  • Dual support arms
    • Provide stability for bikes

Specs:

  • Weight capacity (per bike): 35 lbs

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Thule Passage Fit Dial system

The Thule Passage offers an affordable, safe way to transport three bikes without a hitch. The Passage mounts to the rear of your Hyundai Elantra with six integrated straps and Thule's patented Fit Dial system, which adjusts the rack base to ensure a snug fit.

The Passage includes cushioned anti-sway cradles with Thule's No-Sway Cage accessories to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. The anti-sway cradles also keep your bikes from making contact with the Hyundai Elantra.

The carrier's dual support arms provide stability for your bikes during transit, and the arms conveniently fold down when not in use for additional rear clearance and easy storage.

Ford Edge

Fits perfectly on our Lexus CT200h. Only on the old LS400, the side straps have to be fastened to the wheel arch edge, since the upper trunklid gap is to narrow for inserting the strap hooks. Mounting of two bikes is (with some routine) quickly done, and they stay safe even for longer and faster routes. For transporting three (mountain) bikes, though, the design doesn't seem big and robust enough. Nevertheless, the price-benefit-fun ratios are way better than reasonable.

2010 Chevrolet HHR

The side / bottom straps are seriously lacking. It has those straps you would find on a backpack, making it difficult to securely tighten down because of the angle. I'd usually have to pre-tighten them to a certain length, then forcefully shove the whole rack until it clipped onto my car. They really just need to be ratchet straps. Even then, one of the side straps came off while driving after hitting a small pothole and the whole thing dangled to one side - Luckily I was in a parking lot. I've also never been able to fit 3 regular bikes, only 2. It's really only a capacity of 3 if you have 2-3 slim bikes. The rubber is so wide that it makes it nearly impossible to slide certain bikes on. If you have a step thru bike with one of those crossbar adapters, I wouldn't even bother with trying this. Unfortunately I don't use this anymore since I'd be constantly worrying the whole thing will come off whenever I drive.

A year in - mounts to a 2015 Subaru Forester, we carry three bikes now that my youngest has upgraded to a big boy model, and were still going strong. No regrets on this purchase, just a lot of joy building great memories! As a single parent, I especially love how easy it is to mount, attachdetach our rides, and store when not in use.

by:

The carrier is everything I would have expected. Excellent craftmanship and design.

2015 Subaru Forester

Easy to assemble and attach to my 2015 Subaru Forester. I have been very pleased with the purchase. The bikes are fairly easy to load, although I have only had two bikes on at once (adult and teen-sized mountain bikes). Rack is secure when attached to car, as are the bikes to the rack. Longest car trip has been 3.5 hrs...no problems.

The bike rack is working out well most of our trips are fairly local within two hours, and the rack has performed very well. It was easy to figure out which model I needed at the e-trailer website and the delivery was prompt and I have had no problems.

by:

My family and I use this bike rack almost year round. The bike rack is sturdy and keeps the bikes from swaying. I am usually nervous whenever I haul anything but I feel confident that everything is secure. I think my favorite aspect of this bike rack is that I can switch it between the cars in our home without issue.

One year and still loving it!! This bike rack is still as sturdy and secure as it was on the day we got it. I saw complaints about it being too big for women’s bikes but we don’t have any problem with ours. I’ll place my son’s 16” bike on the rack closest to the car and put the larger bikes on the outside. After that, we’re on our way!

2017 Nissan Altima

I like the versatility of this product. It works on our 2013 Town & Country and 2017 Nissan Altima. Just have 1 issue, the rubber tie straps are too difficult. I even have an occasional tough time depending onvthe angle. It is important to make sure to put the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle! We left for vacation and didn't want to take an expensive bike, so we purchased a bike on our way. Not wanting to waste any time, i put it on the outside. within 2 hrs I noticed something didn't seem right. The bracket looked like it broke and the new bike was just inches off the expressway!!!! I was not in a good part of town so i used bungees to secure it. Did it correctly on the way home and it did fine. The hole is a little wore out that it clicks in to place! Over all very good deal!

I think the Thule Passage 3 bike carrier is the boss! It is strong, it is sturdy, and it seems likely to last a decade with ease. I expect to get my money's worth out of it (if my knees will hold out from so much biking).

If the mount cost $50 less I would have gladly given it 5 stars. As it is, the premium quality of the carrier is equal to the premium price, so the term "bargain" isn't exactly applicable. But the expression "Worth it" is most certainly appropriate.

2010 Dodge Journey

Works really well. Needed another person to make sure the straps would stay while getting the rack situated. Very stable and I am able to get three adult bikes on; a tight squeeze, but doable. Straight forward setup and easy to store.

by:
2011 Buick Enclave

The bike rack was easy to put together and attached it to my car, however, it would have been nice to include in the description or suggest that another part is needed for women's bikes. These bike racks are designed for men's bikes not women's. I did not know this until it was too late trying to attach 3 women's bikes on the day of vacation. It was impossible without the needed part- Thule bike adapter bar for women's and alternative bikes which is [$] for one and I would have needed 3. I had 3 very disappointed teenagers. Plus, I'm not happy that I would need to spend another [3 x $] just to make the bike rack workable for women's bikes.

