Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Luminix Mini Clearance or Side Marker Light. This is going to be a red LED light that can function as either a side-marker light or a clearance light, depending on how you have it mounted. It can also be wired up to be an auxiliary brake or turn signal. So depending on how you want to use it, it's going to be very versatile. It's going to give you a nice, clear red light as you're traveling in those low light conditions to make sure that others are aware of your presence and/or know your intentions of turning or breaking.

So the light itself is actually a white LED, it's got a red lens over it that's going to give it that red color. LEDs are a pretty great replacement for your incandescent lights, if you're not familiar with LEDs, they do last about 50 times longer, they're more efficient. So they provide more light with less power.The bulb is very durable, it doesn't have any brittle filaments in there, so you're not going to have to replace the bulb. This light uses one diode. As far as our dimensions, it's about one and three eighths of an inch wide and about five eighths of an inch deep.This is compatible with your 12 volt DC systems.

It's going to have an input voltage that ranges from 9 volts up to 16 volts, depending on your signals again, how you have it wired up. You can see it's got this grommet that's already mounted on there. You can use recessed mounting with this, you just need a three quarter inch diameter hole to get that mounted in a recessed position.Our three wires here, we're going to have our power lead, our ground wire and our auxiliary function wire, so this is what we're going to hook up to our brake or turn signal. This light is DOT compliant, so it's going to meet all those Department of Transportation rules and regulations. And it's also PC rated, which means not only are we going to be able to see this light when we're standing right in front of it, but we're going to be able to see it at a 90 degree angle as well, so we can stand on either side and still see it.

So it's going to be very versatile, depending on where we want to mount it, we're going to have lots of visibility. This light is made here in the USA, and it does come with a 10 year limited warranty from Luminix.I do want to show you it in action, so I'm going to hook this red wire up to our turn signal, hook our ground up to our ground, and of course, power to power. When I turn this on you can see that nice bright light. I'll turn off the lights in the studio here so you can see. It's going to be very bright.

It would be a great side-marker light so people know where your trailer stops, or where the edge is. And when we turn on our turn signal, you can see it's going to brighten even more, so we have a clear indication of our turning intentions. So overall, it's going to be a great light, very versatile, very easy to get installed and to use, and it's going to be very visible when we're putting it on our trailer.
