Structurally sound. Written instructions plus video’s that I understood…however, I had to have my mechanic install utilizing his car lift. He said it was straight forward and easy.
This is the 2nd time I have ordered a hitch receiver (first was for my Scion xb) and I could not be happier with this hitch on my wife's Sonata. I installed it myself-took me longer, but mostly that was dealing with axle stands and the extra heft of a hybrid.
The e-trailer videos are excellent-I reviewed on my phone as I installed, and using basic tools I was able to complete the job at hand-really liked the included kit and threaded bolts/captive plates. Overall everything is solid feeling.
Late writing a review because we just drove 2,500 miles with 2 bikes (and kid's run bike) on our Yakima hitch (also purchased from e-trailer...) Always recommend you when people ask about hitches-fast delivery and great service with excellent helpful videos-cheers!

Still works great-bought out 3rd hitch from etrailer now
Thanks etrailer! Awesome trailer hitch and bike rack. I had my mechanic install the hitch. I printed the installation instructions and went to see him and ask about installing and he told me no problem. I dropped off the car in and the morning before work and it was ready when I got off work. The hitch is solid and perfect for the Swagman XTC2 bike carrier. I forgot to buy the recommended support strap, but I had a small ratchet strap already that works perfectly. It’s very solid and secure when in use.
This really is a very economical way to add bicycle hauling to my 2012 Sonata.

It’s a hitch that’s working without a hitch it does what it’s supposed to. It still looks nice under my Hyundai Sonata.
Receiver hitch was easy enough to install on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. I put the rear of the car up on ramps and left it there for 3 days working about an hour or two each evening as time allowed. If I didn’t have the luxury of using my wife’s car and needed to minimize the time my car was unavailable, I probably would have needed 4 hours for the full install and cleaning everything up. Hitch is solid for what I use it for, a hitch mounted bike rack. Not a single chip or fade in the finish after one year. I park outside also.
I needed a way to tow a trailer to San Diego as my daughter is going away to college. Heather was not only very professional in helping me select the correct receiver hitch and wiring harness but she also very friendly as well. She said my order would ship out the following day but she got it shipped out the same day and I received my hitch one day earlier than expected! I found installation very easy with the assistance of the video posted online by etrailer.com. The hitch fit my Optima perfectly. hitch mounting holes on bracket was a little off had to pull it in but nice finish, and wiring harness was easy plug and play.

