Video Transcript for Buyers Products Wheel Chock Review

Randy: Hey guys, Randy again here at etrailer. Today we're taking a look at a wheel chock from Buyers. Now there's a few advantages about this wheel chock, I really appreciate one being that it's small and compact, the other being that it's nice and heavy duty. This isn't like some of those cheap, plastic wheel chocks that we see we just assume when it gets cold we're gonna crack 'em. As you can see for it's compact size, it's really got some heft to it. Nice, thick rubber all the way around.

It's very dense, it's got a little give to it, but not much at all. It's really nice, sturdy thing and you can see how compact it is. Looking at six inches this way, five inches this way and five inches this way. So this isn't like some of those big, obnoxious wheel chocks that we see that we're constantly tripping over or trying to move out of the way. This is gonna be nice small, compact and it's got the grooves there, you can see to prevent slipping on our tire. With that compact size, it really fits nicely under there so if that tire we're to roll forward, it's gonna be pushing down on it, holding it in place.

Here's a good idea in the size difference that you see from other wheel chocks that are out there. We use this one around the shop here a lot. It has its advantages, it's nice and large, you're not gonna lose it, but one thing I like it's got a little loop here. We can actually grab that, use that to pull it out or tie a rope to it .. we don't wanna get a hold of the metal.

That's not something you're gonna see with this wheel chock, just doesn't have that eyelet in there and available, but I think with its more compact size it's something that we can grab with just one hand where this one can be a little more of a two-hand kind of job if we didn't have that on there.I also like the option for storage with this, it's a lot smaller than what we have outta here. This could be something we could throw in tool boxes or set up on a shelf or in a basket where this one would kinda be pushing that with the size it's gonna require.

I liked them. Apparently someone else liked them also and stole them from a storage bin I forgot to lock. There were tools and other items in that storage bin but they only wanted the wheel chocks. Will purchase them again someday.

by:

I purchased these to supplement the Andersen Leveler/Wheel Chocks (AM3604). I purchased a complete Andersen kit with two levelers, one jack, one step plate, 4 stabilizer pads and two extra chocks. While all of the Andersen pieces work well and the Andersen chocks work well when used with the Andersen levelers, the chocks do not work well by themselves. You can see in the picture how the curve of the Andersen chock does not fit the curve of the wheel and this allows too much movement in the wheel. These rubber chocks were just the fix I needed. They fit the wheel much better and tighter, removing the rocking play that I had. They also fit in the same bag with all of the other Andersen pieces so everything can still be kept together.

I use the them for my camper. Easy to use and do a good job.

by:

Great solid rubber wheel chock.

by:

Nice heavy duty wheel chock. I ordered two of these for my boat trailer which is about 5000 lbs total weight. This chock is the perfect size for the tires on the trailer which are ST 205 75R14.

by:

Sadly, we bought these and our trailer and COVID hit, so these are doing a great job of keeping the unit stable in storage!

by:

Excellent product - great price!

by:

Arrived quickly. Good, solid rubber chocks. Very pleasantly surprised. etrailer is my go to for our boat/trailer needs.

by:

Was looking for something other than the $xx.xx plastic check but didnt want to spend $xx.xx+ either. These are perfect, not too expensive, not too bulky, fit perfect with the contour of the wheel. Pretty good deal. Definitely recommend.

  • Bottle Jack and Safety Stands for Use During Trailer Maintenance
A bottle jack like the Powerbuilt # ALL620471 is the right type of jack to use for changing and rotating tires and other trailer maintenance work. But using wood blocks will reduce the stability of the jack and affect the safety of that process. Any trailer work is best done with wheels chocked on both sides. We offer rubber wheel chock products like # 337WC1467A to steady the trailer while you work on it. If you like the Powerbuilt jack for its size you can use it along with wood blocks...

  • Trailer Jacks for Stabilizing and Lifting 5th Wheel Trailer
When you need to remove a hub from your 5th wheel trailer to do wheel bearing inspection and re-packing you'll want to use a jack that lifts the trailer at the I-beam at the side of the frame. Scissor jack stabilizers like # UF48-979002 are not meant for lifting so much as for supporting a portion of the trailer's weight. You certainly CAN use a scissor jack to stabilize the trailer at camp. A safer way to remove your wheel and hub is the Andersen Rapid Jack # AM3620 or the Blaylock #...

  • Can I use the Curt Echo Brake Controller as an Emergency Brake
Since a brake controller reacts to either the brake pedal of the tow vehicle being depressed or the internal mechanisms within the controller reacting to a change in inertia while traveling, they cannot truly be used as a parking brake. Additionally, not all trailer brakes have an emergency brake system on them, and those that do usually require a small modification. Brakes like the # K23-086-00 and # K23-087-00 both have manual parking brakes. These brakes utilize the 12V power from your...

  • Using Rack Em Wheel Lock on Trailer that is Parked on Incline
I recommend using the Rack'em Lock'em Magnum Wheel Lock # RA-25 with a wheel chock since you said you will be parking on an incline. Check out the Buyers Products # 337WC1467A. The lock will act as a theft deterrent and the chock will prevent the trailer from rolling away. The # RA-25 wasn't designed to stop the movement of a heavy trailer on a hill.

  • Wheel Chock Recommendation for Disconnected Trailer on Hill
Utilizing wheel chocks like the Anderson Tuff Chock # 3605 wouldn't be ideal for the angle you are stating. Of course the weight of the boat is likely not distributed evenly over the axle, there are some chocks I believe would work for the situation you stated. I recommend using the etrailer Wheel Chocks - Polyurethane - Qty 2 # 288-02011-2 which have a little more grip on the bottom of the chocks and have a little more give to ensure they won't slide down the hill. Another great option...

