Video Transcript for Buyers Products Safety Chains and Cables - Safety Chains - 337B03835SC Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a Class IV trailer safely chain. The Class IV safety chain is rated to 10,000 lbs. the chain is made from carbon steel, and it's zinc plated to withstand rust and corrosion. This chain measures 35 inches long, and it features a forged slip-hook connection here on one end. Now, this has a spring-loaded safety latch mechanism to prevent accidental disconnecting. The chain is designed for towing only, so it's not designed for lifting.

The chain diameter is 3/8 of an inch, again, the chain length is 35 inches. When it comes to this slip-hook you definitely want to make sure it's going to fit your connection point, and so with the latch all the way open, the space right here measures about 1 1/8 of an inch when it comes to that opening. The hook itself, measuring the thickness edge to edge right here, is 3/4 of an inch. And then going this direction, so inside edge to outside edge in a straight line, that's an inch and a quarter. And then again, the maximum gross trailer weight capacity for this chain I 10,000 lbs. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Class IV trailer safety chain.

These safety chains are the real deal

by:

Bought these for a friend and he ordered another set for his other trailer

by:

Chains worked great on our trailer. Already installed and ready to use.

by:

Bought this to replace a lighter chain that broke when "someone" didn't latch the 16' trailer's hitch properly. I haven't tried out the breaking strength, but it's heavy duty and the hooks still fit through my hitch.

by:

Great upgrade from the light chains that were originally on my Gator trailer. Super strong and nice coating.

by:

Very substantial chains, probably overkill for my 7 x 14 aluminum cargo trailer. Snap hooks are equally robust.

by:

Product was perfect, price was fair and delivery was quicker than expected. Better than taking the camper back to have it fixed by dealer for free.

by:

As described. Etrailer provided a solid description which was key in planning my application.

by:

Works as it should. Solid and just what I needed.

by:

UPS lost some of the order and MicheleB. in customer service immediately shipped replacements at no charge. Awesome!

by:

Meets my needs for my equipment trailer. Delivered when advertised by my local UPS driver.

by:

Great quality and easy installation.

  • Replacement Safety Chain Options for an Aluma Tilt Trailer
In order to choose the correct safety chains for your trailer, you'll first and foremost need to know the weight of the trailer which I found online to be 7,000 lbs fully loaded. Then, you'll need to determine a suitable length. I recommend simply replacing with the same length that came on the trailer currently. The Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain part # 337B03835SC for example is a good option which measures 35" long and has a capacity of 10,000 lbs. I have attached...

  • Safety Chains Hooks for a 2018 Chevy Denali HD
It sounds like the hooks on your safety chains are not large enough to fit around the safety chain loops on your trailer hitch. If that is the case then I recommend the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain part # 337B03835SC which have fairly large clevis hooks that should fit around the safety chain loops on your trailer hitch. If you try to adapt the safety chains you have now then you will more than likely create a weak point in the chain which is why I recommend...

The Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain w/ Clevis Hook # 337B03835SC that you referenced is sold individually. If you needed a pair you'd need to order a quantity of 2.

  • Safety Chains for Trailer With 10,000 lb GVWR
Your safety chains should have a maximum gross trailer weight rating, which is what you would need to go by to ensure they are properly rated for your 10,000 lb GVWR trailer. If they are then you can attach them to your Ford hitch; wrapping them around the hitch itself won't give them added strength. If you do need stronger chains I recommend taking a look at the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain w/ 1" Hook # 337B03835SC, which are made of carbon steel and have a...

  • Safety Chains that Can be Used with Hitch of 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD
We have have the Safety Chain with Clevis Hook # 337B03835SC which is a high capacity chain that is compatible with the standard safety chain loops like what you have on your 2011 GMC Sierra. These are rated for 18,800 lbs as well. In the picture I attached you can see a similar Chevy/GMC truck as yours that this safety chain was used with.

  • What Trailer Safety Chain Will Work For My 10,000 Pound Capacity Trailer
When it comes to your 10,000 capacity trailer I recommend the Buyers Products Trailer Safety Chains # 337B03822SC. They're made out of a zinc-coated steel. They're 22 inches long and the link diameter is 3/8 inches. I attached a review video of the chains below.

