Recessed Grommet Mount Trailer Light Installation Diagram

Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Video Transcript for Review of Peterson Trailer Lights - Stop Turn Tail Reverse Light - M880-7

Today we'll be taking a look at the Peterson Trailer Tail Lights. This is going to offer you four different functions in one light. Right now I have it turned on with just a running light circuit, but it's also going to serve as your stop and tail light or turn light and it also gives you your backup function by giving you that white LED, just a clear light there. So it's really nice that it provides four in one and it's a really nice looking light, has that red lens going over most of our LED's and then the single byte one to serve as our reverse signal. The other advantage with using LEDs is that it keeps us from having to do any maintenance with our light, no bulbs to replace as there's no filaments that can break, so it's going to last for a long time. We really don't have to worry about it once it's installed. They're also going to be more efficient, use less power for just the same output of light and they don't really build up as much heat as your traditional incandescent bulb.It measures about six and a half inches long, by about two and a quarter inches wide side to side there and then from front to back, it's about an inch and a half deep going to that outer portion on our port here. Now on the back we'll have a plug to get our wiring functions. This is going to be part number 417-43, that's that three wire plug. You can find that here at etrailer.com using that part number, it is sold separately.

And then this one is just a single plug, and I have that actually connected with an alligator clamp and that would be for your reverse signal only.So if you don't really need the reverse signal on this light, you don't have to hook that up because other threes will give you the ground connection, your running lights and then your brake lights.Overall I think this is a really nice looking light. It is also handy that it has that reverse signal included in there, so it helps us to stay safe, also helps to illuminate the area that we're going to be backing up into, which is always nice to have. You can get a grommet to go with this that would just go around inaudible 00:02:40 shock protection for the light and also helps to finish off the look there. It meets all FMBSS108 requirements and it can be mounted pretty much in any direction, whether that's horizontal, vertical or anywhere in between. We have seven dials in total and it has an operating range between nine volts and sixteen volts. And that's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Trailer Tail Light.
