One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

This oil cooler has really helped improve the oil pressure in my GEN III Hemi by reducing the oil temperate approximately 20 degrees cooler than before we installed it. Excellent product by Derale and service by etrailer.com.1400952

The cooler was easy to install, the instruction were easy to follow. I did check the oil temp after pulling a 4000 ft grade pulling a camp trailer with an electronic temp probe and there was a 50 deg temp drop thru the cooler. 669243

My original transmission cooler sprung a leak on my 1990 dodge pickup and a direct replacement couldn't be found. Etrailer had a cooler that would fit and do the job. Would highly recommend them to solve your problems and supply what's needed.161616

Since you mentioned it does not have the factory tow package, but that you do have a 4-way, I am going with the assumption that the 4-way was an aftermarket addition. To use a brake controller, you will need to adapt your current 4-way into a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 kit will provide you with everything that you need to adapt the 4-way into a functioning 7-way to use a brake controller.
The brake controller that I recommend... view full answer...
Transmission coolers should not impair the engine's ability to stay cool when operating. One point to note is that these coolers are much smaller than the radiator and allow plenty of air flow to pass both around and through to the engine.
For transmission coolers, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13611 is a fine choice. It's a radiator style design and the fluid is continually agitated to help dissipate heat. Include is a video review for more information. view full answer...
When choosing a transmission cooler, there are several factors that go into deciding the best one for your needs. This includes how much weight you will be towing with your 2010 Honda Accord, the terrain you will be driving on, the distance you will be towing, and the available location a cooler can be installed in order to keep the transmission fluid in the optimum temperature range (160 to 200 degrees F).
A class I cooler like # D12901 or # D13611 that you have referenced would be a... view full answer...
I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13502, for your 1997 Honda CRV. This cooler will be more than adequate for towing the weights you will be towing. You can not cool transmission fluid too much so the larger the cooler is, the better. We have a video installation of this cooler on a 2006 Honda CR-V that will be very similar to the installation on your 1997 model, see link.
If you would like a smaller cooler you could go with the Derale Series... view full answer...
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, however to optimize efficiency you would want to use the largest transmission cooler available, and mount in the optimal place on your vehicle. The most efficient mounting position is considered to be between the grille and the AC condenser core.
Considering the space that is available for you to mount a transmission cooler is most likely limited on your 2006 Pontiac Vibe I recommend either the Derale 9000 Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler... view full answer...
When installing a transmission cooler the best solution is to install the supplemental cooler after the factory cooler so that you get the cooling power of both coolers. That is what I would recommend when installing an a cooler on your 2003 Ford Escape. view full answer...
It sounds like you are using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37140ET with your 2014 Tundra. Whatever weight you have in the back of your truck will throw off the effectiveness of the weight distribution system. You should check the tag on the inside of your door to see what your trucks maximum capacity is and go off of that for how much payload you can carry. If your truck is level with your trailer then the weight distribution system is set up... view full answer...
The best way to pick out the best transmission cooler is to measure the area in front of your radiator to see what size cooler would fit and pick the biggest size available.
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13611 is a pretty small cooler, but if you have limited space it would help and it does come with an installation kit.
If you can fit it I would go with a larger one like the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503. Check out the install video I attached for... view full answer...
I typically recommend choosing the largest transmission cooler that will fit into the available space. The best place to install a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser.
Choosing the largest available cooler like part # D13503 is a good choice, because you cannot over-cool a transmission. The cooler measures 8 by 11 inches, and is 7/8 of an inch thick.
The cooler installs inline with the transmission return line that runs from the... view full answer...
There are several coolers recommended for your 1990 Dodge Caravan. I have incldued a link to them for you. The type of coolant the vehicle uses is not a factor. Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific and are flow through devices with no moving parts so the type of fluid and the vehicle are not issues.
We recommend installing the largest cooler that will fit in the vehicle. This is because transmission fluid cannot be over cooled and because a larger cooler will be more efficient.... view full answer...
If you're not planning on towing frequently at or near its 4500 lb capacity or in mountainous areas, the Derale # D13611 you'd looked at would be an excellent choice. The cooler is a plate fit design, which offers extremely high efficiency in a small package that won't take up much room on the front of your radiator. If you'll be pushing the vehicle harder by towing more frequently and planning on running up and down hills, a larger cooler like # D13502 would be a better choice. Unless... view full answer...
