No issues at all.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

product from Pollak is always great but they packed it with steel couplers and destroyed it

2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

2016 Porsche Cayenne

It fit right up to my 2016 Porsche Cayenne diesel. A very simple installation.

by:

Still working after a year. Performs as expected. Easy to install.

by:

Easy to install and has worked every si nce

by:

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

1995 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:

Direct replacement for factory socket.

Quality unit. Easy installation. Replaced the oem perfectly.

  • Installing Third Brake Light and Dome Light into Truck Bed Cap
If you will take a look at the wiring harness up above the spare tire, you should find the connector that the 7-way plugs into. If you trace the loom back just a bit, you will find a light blue wire that is used for the 3rd brake light for your truck cap. If you will follow the provided link, see Step 3 figure B. This photo will show you the location of this wiring harness above the spare tire. For the interior dome light, there are two common methods both of which will require a switch,...

  • Converter Required to Wire in 4-Way to Vehicle with Combined Turn Signals Stoplights
Sounds like you are trying to hardwire a 4-way to the taillights of your 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic. Since your truck has the turn signals and stop lights on the same circuit you would need to use a converter like the part # RM-732 wired to the stop/turn circuits to separate out the stoplight circuit.

  • When Truck is Put in Reverse the Trailer Brakes Lock Up
Are you certain that you have the 6-way connector, like part # PK12720 with the 6 round pins? Or do you have the 7-way connector like part # PK11893 that features 6 blade-type pins with one connector in the center? The two can sometimes be confused. There are two possible reasons why the brakes are locking up on the trailer. If you have a surge or hydraulic coupler on the trailer, such as those typically found on boat trailers, the hydraulic brakes will lock up when the vehicle reverses...

To get a 7-Way connector at the rear of your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado I would use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and test the 7 bare wires for function. Then, use the Pollak 4 Foot Pigtail Wiring Harness, part # PK11998, to connect to the 7 bare wires by function using the included butt connectors. I would not connect them by colors because the colors will not always match the same function. After the wiring harness is attached correctly to your functioning bare wires on the vehicle...

If you wish to have flexibility to connect to trailers that use a 4-pole flat connector you can instead consider one of the 4- and 7-way connectors shown on the link provided. These plug in to the truck in the same way but provide two connector options. Several include a length of wiring, such as Curt # HM40975, which...

It is likely there is a ground connection issue with that right side tail light. Often that ground connection is made through the mounting hardware so you want to make sure you have a clean bare metal connection. • Brackets for Installing 7-way Trailer Connector on 2004 Chevy Silverado
To install a 7-way like part # PK11893 on that generation GM truck, we typically use a mounting bracket, part # C57202 that mounts to the crossbar of the hitch using a band clamp. Part # 18138 is used to connect the 7-way to the bracket. Many times folks are tempted just to screw the bracket directly into the crossbar of the hitch. Adding holes to or modifying the hitch in any way can weaken it structurally and will void its warranty. If there is a suitable mounting point under the bumper,...

I recommend installing a switch to turn the light on and off when needed, unless the light comes with a switch. Try testing again with the circuit tester with the hazard lights on to see if the circuit starts to blink. That would indicate that the problem is a relay or fuse. The best way to determine the function of any wire is to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test wire functions.
