Video Transcript for Review of Goal Zero Goal Zero Solar Panel Extension Cable - GZ42VR

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Goal Zero extension cable. This is a 30 foot long cable that is going to connect to your Goal Zero solar panel. On the one side, you can see we've got Anderson plugs on both ends. So the one side will plug directly into the Anderson plug coming off of your Goal Zero Boulder 200 or Nomad 200 solar panel.

And then on the other side you can plug that directly in to your Yeti 1500 or larger solar generator. Or if you have a smaller Yeti, a there is an adapter from the app to eight millimeter so that you can get that plugged into your Yeti and charge that up so you can enjoy your time outdoors. Now, this is a 12 gauge wire, so it's going to provide plenty of current flowing through it to charge up your Yeti. And having this, it's probably going to fall into that category of you might not always need it, but it is going to be really nice to have if you do need it. So if you get everything set up at your campsite on one side of your RV or camper and then all of a sudden realize the sun's on the other side, you can easily move your solar panels to that other side, keep your Yeti where it's at, everything that's connected to it all set up. And just have to move that solar panel.

This will give you 30 feet of room to maneuver and chase the sun to make sure that you're getting the most power. And because this is a Goal Zero product, it's a no-brainer, it's definitely going to work with your system. You're not going to have to worry about compatibility issues or anything like that. So I think it's going to be really nice to have for those moments when you are going to need it. And just being able to enjoy the shade more and allow your solar panel to be where the sun is. I think that'll be a huge benefit too.

So if you have a Goal Zero system, I'd say this is going to be a great addition for you just to give you a lot more convenience and peace of mind to be able to take that solar panel where it needs to go. That's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

  • How to Extend Distance Between Goal Zero Yeti Power Station and Solar Panel Kit
To extend the distance between your Goal Zero Yeti 1000X Lithium Portable Power Station # GZ44FR and the Boulder 200 Briefcase Solar Panel # 287-32409 we have 2 different cord lengths: - 15' # 287-98064 - 30' # GZ42VR Since it sounds like you're needing more flexibility with where you can place the solar panels I recommend going with the 30' length.

  • Recommendation for Portable Solar Panel to Augment Current Roof Top Zamp Solar Set-Up
Currently we do not offer Zamp solar panels but we do have Goal Zero which is also a top quality manufacturer. You state you are looking for a very long cord to connect to your Zamp Charge controller by way of a roof top connection. I assume this means that the solar panel you are looking for needs to be a portable panel to augment the current setup. I suggest the Goal Zero Boulder 200 Briefcase Solar Panel, # 287-32409 at 200 Watts along with the 30' Extension Cable for Goal Zero Boulder...

  • What Are The Gauges Of The 30' And 15' Goal Zero Cables
The information you received from Goal Zero is correct, though the explanation was lacking. I spoke with someone at Goal Zero and then I took a look at each of the items to verify what I was told. The 30' Cable for Goal Zero Boulder 200, Nomad 200, and Ranger 300 Solar Panels - HPP to HPP, part # GZ42VR, is technically a 14 AWG wire. According to Goal Zero, this wire has two 14 AWG wires in the cable going in each direction. When you compare this wire to the 15' Cable for Goal Zero Boulder...