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 1999 Honda Accord with the 2.3L engine is the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13503. This is a Class lll plate-fin cooler that will prolong the life of your transmission and help improve overall performance. This system comes with the hose, stainless steel clamps and radiator adapter.
If space is limited on your Accord, you can take a look at one of the shorter coolers like part 3 D13611.
I have attached some helpful articles that explains... view full answer...
Installing a transmission cooler is not very difficult and I have every confidence that you will be able to install the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13611, on your 2007 Chrysler Town and Country. Make sure you have the necessary tools. Your mechanical skills should serve you well for this installation.
I can give you some installation tips. Transmission coolers are designed to be mounted flush against either the radiator or the AC condenser core. For maximum cooling ability, the heat... view full answer...
The best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to measure the amount of space you have in front of your radiator and pick out the largest cooler that would fit there.
If you have room for it I would recommend you go with a Derale Transmision Cooler part # D13502. This cooler measures 11 inches wide by 7-1/4 inches tall by 7/8 inches deep. You will also want the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13035 to make installation easier.
Check out the install video and FAQ article... view full answer...
You will want to install the cooler on the return line. You can identify which one is the return by starting out with the engine cold, starting it, shifting into gear for about 10-seconds and then back to park, then shutting the engine off. Feel the two lines; the cooler one is the return line.
Please note that when you add a cooler like Derale # D13611 (or a larger one) that is confirmed to fit your car you naturally also add a requirement for additional fluid. Toyota insists that only... view full answer...
The transmission coolers we offer are not OEM replacements. They are intended to supplement the existing OEM cooler for demanding applications like towing or for continuous use in very hot conditions. You might start by reviewing the attached article which provides plenty of useful information about transmission coolers in general. Coolers are NOT vehicle-specific; you can use as large a cooler as you have the space to install it.
If your Nissan OEM cooler is a combination radiator/transmission... view full answer...
You should not have to worry about that warning since it is uncommon. The transmission cooler # D13611 comes with an Insta-dapt fitting that you can use to avoid have to flare the steel or aluminum lines. The worst case scenario is that you would have to flare the metal lines, if applicable.
If the lines are aluminum you can flare them with a Phillips screwdriver. Steel lines would require a flare tool which your local auto parts store should have. But I do not think that will be necessary... view full answer...
With transmission coolers "size does matter..."
Basically the bigger the cooler you can fit in front of the radiator the better it's going to cool your fluid. Between the two you mentioned the part # D13503 would be the best option. It's size is 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep.
For your size vehicle this is the perfect size and would do a great job. view full answer...
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13611, will fit your 2005 Honda CR-V. It is a Class I transmission cooler which means it is designed to be used when towing up to 2,000 lbs. It will work when towing your 1,800 lb. camping trailer. It measures 11 inches wide x 3-7/8 inches tall x 1-1/4 inches deep.
I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13502. This is a Class II transmission cooler which is rated for towing up to 3,500... view full answer...
As long as the fins on the Derale Cooler # D15604 or # D13611 are facing out so they can get airflow then you can mount them vertically if you needed to. I have included a link to a video review of transmission cooler # D13611 for you and an FAQ on oil coolers for # D15604. view full answer...
I contacted Derale to verify that any transmission cooler will work on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee as long as it will fit where you want to install it. I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Item # D13611 as it is small enough to mount in many different locations but still provide you with the proper cooling for your transmission. I have also provided a link to the different size coolers for a Jeep Grand Cherokee so you can take a look and get a better idea... view full answer...
For a temperature gauge you could use to monitor the temperature of the transmission fluid in your 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan I would recommend the # D13009 for a mechanical gauge. This will require you to drill into the transmission pan to install the fitting and sending unit. I attached a picture that shows how it installs on a transmission fluid pan.
For a transmission cooler to help reduce the temperature of the tranny fluid you could use the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission... view full answer...
A transmission cooler is exactly what you need to keep the transmission fluid at an ideal temperature which is below 200 degrees. Ideally, you'll want to get the largest cooler that will fit into the available space. The best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the front grille, in front of the radiator and the a/c condenser. The Derale # D13504 would be ideal if you have enough room to accommodate its 11 inch wide by 12 inch tall size.
The cooler would tap into the return line... view full answer...
The reason you do not see any cooling capacity figures for a transmission cooler is because there are just too many variables at hand to give any sort of accurate estimates. These variables have to do with ambient temperature, mounting location, etc. That said, there is a way to compare the coolers and that is by their construction; tube-and-fin (least efficient), plate-and-fin (moderately efficient), stacked-plate (most effective).
