Recommended Transmission Cooler for a 2006 Ford Expedition While Towing Through Mountains
Question:
I have a 2006 Ford Expedition and I will be towing a 6,000 lbs travel trailer on long highway trips and through mountains. I wanted to get a heavy duty transmission cooler.

For a heavy duty transmission cooler, I recommend the Derale Series 10000 Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 which as the name states has a stacked-plate design which is currently the most effective type in regards to a transmission cooler. This essentially means that you can install a cooler with less surface area and still receive greater cooling power like when compared to the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13504 for example.
If you were just traveling on flat-ground then you could get away with the 8000 Series but since you said you will be traveling though mountains you are really going to want to go with the 10000 Series.
