Stacked-plate heat exchangers have long been considered the most effective type of oil or transmission cooler, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. As a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube-and-fin, or even plate-and-fin, varieties.

Cooler was well built and fit my 2002 Silverado with some slight modifications to the existing bracing. It seems to cool well but I haven’t towed anything heavy yet in warmer temps to know how well it cools above the stock cooler.

I just received the Derale D13403 transmission oil cooler and the Firestone Ride-Rite air suspension system for my truck. I have not installed them yet but my experience with the ordering process was excellent. I placed my order on a Saturday afternoon and received confirmation of shipment later the same day. Everything was packaged very well and free delivery was quick. I have ordered from etrailer before and will continue to use them as my needs arise..

This transmission cooler is a true game changer. We are now able to climb steep grades without overheating the transmission. Installation was fairly straightforward, and it fit in the same location as the original cooler. We have traveled over 4500 miles since installation and are very happy with its performance.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2004 Chevy 2500HD
I recommend the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13403. This fits most vehicles with the 5/16" transmission lines, but I recommend adding the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035. This adapter allows you to easily connect the radiator to the transmission cooler. Please note the linked product review and installation videos below along with installation instructions.

  • Would Derale Transmission Cooler # D13403 Work Well on 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Yes the Derale transmission cooler part # D13403 would do an excellent job keeping the transmission fluid of your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 cool. This is the most efficient style of cooler and it's also larger so it would easily work really well for your truck.

  • Does A Supplemental Transmission Cooler Replace The Factory Transmission Cooler
When adding a supplemental transmission cooler like the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, -6 AN Inlets - Class V Item # D13403 it does not replace the factory cooler. It works in conjunction with your factory cooler and is designed to assist your factory cooler in the cooling process when towing.

The Class III Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13358 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 - 170 inch Wheelbase - with factory step bumper. It has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 5,000 lbs and a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 500 lbs. When you are using a Weight Distribution (WD) System, like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084, those capacities increase to 7,500 lbs GTW and 750 lbs TW. Since the hitch can handle 7,500 lbs when using a WD system you...

  • Can a Derale Transmission Cooler be Used with an Allison 2200MH Transmission on a Motorhome
On the Allison transmissions you would need to go to a larger hose and fittings to avoid any problems when using a transmission cooler such as # D13403. But what I recommend is to use core # D54012 which does have -12AN fittings already. The largest inner diameter hose we have is 1/2 inch such as # D15799 so if you do need larger hose it would need to be obtained locally.

  • Can a Transmission Cooler be Installed Vertically Instead of Horizontally
Yes, the core in Derale transmission cooler # D13403 can be mounted so that the lines enter and exit from the side rather than the top. There is enough pressure in the lines to push the fluid through no matter how you choose to mount it! I have linked the installation instructions for you.

  • Transmission Cooler for a 2009 Ford Expedition
Transmission coolers such as # D13503 are not vehicle specific so you can install or have one installed that fits the space you have available in the engine compartment. If it were me though I would go with a stacked plate cooler, # D13403, because they are the most efficient and offer the most cooling. With that said check to see if your transmission system is a closed system. If it is then there will be no dipstick to check the transmission fluid. Instead there will be a cap over the...

  • Best Transmission Cooler For 2019 Honda Odyssey
The most efficient transmission cooler option for your 2019 Honda Odyssey is the largest transmission cooler that you can get to fit in front of the radiator. The second best placement is between the AC condenser and the radiator that allows for moderate air flow. The efficiency of a transmission cooler is based mostly off it's size and placement. I recommend Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 that measures 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep. The stacked-plate...

The best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to measure the area in front of the radiator and pick out the largest cooler that will fit in that area. To maximize the space you have the best style of cooler to pick out would be a stacked plate cooler. These coolers are highly efficient and do not take up much space. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma
You definitely should get a supplemental transmission cooler as your fluid is getting hot enough while towing that cooling it down will help prolong the life of the transmission. Stacked plate coolers are the most efficient design so I would recommend you go with something like the part # D13403. This is a 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep cooler that would do an excellent job keeping your fluid temperature down. Bubbles don't just appear out of nowhere in transmission fluid so this cooler...

Since you are looking for a transmission cooler to replace what you have on your 2005 Acura MDX you would want to go with as large of a cooler as you can fit in the most efficient cooler style. Stacked plate coolers are by far the best efficient style. The part # D13403 would be a great option. It measures 13" Wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep and comes with an install kit. • Are The Derale Transmission Coolers Considered Low Pressure/LPD Coolers?
No, the Derale # D13403 is not considered a low pressure transmission cooler. All Derale Coolers are rated at 250 PSI and 300 PSI burst strength. The only Low pressure coolers I have heard of are the Tru-Cool brand and unfortunately we do not carry them here at etrailer.

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler be Bypassed on a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder
In order to avoid the engine coolant leaking into the transmission lines you would have to bypass the factory cooler, which is located in the radiator, on your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. • Bypassing Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2006 Ford F-250 with 5.4 Liter
If the chamber walls inside the radiator that separate the transmission cooling portion with the coolant portion have cracked, ruptured, or are otherwise leaking then you would have to either replace the radiator or plug up the transmission fluid inlet and outlet ports on the radiator and instead use a supplemental cooler as the main cooler. • Recommended Transmission Cooler for a 2006 Ford Expedition While Towing Through Mountains
For a heavy duty transmission cooler, I recommend the Derale Series 10000 Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 which as the name states has a stacked-plate design which is currently the most effective type in regards to a transmission cooler.
