Let's take a look at the Bulldog Pipe Mounted Swivel Trailer Jack. So this one's gonna have a static capacity of 5,000 pounds and a lift capacity of 3,000 pounds. What that means is it can handle 5,000 pounds when it's not being cranked up or down, but the lift capacity if we exceed that 3,000 pounds, we're really gonna start damaging the gears if we start to crank it up with that much weight on there, so just be mindful. And that's the difference between the two ratings. Looking down at the foot plate, it's not a huge foot plate, but you can notice these welds here. They're good welds, but this is not gonna be a removable plate.
So this is not a good candidate for a wheel or something, if you wanted to add it on. But as far as dimensions go, it's about 7 1/2 inches long by about four inches wide. It's gonna be zinc-coated along with the tube on the inside. It's two inch by two inch, and then moving up to the bigger tube, it's 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 , and it has a nice gray powder coated finish. This is the top wind jack.
So it's gonna be on the top. This is going to potentially get in the way of some of the stuff on your trailer. If you like to pile stuff up, up here, like a toolbox or something, but it is gonna be able to rotate around. So we're not really completely stuck with that. The radius is about 6 1/2 inches from here all the way to the center over here, and it does have a plastic piece here.
That's gonna rotate with your hand, so it's gonna make it a little bit easier for ya. Whenever we're ready to go down the road, we have a pretty good size handle here for our pin. The pin is a 5/8 inch diameter pin and it's not gonna run off because it's connected by a chain, which I like, because I lose everything. So the fact that it's tethered to it is nice so I know it's not gonna run off, I don't have to replace it. So now that that's done, all you gotta do is just put it in here and it's nice and parallel with our trailer, so we're ready to go.
From the center of our pipe mount to the bottom of our foot plate when it's fully retracted it's gonna be about 15 3/16 of an inch. And then when it's completely extended, it'll be about 30 3/16. We are gonna get this with the kit, and this is gonna be used to weld onto your trailer. If you already have one and it's smaller, you can use it, because this will go over the smaller ones. And if you do end up going with the bigger ones, the bigger one's gonna go over the jack. So when we're doing this, notice how the hole is closer to one side The larger gap side is what we wanna put towards the trailer. We also wanna make sure that the holes are perfectly up and down and side to side, 'cause if they're not, then the jack is gonna be a little jacked, and we don't wanna do that. We don't want a crooked jack, and we do want to make sure and get a nice weld on there. Don't put too much on there, 'cause we have found if it's a big old globby mess right here, the holes don't really tend to line up. The measurements we went over earlier is going to be kind of useful whenever we're picking a position as well, if you have a junction box or a trailer brake controller somewhere on the outside of your trailer, so just be mindful of that. I've spent a lot of time with a lot of different jacks, and what you wanna do is hook your trailer up to your vehicle and then just measure from the center of your frame, down to the ground. That's gonna give you an idea of what size you're really looking for, but if you want to get the easiest one to get the plate all the way down to the ground, grab one with a drop leg. It'll do a lot of that moving for ya so you're don't have to sit there and crank it a hundred times just to get it down to the ground. But the main thing is capacity. You don't wanna limit your trailer from the beginning, so get an idea of what you're putting on your trailer, crunch the numbers and then go on our site and pick a jack that's not really gonna limit ya and has plenty capacity for what you need. But all in all, I think this is a great size for this. It has a great capacity for what I usually have on this trailer. So it's a good choice for me, and hopefully it'll be a good choice for you, but if it isn't, we have a lot of different options on our website, so go ahead and check those out. The jack was chosen because of it's dimensions that would fit my application and lift rating. I just recently installed it and the fit was just what I needed. The paint on the unit is not sufficient and did require redoing. If the pipe mount could incorporate a security attachment it would be much improved. I expect that it will provide a longer service life than the jack it replaced.

trailer jack was what i expected - used bulldog before and have they have fallen into my favor. a sturdy, reliable product for my 7000lb GVW trailer.

Very well built and heavy duty. Used for a replacement of an older Bulldog that sat outside for 10+ years and rusted. Love the addition of the grease zerk near the top of the sleeve.
Only minor complaint is that the packaging for shipping was not great. I recieved the jack with the top of the sleeve/handle sticking out of the box. It had punched right through the cardboard. Ended up being no issue, but I could easily see how that would have resulted in a bent handle.
Works great, very well built. I’m using it on my John Deere 10’ CX15 rotary cutter which is in the neighborhood of 2,000-2,100 pounds of tongue weight and it lifts it with ease and is very stable. Also has the perfect range of height.

Mounted on front of 12 ft. dump trailer, works great. Jack can be removed while trailer is in use.
Application is on a 24' utility trailer used for equipment hauling & general purpose, including kids hay rides. A replacement and upgrade for a jack which was stolen. This jack is very stable and has strength for heavy loads when trailer is not attached to tow truck. The price at etrailer.com was very favorable even when compared to lesser quality jacks.
Good Quality
I ordered this jack to replace my tongue mounted jack because it would sometimes hit the ground going over uneven terrain. When I received this jack I didn't realize the top wind would hit my spare tire so I contacted etrailer.com and they exchanged the jack fro a side wind. Great customer service.
Used this jack for my John Deere CX15 rotary cutter. Works great, lifts the front of the cutter up with ease even though it’s over 2,000 pounds of tongue weight IIRC. And plenty of range on the height for this application also.

I was not happy that I could not purchase these items locally, in an attempt to support local businesses. Ive not noticed any changes to the Bulldog trailer jack function and condition. Re-coating the original paint and lubrication as needed should extend its life expectancy.
