How to Install 3-Wire Optronics Oval LED Trailer Turn Signal and Parking Light STL78AB
Question:
My RV uses two wires for front side turn signal/parking light. When parking light is on and turn signal activated the light flashes on and off. When parking lights are off and turn signal activated light flashes. OEM replacement is not an option as no longer available for 2015 class A RV BRAVE by Winnebago. I want to use the Optronics STL78AB with ALEDRST1B however I do not know how to wire the three wire pig tail from light with load resistor to two wire system in RV. Is there a way to convert a two wire turn/running incandescent to work with three wire LED? Thank you Kind Regards

Expert Reply:
The Optronics Oval LED Trailer Turn Signal and Parking Light # STL78AB uses a separate white ground wire along with the two power input wires, black for parking and red for turn.
Odds are your original incandescent lights used their mounting hardware to establish the ground so you'll want to find a suitable bare metal surface to make that connection using a ring terminal like # DW05737-1 (order two). You will also want to apply dielectric grease like # 11755 to that grounding point to protect the connection from corrosion.
You can use butt connectors like # 05731-5 to make the other wiring connection to the Optronics Load Resistor # ALEDRST1B.