  • Is Buyers Products 43 Proof Chain Stronger than 30 Proof Chain
Yes, the Buyers Products 3/8" x 42" Trailer Safety Chain - 43 Proof # 337BSC3842 has a max gross trailer weight (GTW) rating of 15,000 lbs, so it's going to be stronger than part # 337B03835SC, which is a 3/8" x 35" safety chain - 30 Proof, rated at 10,000 lbs GTW.

For the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain w/ Clevis Hook # 337B03835SC I recommend using either the Buyers Products Safety Chain Clip # 337SC38B or Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer For 3/8" Chain # 3375471001. These are specially designed to work with the 3/8" chain and ensure that it can handle the weight properly. • Safety Chain Setup for my 6000 GVWR RV Trailer
I think you've picked out a great set up. The Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain part # 337B03835SC and the Threaded Quick Link part # C82932 is rated above your GVWR of 6,000 lbs. and Will all fit together really well.

  • Determining The Correct Safety Chains For 15' Car Trailer
I would be happy to help you find the correct rated safety chains for your 15' car trailer, but you will need to confirm the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of your trailer to be sure the chain is rated properly. For example the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables with S-Hooks - 42" Long - 7,500 lbs # C80176 are rated at 7500lbs, so if your trailers GVWR is less than 7500lbs this would be a great option. If your trailer has a GVWR over 7500lbs I recommend taking a look at the Buyers...

  • Are Safety Cables Lighter Weight Than Safety Chains
The Dutton-Lainson 40" Vinyl Coated Safety Cables with Clevis Hook # DL20119 have a shipping weight of 3lbs whereas the closest comparable chain option # 337B03835SC is going to weigh approximately 5lbs per chain. If you're looking to cut weight then I recommend the coiled safety cables. They'll honestly be much easy to store and use than the chains and have a protective coating to help prevent any rust or corrosion . That being said these only have a combined capacity of 6,500lbs so...

  • Recommended Trailer Safety Chains for a 7,500 Lb Trailer
The safety chain weight capacities are not doubled so you'll need to choose a chain that meets or exceeds the loaded weight of the trailer. The shortest option we have that will cover a 7,500 lb trailer is the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain part # 337B03835SC which measures 35" long and has a 10,000 lb weight capacity. The extra chain can be crossed to take up the slack or you can use a device like the Curt Trailer Safety Chain Holder Bracket part # C68CR. I did...

  • Safety Chain and Quick Link for Travel Trailer that Weighs 6,500 lbs
The two items you mentioned of safety chain # 337B03835SC and Blue Ox Quick Link # BX229-0512 are a really excellent choice for safety chains for your trailer. These have more than enough capacity and are well made so they will last a long time and be easy to use as well. if needed you could cut links off to shorten too.

  • How to Choose Safety Chains for 12,000 lb Trailer
The safety chains you choose need to be able to handle at least 12,000 lbs so the # 337B03835SC wouldn't work for your trailer. You also need to choose a length that allows you to cross the chains and also be able to make sharp turns. The best way to determine the right length is to hook up your trailer and make a tight turn so you can measure the distance between the safety chain connections. For safety chains with a 15,000 lb capacity we have the # 337BSC3842 which are 42" long or the...

  • Can I Use Safety Cables Instead of Safety Chains to Tow a 7300 lb Trailer
You can use safety cables instead of chains if your trailer is under the weight rating of the cable. The safety cables are made from nylon coated steel. I do not recommend using the Curt 7500 lb rated safety cable part # C80176 because that would be cutting it pretty close with the weight of your trailer. I recommend Blue Ox Hook Safety cables part # BX88197 that are rated for 10,000 lbs. The higher up you go in weight rating with safety cables the longer the cables get. The Blue Ox cables...

  • Is the Weight Capacity of the RoadMaster Safety Cable Extensions Per Pair
I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster about the RoadMaster 8" Safety Cable Extensions part # RM-910648-8 and they stated that each cable is rated for 8,000 lbs but that does not means it will give you 16,000 lbs in total as if one were to break, you will still only have a 8,000 lb capacity. This is going to be true for most safety cables and chains. If you need something higher then we have the Demco Safety Cable Extensions part # DM9523064 which are rated at 14,000 lbs and have a 12" extension....