Great product, high quality, fits our Outback perfectly. Bike fits the rack great. Painless ordering with etrailer and prompt delivery. Only concern was that the shipper banged up the box pretty hard, but the bike rack was not damaged.

The rack is working out great. Weve used it to haul bikes cross-country highway driving and it is very stable and secure. Easier to fit two bikes on it versus three, but we have used it for three bikes with no real issues.

by:

Found the perfect rack for my car. Rack holds securely and does not rub against the car/bikes securely away from vehicle itself.

Recommend highly. I searched other sites and etrailer was extremely competitive plus told me the best rack for my vehicle.

Cheri A.

8/29/2016

Excellent! Pretty easy to put on and take off, doesnt slip around and the bikes stay put. Highly recommend.

by:

This carrier fit my car perfectly. It's quite stable even at highway speeds and fits my 2 bikes well. The only problem is the difficulty in getting the bike frame over/around the mounting brackets to the back position. Even rotating the middle brackets down didn't help a lot because it just hits the bottom of the frame instead of the top bar. Still, it gets my bikes where I want to go.

2012 Toyota Camry

The rack arrived yesterday and my husband put it together and we attached it to the back of our 2012 Camry without any difficulty. We put one bike on it but I need to get an adapter bar connected to mine before I can try putting mine on. The directions were fairly easy and it seems like it will work out fine, tho we haven't actually used it yet

2014 Dodge Durango

Bike rack is a great rack and sturdy.

Only
issue for me was attaching it to the back of a 2014 Dodge Durango. Wouldn't sit right and ended up putting two small dimples in the hatch. Tried everything but nothing helped.

I would definitely buy the rack again, I'll just be more careful in checking how it sits on vehicle.

According to the instructions, the fit dial should be set to 11, please check to ensure thats where your dial is set. Youll also want to be aware that the rear liftgate should NOT be opened or closed with the rack in place.

by:
2012 Buick Enclave

I have a Buick Enclave 2012.
The place
that you have to put the upper straps on this bike rack is made of plastic on this vehicle. There is NO WAY I would attach this and expect it to hold without warping or damaging the car.

Thank you for purchasing this Thule product. I can understand you apprehension about mounting this carrier to your vehicle. Thule performs extensive testing on all of the vehicles we fit and we are confident, that if the fitting instructions are followed properly, that this carrier will work well with your vehicle. Thank you!

2003 Chevrolet Impala

Does support heavy(electric bikes), but not convienent to use. The major problem is feeding the straps through the tire support and frame, the strap does not stay straight in our Florida weather and you will not be able to get all six without a problem and excess time in the heat. I now tape the end to a coffee stirrer to pull it through the narrow slot, it works but is an extra time consuming step. It is almost impossible for an average person to use alone. Does the job, I've since seen more consumer friendly racks.

by:

I had no trouble installing the bike rack; I give it such a poor rating because it did not perform its essential task: remaining in position to keep the bicycles in place. Specifically, the bike arm did not lock into the carrier sufficiently for a road trip. That is, on one of the arms, the button did not remain engaged in the hub to keep the bike arm stationary (picture of faulty hub with "engaged" button). I think this was a function of the hub and not the button because after a the bicycle first dragged on the highway, we removed all the bikes and switched the bike arms. Nevertheless, the same hub did not keep the button engaged and the arm gradually slipped toward the ground (we relied on rope and bungee cords to complete the trip). Two other complaints (1) women's bikes are not so "unconventional"; the need for an adapter should be more prominently advertised, and (2) getting the third bicycle on the rack is next to impossible--there should be a video showing how this can be achieved.

Since my son is primary user of the bike rack I asked for his thoughts review. Here’s what he said: After owning for a year, the product remains to work as intended. etrailer was the best place to search for carrier options and led me to the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount - TH911XT, which was just what I was looking for. etrailer pointed me to the right product at the right price and had the customer support options I needed. I highly recommend

GMC Terrain

I purchased this rack a year ago and have used it on several trips. The longest was 4 hours through some unpaved terrain and the rack was great! Because it's not attached like a hitch or roof rack, expect to adjust the straps every 1-2 stops. Nothing major, the side straps seem to slide a bit during travel. The guys a etrailer are absolutely exceptional. Very fast with communication and focused on great service.

by:

After using this bike carrier for several months, it proved to be not sturdy enough for the two bikes we have even though it is a three bike carrier. I decided to purchase a trailer hitch and purchase a trailer hitch bike carrier. The hitch and carrier work much better to my satisfaction.

  • Draw-Tite Hitch and Rola TX-103 Bike Rack Recommendation for a Honda CRV 2012
I checked with Thule and the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier # TH911XT will not work on your 2012 Honda CRV. The reason Thule gives is because the lower straps can not be mounted in a safe place. The best option you have at this point for transporting bikes would be to use a hitch mounted bike rack. If you do not have a hitch on your vehicle already you will need one. For that I recommend you get a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75742. I attached installation instructions for this hitch for you...
