Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Traverse

Question:

I am looking at the # TH911XT for my 2014 Chevy traverse. My concern is that the top hooks would hook into a plastic trim piece at the top of the lift-gate and not onto actual metal. Is this a concern with this piece cracking or breaking off under the load of three bikes and road jarring? The attached image chose the parts breakdown for the Traverse, the hooks would go over part #2 but from looking at a friends rack I do not believe the hooks will contact the actual metal of the lift-gate. Thoughts?

For you 2014 Chevy Traverse I have a better recommendation I can make for a trunk rack. The Hollywood Racks Over The Top part # HRF2-3 would be a great option that is confirmed as a fit for your vehicle and is designed to fit over spoilers and not interfere with them. I attached a review video for this rack on a similar Traverse as yours as well.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
