Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Slipper leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. The eye of this spring will attach to the front hanger with a suspension bolt. The flat slipper end of the spring will slide into the rear hanger. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the slipper end will slide into the equalizer that connects multiple springs. The shape of the slipper end of a leaf spring may vary slightly due to differences among trailer manufacturers. Because of this, it's important to check your leaf spring's slipper end before purchasing a replacement spring.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, a suspension bolt, and possibly a spring keeper bolt, depending on the design of the rear hanger. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer, but it would be wise to replace the bolts as they can experience wear. It is also recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Product was exactly as described, clean, new, and worked for our repair.
The packaging was a little deformed (weak box) by the time it got to me, but still intact and no damage to product.
Repurposed pop-up camper trailer used to haul kayaks. 2K springs that were on it were too stiff and too short (popping out of slipper keeper). These 1K, slightly longer springs were perfect!

The Slipper spring on a Calkins Trailer (23 yrs old) disintegrated and It took a while to find the replacement because Calkins in now defunct. The E trailer parts arrived in a few days . Everything went well except that the U bolt treads were too short so I had to jury-rig the second plate underneath so that the clamps tightened round the Axle and it is working fine. The first photos show Pre and Post the third photo shows that the axle itself is also corroded and though still strong, I reinforced it with Carbon fiber.

I'm building a light duty trailer for hauling a inflatable boat (100lbs) and outboard (100lbs). These light duty springs will be just about perfect for what I need. It was hard to find light duty trailer springs, seems like most online sites they all started at 2000LBs''

Repairing a small boat trailer and needed new springs and tires. I found these here and at good prices. Hopefully I won't have to do any more work on the trailer but if I do I will be looking here for parts.

OK, my bad ordering the first 2-leaf spring for my trailer and not realizing it wasn't for the set for both sides.

After calling back a second spring was there in 48 hours and that was with ups ground.

Awesome service, great part, the way it should be done.

Replaced the leafs on my mini trailer to 1k lbs springs. Rides so much better now, etrailer was a no hassle buy. Good prices, shipping and tracking. Thank you

by:

Excellent product. The U-bolts fit the slipper springs nicely and were easy to install. I ended up not using the mounting plates as the plates welded to the existing axle matched the U-bolts.

Replacement springsMy husband purchased an old rusty boat trailer to work on for a winter project. He began taking it apart and found out a section of each spring was rusted and broken. We didn't know if we could find replacement springs for such an old trailer. I went on line and one of the first results was etrailer.com. I immediately found exactly what I was looking for at a very reasonable price. The real surprise was when the order was delivered to our door less than 24 hrs. later! We now have the website bookmarked for future projects!

Works on my 14’ Jon boat trailer. Wish I would’ve went with a little stiffer/ stronger springs but these work great too!

by:

Reasonable price, quick delivery, exact replacement for my sagged, rusted together leaf springs on an old trailer I'm putting back on the road. They are made in China. I didn't see that in the description. Perhaps cou try of origin needs to be included.

by:

Excellent spring for any properly rated trailer. I used the spring on my trailer for an inflatable boat. Worked perfectly and fix exactly. Also bought new u-bolts and plates.

by:

Product arrived exactly as described, was about a week late (due to circumstances that were out of etrailer's control) I checked with etrailer and they responded quickly and kept me updated on the shipment of my order the rest of the way. I appreciate the great customer service and will be shopping with them again!

by:

slipper spring was exact match..only 40 minutes to install sweet!!!....next time i drop a tree on my trailer (dont intend to but hey) i will defitnitly order thru etrailer they have it all.....tires are waycool also went on rim with no prob many thanks highly recomend both items and doin business with etrailer

by:

I received the set of springs 1 week after placing my on-line order, shipped UPS Ground from Missouri to California. They were an exact match, and were easily installed. Thank you for providing detailed dimensions and specifications on your web site.

by:

I really like these cheap 1.75" slipper springs. Unlike the even cheaper springs my jet ski trailer came with, these have a clamp to make sure they don't rotate or come apart in the front. These are a bargain for the price, but I would probably rate them in the 800 lbs range.

  • Higher Capacity 24-5/8 Inch Long Slipper Spring
We offer a 1000 lb spring (2000 lbs/axle) spring as part # SP-179275 which has the same 24-5/8 inch length as the # SP-177275 spring you've already purchased, so the spring would be a perfect fit without needing to move any of the spring hangers. You might want to hold off on making any final decisions about your leaf springs until you have a better idea of how much the camper will weigh once completed.

  • Leaf Spring Recommendation for Trailer with Slippers Springs that are 24-7/8 inches
When picking out leaf springs there are two important things needed. You first need to get a spring that is rated for the weight of your trailer and then get one that is the proper length. Since you sent us a drawing that shows your slipper springs being 24-7/8 inches in length what you would need to do is determine what axle capacity you need. For a 2k axle you would need is the part # SP-179275 or for 1k axle part # SP-177275. Or for 1,500 lb axle you would need part # SP-178275.

The 2-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End for 1,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-5/8" Long, # SP-177275 will most likely work well on your trailer and will ease the beating on your 400 lb sailboat. The 3/8 inch difference in length from your current springs shouldn't be an issue based on the curve, so I don't forsee an issue. However, if you find out it does bind and cause issues, you would need to move the mount. Since you will be lowering the capacity of your trailer, make sure your boat...

The lowest rated trailer leaf springs we offer are for 1,000 lb axles like the slipper spring part # SP-177275. This might be a little stiff for your boat but would still work great. This is a very common spring for smaller boat trailers like your so it would be a great solution. If you needed a hanger kit you'd then want the part # APS3SE and you'd be set.

  • Recommended Leaf Spring Capacity for a Conversion Boat Trailer
Yes and no, a leaf spring with a lower capacity will provide a better quality ride than a leaf spring with a higher capacity but you will not want to make that part the lowest rated suspension component. Do you know the axle capacity? It sounds like you have a lightweight utility trailer. If that's the case, we can get you very close to your original slipper springs. For a 1500 lb axle, use # SP-178275 or # SP-177275 for a 1000 lb axle. Because these springs are about an inch longer than the existing, you'll need to grind off the existing rear hanger and weld a new rear hanger like # 115706S in, about an inch reward of the old rear hanger.
