Will the Thule Passage 3 Bike Rack # TH911XT Fit a 2008 Lexus RX350
Question:
I do not have a hitch, but there is a partial shade on the rear hatch. Will the carrier for 3 bikes fit, or can you suggest an alternate carrier. Thank you

As long as there is an open space at the top of that rear spoiler for the mounting strap to pass through and attach to the edge of the rear hatch, the rack is capable of being installed on the vehicle. (Rather than the straps passing up and over the spoiler).
This being said, Thule states that the hatch on the RX350 is not strong enough to accommodate the weight of the carrier plus three bikes, although using the two bike model, # TH910XT is acceptable.
To carry three bikes, a hitch mounted rack would be your best option. The Curt Class III receiver, part # 13530 would be an excellent choice for you. The Swagman Trailhead is available in a three bike version, # S63365 or a four bike, # S63380. The Trailhead is an inexpensive rack that incorporates features usually found on more expensive racks, like an anti-rattle hitch pin and an integrated cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack.
For womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # TH982XT is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike is not carried at an angle.
The receiver would come in handy if you should ever need to tow a small trailer in the future, and would also provide a mounting point for other hitch mounted accessories like a cargo carrier.
I have linked to product demonstration videos for the Thule Passage and the Swagman Trailhead, as well as an install video showing the hitch I recommended being installed on a 2007 Lexus RX350.
I have also provided links to the instructions for the hitch and the bike racks.
