the tester to the various wires while a lighting function is activated and after you go through the functions...

I've attached a simple video to assist with this installation which you will be able to do. I've also attached an article with pictures to help. You will simply use butt connectors # 05731-5.

  • How to Rewire an Old Cattle Trailer
It sounds like you are on the right track to rewire your cattle trailer. You are correct about the wire colors on the 7-way connector that you purchased. The colors that you see on the 7-way connector are typical for RV style trailers rather than utility, cargo, or livestock style trailers. The black wire should be connected to the terminal in the 7-way connector labeled black. This is the terminal in the 11 oclock position when you are looking at the back of the trailer connector (see...

  • Recommended Wiring for Clearance Lights on Homemade 16 Foot Car Hauler Trailer
Depending on the size of your trailer there are some requirements for lighting. I've attached an article to assist. When wiring a trailer, I do like the option of including a junction box. I personally really like the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141. This will allow you to use ring terminals # 44-5310A to make your connections. For clearance lights, you want to splice into the running light circuit (normally the brown wire) on your trailer....

  • Is Junction Box Recommended When Installing New Trailer Wiring 7-Way
Using a junction box makes installing new 7-way wiring much easier. Often times, people will run the wires from a 7-way such as yours to a junction box like part # 38656. From there, they will run the standard wire colors to the trailer lights, brakes and battery. I have attached a photo that shows how this setup works in the junction box. Most molded 7-way pigtails will come wired with the RV style color code. If you ever need to replace your 7-way connector in the future, you could simply...

  • Is There a Trailer Side 4-Round to 4-Flat Adapter
So I know the wiring harness you're describing, the 4-round, and there isn't an adapter to get it to go to a 4-flat. That's okay though because there is a really simple solution. What you can do is just cut off your round 4-way and add a standard, trailer side 4-flat, part # W787264. All you'd need to do is connect the wires with butt connectors # 05731-5. I've added links below to a couple help articles for you to check out as well on wiring which may be useful.
