Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

With a fan-mounted heat exchanger unit, you can be sure that there will always be optimum airflow for your engine oil cooler no matter where your cooler is mounted or what sort of environment you are traveling through. Couple that with the highly efficient, plate-fin core - wherein finned chambers provide increased surface area, allowing superior heat transfer with minimum pressure drop - and you have a truly effective heat-exchange system.

This system is ideal for late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions in which ensuring proper cooling and pressure maintenance is of the utmost importance.

The fan is nice, the brass compression barbed fittings did not work. They leaked from both threads. I paid for fancy with a quickness 2 day shipping, took 5 days. I’m just glad I wasn’t too much in a hurry to cool my dads transmission for his road trip.

Everything was included to install the cooler and instruction sheet is useful. Hardest issue is where to mount. No leaks so far. Should help trans temps while towing.

  • How to Determine Which is the Return Line on the Factory Transmission Cooler of 2006 Chevy Equinox
I can tell you an easy way to figure out which line is the return line and which is the feed line on the transmission cooler of your 2006 Chevy Equinox. When your car is cold go out and start it up and put it in drive for 10 seconds. Now put it back in park and shut it off. Go out and feel both coolant lines, the cooler of the two is the return line. The installers use this trick here all the time. I attached a couple FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out also.

  • Will a Derale Transmission Cooler Kit D13503 Work on a 2006 Nissan Titan Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503, will provide extra cooling to help keep your transmission at normal temperatures when towing. Whether or not any cooler will provide enough cooling depends on many factors specifically related to your vehicle and trailer setup. I did a bit of checking on the 2006 Nissan Titan towing capacities and found that the 2006 Titan is rated for somewhere between 9,200 lbs and 9,500 lbs Gross trailer weight, properly loaded...

  • BTU Rating of Detale D13950 Atomic-Cool Remote Mount Transmission Cooler
According to Derale, their # D13950 Atomic-Cool Remote Mount Transmission Cooler offers a 22,000 BTU/Hour Cooling Rating and would be a minimally adequate choice for a vehicle used on a drag strip, I'd recommend bumping up to a 46K unit such as the Derale Hyper-Cool # D15960. Drag racing is extremely hard on a transmission, it would make good sense to make the small investment to upgrade to the higher capacity cooler.

  • Will Adding a Transmission Cooler to 2008 Jeep Liberty Help Reduce Heat While Towing
Yes. Since your 2008 Jeep Liberty does not have the towing package that usually adds a transmission cooler to your setup, installing the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit # D13950 will help keep your transmission from overheating. Since this unit has a powered fan unit, you can mount it anywhere inside your engine compartment and not have to worry about getting enough air flow. I've linked the installation instructions for this cooler to this answer that you might want...

The transmission cooler I recommend for a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado for heavy towing is a remote mount option, the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13950. This cooler comes with everything that you need for installation and it will do an excellent job off cooling the vehicle's transmission fluid therefore helping to prolong life of the transmission and achieve better performance while towing with smoother shifts. In regards to size, it doesn't really hurt to go...

The # D13950 Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan can be used in your 1969 Camaro with 5.7L Engine. I reached out to Derale and they confirmed this. This cooler is designed to be mounted anywhere. According to the installation manual, the purpose is to be able to mount the cooler away from the front of the vehicle therefore not blocking airflow to the radiator/condenser. This cooler can be mounted anywhere space permits. Always keep in mind that the cooler still needs...

  • How to Select Best Transmission Cooler for 2012 Chevy Silverado
The best transmission cooler for your 2012 Chevy Silverado is going to be the largest one that fits. A unit with a fan will give your truck optimum cooling power, but you do need to measure to ensure that you have enough room for this type of cooler to fit because a unit with a fan will take up more room. For example, the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D15900 measures 15-3/4" wide x 11-1/2 " tall x 5" deep so you would need to find that amount of space under...

It is possible to install the transmission cooler like Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13502 to bypass the factory cooler on the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan however it is usually not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. If you decide to bypass the factory cooler, you would want to go with the largest aftermarket cooler possible that will fit to get efficient cooling. • Will the Derale Atomic-Cool Transmission Cooler Fit on a 2009 Silverado 1500 Z71 4WD
The ideal operating temperature for transmission fluid should remain between 160 and 200 degrees. If your transmission fluid was reaching 195 degrees when towing your fifth wheel trailer, it would be a good idea to either upgrade your factory added cooler or add an additional transmission cooler because this temperature could increase if you are towing on in hot weather or through hills where the engine and transmission will be working harder than on flat ground. • Best Transmission Cooler for Off-Roading in a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser in Year-Round Warm Climate
The Class rating applied to transmission coolers is to help simplify choosing a cooler for a vehicle. Basically you would think about it in terms of a hitch class rating. So for example if your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser has a Class III hitch then a transmission cooler shown as a Class III is a good match. But ultimately you can use any cooler that fits in the intended mounting location. Derale transmission cooler # D13503 is a very popular option. It is a Class III but if you want something...

I am not sure what, if any, benefit new cooler lines would offer. But the right transmission cooler will do the trick. If your 2009 Chevy Equinox has the 3.4 liter engine, we have several options. I recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12901. This has the simplest, tube fin design. It is fairly small so it should be easy to find the best mounting point. There are essentially three places to mount a transmission cooler. The best place is between the grille and AC condenser core....

Apart from that there are no specific spots this kit is meant to be mounted as it is a more universal application; it can be mounted anywhere else that you have space to fit its 12-3/4" wide x 9-3/8" tall x 4-5/16" deep dimensions. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Chevy Silverado Towing 6,000 lb Boat
A transmission cooler is a really great idea for your Dad's truck as the temperature range you mentioned is too hot to allow a transmission to survive very long. I'd recommend the Derale part # D13504 as it's a plate fin cooler which is one of the most efficient styles and is larger at 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep so it's going to do a really great job reducing the temperatures to a much safer range. • Will a Remote Transmission Cooler Fit a 2005 Ford F-250 with 5.4 Liter
The great thing about the Derale remote transmission cooler # D13950 is that you can mount it where ever you have space. Since it has its own fan it does not have to be placed out in front of the motor. This will allow you to position it in the place with the most room and that does include areas outside of the engine compartment! Both the Derale transmission coolers you mentioned would work great installed on your 2010 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8 liter V8. The part # D13960 is the more efficient style of cooler as it has a stacked plate whereas the # D13950 is a plate and fin cooler which is still really effective but not quite as effective as the stacked plate. • Recommended Remote Mounted Transmission Cooler for 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with Supercharged Engine
Rather than a passive cooler like the # D13225, in order to get effective supplemental cooling for your transmission you'll really need a remote mount cooler with a fan. The # D13225 cooler you'd looked at would get very little air flow if mounted on your frame rail, and given the fact that you've obviously made some pretty serious upgrades to your engine you'll want something that's more effective as a passive cooler would be nearly useless.