  • Can HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes be Used For Extended Time
That's an interesting question, and while there is not an exact, specific amount of time the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16 can be used, you shouldn't use it for an extended period of length, such as the 10 minutes you referenced. It's only meant to be used to supplement your braking as you are driving, so using it in the manner of a parking brake, so to speak, is not something that should be done. While you won't end up in the lake, the # HBA16 will...

  • Stabilizing a Trailer Side to Side and Front to Back
Ultra-Fab Chock and Lock Wheel Stabilizers # UF21-001070 fits a wheel spacing of 1-1/2 inches to 5-1/4 inches, but not 1-3/8 inches. I recommend using a couple of traditional chocks such as # 337WC1467A. You could put one at the front of the front tire and one at the back of the back tire, or have them both between the tires to prevent tire movement. To help further stabilize the trailer I recommend using stabilizer jack set # UF48-979004. Each one of the jacks has a 6,000 pound capacity...

  • Are Rubber Wheel Chocks Better Than Plastic for Trailers
Yes, rubber wheel chocks such as the Buyers Products 5" Wheel Chock part # 337WC1467A tend to have a better grip on asphalt and pavement when compared to plastic which can have a tendency to slide. I personally prefer rubber wheel chocks to plastic because they are more durable but I will say plastic is lighter and weight is a factor for trailers when you start to add things up. The Buyers Products 5" Wheel Chock weighs about 3 lbs.

  • Recommended Trailer Tongue Jack Extender For Pop Up Camper
I have not seen any additional add on parts for the Fastway Flip Automatic Fold-Up Jack Foot # FA88-00-4500 that will do what you are looking for. And it can be used on a pop up that is using a 2-1/4" tongue jack. I recommend the Roadmaster Quick Foot Assembly Tongue Jack Extender # RO84FR as it uses a pin that will lock it in place on your pop up trailer. And since it is height adjustable to 2", 4" and 6" it will adapt to unlevel ground much better. You should always be sure to use...

  • Wheel Chocks to Secure Trailer while Loading Heavy Equipment
There is no brake controller with a parking brake function. Your best bet is to find a buddy to step on the brake pedal for you when loading equipment. You should also chock the wheels with wheel chocks like MaxxTow # 337WC1467A. This MaxxTow solid rubber wheel chock, weighs about 8-lbs so it will definitely tend to stay put better than a lighter plastic type. It also includes an eye bolt to which you can tie a rope for easier handling.

  • Benefits of Natural Rubber Wheel Chock MT70073 Over Plastic Types
A wheel chock made of natural rubber such as Buyers Products # 337WC1467A will certainly have an odor when it is brand new, and also for some period of time after use. Plastic chocks like # 288-02011 tend not to have this issue. You may have noticed that a new vehicle or a vehicle with new tires will tell your nose it is there when you enter the garage, for instance. Over time this odor fades. But on the other hand, a natural rubber wheel chock cannot crack or chip, will better resist...

  • Can a Trailer be Parked on a Driveway with an Incline
Since your driveway is on an incline the trailer will have to have the wheels chocked so it can't roll. Or it will have to be coupled to a tow vehicle while it is parked. It is hard to beat a good rubber chock such as # 337WC1467A sold in quantities of 1.

  • Trailer Suspension Lift Kit for 2017 Airstream Sport 22 Single Axle Travel Trailer
A bolt-on axle over-under kit like # K71-384-00 and # K71-385-00 will typically give your trailer between 4 and 5-inches of lift. The exact amount of lift depends on the axle diameter and the height of the leaf spring stack. Lift will be the sum of the axle diameter plus the height of the spring stack. Kit # K71-385-00 works for axles with 3-inch diameter Installing an axle over-under lift kit on a trailer is not a complex job but it does require the right safety equipment to avoid risk...

One of the most popular wheel chocks we offer with our customers is the Wheel Chock part # 337WC1467A. This chock has way more positive reviews than the other chocks and is at a great price so I would recommend it for you. Two of these would work great. One in front of a wheel and one behind either the same wheel or a different one. These should work in nearly all conditions just as well as any other chock. • How to Safely Uncouple a Trailer on an Incline
Whenever a tow vehicle and trailer are on an incline there will be pressure applied to the hitch ball and coupler. This will make it difficult to uncouple the trailer from the hitch ball. A trailer jack and/or hitch ball lubricant such as # 58117 can sometimes help. The tow vehicle and trailer should always be on a level surface when coupling or uncoupling, and wheel chocks should always be used to ensure the safety of those around the trailer and the trailer itself. You would have to use a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter such as the Ranch hitch # AM3100. All of these adapters couple to a 2-5/16 inch ball but for use with a dolly and not actually towing the trailer it is possible that a 2 inch ball could be used. But I would advise using a 2-5/16 inch ball if you are able to use one with your dolly. Dollies like what you are describing usually do not have the capacity for heavy 5th wheel trailers. • Will Replacing Jack Foot Plate With Caster Wheel Reduce Jack Weight Capacity or Trailer Capacity?
You can replace your trailer's jack foot plate with a trailer caster wheel. Your tongue weight capacity will be the lowest of three numbers, 1.) the new caster wheel capacity, 2.) the old tongue jack capacity, or 3.)the trailers stated TONGUE weight capacity. For example, the etrailer # JC-101 caster has a stated capacity of 1200 pounds. This is for the wheel and caster assembly only. Even if your old trailer jack is rated for 2000 pounds, adding this caster reduces your capacity to 1200...