This product was high quality, easy to order, and was delivered faster than I had expected. I am extremely pleased and would order future products for sure through this company. It did however take closer to an hour to install then the 20 minutes the product advertised.
Purchased this Curt hitch for a 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T SE (with dual exhaust). My 29 year old utility trailer has seen action with several vehicles over the years. And each hitch installation has been more time consuming than the previous vehicle. I chose the Curt over the Draw-tite because the supposed installation was a bit easier and supposedly no trimming of the heat shield was necessary. The hitch itself is pretty good, it's the instructions that are lacking.
The hitch install (whether Curt or Draw-tite) boil down to 5 sections: partially dropping the rear of the exhaust; removing the heat shield(s); getting 4 bolts & spacers into 2 rails of the car frame; attaching the hitch to the frame rails; and re-assemblying heat shields and exhaust. The instructions got the removing the heat shields right ... everything else needed more information. Installation time was supposed to be 20 minutes for a professional shop, 40 minutes for a DIY . With the instructions and misdirections that came with the hitch, figure on a weekend.
Here are the tips I learned.... (with the exception of the actual bolting of the hitch to the frame, you can do this solo in your driveway in an afternoon, but you will get dirty so have some Lava soap ready, and you'll be on a tarp under your car, so pick a day when it's nice). I raised the back tires by driving onto 2 pads made from cheapo landscape timbers; the 3 inch rise is sufficient for me [and I'm 6'4" and not anorexic].. Pad is: five 14"lengths of timber, flat side down nailed at each end to 2 sections of 2x4.
For a 2012 Sonata 2.0T with dual exhaust ....
To drop the back portion of the exhaust, there are 2 hangers (1 on each side), each hanger is held to the frame with two 12mm nuts. Rest each of the mufflers on a box 9-1/2 inches high, [cardboard is fine]. Further upstream, where the exhaust pipe has a Y, there is a hanger that attaches to the bracket on the exhaust pipe with a 12mm bolt; remove that bolt. Instructions go on about detaching rubber hangers .... not necessary just the four 12mm nuts and the one 12mm bolt. Spraying nuts with WD-40 before loosening is a great idea.
Once exhaust is partially dropped, the heat shields are held with 10mm nuts. Four nuts for each shield. Don't forget the WD-40 trick. And each heat shield has an arrow pointing forward.
Now you are at the frame rails; remove the 4 pads and notice the 4 holes. That's where the bolts/spacers are going to hang from. Trick is to get the bolt& spacer into the rail. Forget the die grinder, the end of the rail is actually open. Shine a bright light into the rearmost hole and you will see light on the inside of the bumper. Use the provided fishing wire and get the bolt & spacer hanging from each hole. The forward holes are the most difficult; take your time; and use one hand to tug while the other hand is jammed into the bumper space and pushes the bolt &spacer. Rail actually has a bit of an inside lip by the bumper end, and the spacer is about 1/8" too long for a good fit. I used a hacksaw and sliced about 1/8 to 3/16" off one end of two spacers. For the bolts by the 2 rear holes, you want that trimmed spacer end at the bumper end of the rail. Again it's tough, and you may have jiggle the bolt/spacer and poke them in order to get that shorter end facing the bumper. The purpose is to give the bolt sliding adjustment room for mounting the hitch.
Attaching the hitch is where you need a friend. With you on your back, have the hitch on your tummy and slide and curse the hitch between the frame and the exhaust. Then get the bolts into the hitch holes and attach the 3/4"mounting nuts (loosely at first, AND be careful not to push the bolts into the frame rail .... use some big bobby pins to clip on the bolts first to keep them from being pushed into the frame by accident; after the nut threads on a bit, you then pull the bobby pin). You can get a torque wrench to the rear bolts; the front bolts, I just did the best I could with a 3/4" wrench.
Heat shield reattachment is difficult without enlarging at least 1 hole a bit; just a bit. No way could a pro do the entire job alone in 20 minutes; and if I did this install again, I couldn't do it in 40 minutes ...
probably 2 hours if a neighbor's kid didn't come over and start asking a bushel of questions.

Seems like a very good hitch and would have been a breeze to install had my car not been rear ended! Only suggestion is you might find it easier to just remove the entire exhaust vibration hanger brackets temporarily instead of trying to finagle them off the posts! Look forward to using the hitch now!

Working great - No issues
A little bit heavier than I expected, but knowing whatever it tows will be secured is worth a little extra weight.
This has worked fine. My only problem was that I din't have the necessary tools to elongate the holes in the frame. I took the car and hitch to my auto shop and they lengthened the holes and installed the hitch. The hitch has worked fine otherwise.

We did like the hitch and harness. They both worked perfectly.
Prompt order and shipping communication. Thorough installation guidance via online videos. Fast shipping and well packaged. Received quickly and in excellent condition. Took a bit longer to install because I installed it on 2015 Optima by myself, but it bolted right in. The supplied fish wires worked extremely well. Very important to make sure bolts are torqued as specified.

No issues whatsoever. I use it for my bike rack and to occasionally tow my Yamaha Waverunner. Purchased the 4 pin tow lighting wiring adapter and it installed quickly and with no wiring modifications.
Delivery was quick. Packaging was horrible. It was just a box that the hitch was busted through so I had to paint some of it to repair scratches. I should not be repairing paint due to poor packaging on a brand new product. I realize it’s just a hitch but I don’t want it rusting in a month either. Charge $2 more or something to package product appropriately. Bummer

I bought (Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
Item # C11025) last year and it has worked out.
If you install it yourself be ready for a pretty big job. I did it and would do it again but it was a tough dirty job.
The product itself has been fantastic with no issues. We're using it to support a bike rack for 2 bikes on a Kia Optima.
Do not try to use this for 4-bikes as that would overload the 1 1/4" hitch capability.
I have just installed the trailer hitch. The delayed install from the purchase date is due to the cold MN weather. The installation went exactly according to the instructions. I had to enlarge the forward most holes to install bolts and support plate. I also removed the two heat shields and cut a hole for the forward bolt to come through then reinstalled before installing hitch. I am retired 40+ years as an auto tech. I mention this because this is not easy to install alone because of the weight and alignment of hitch over the bolts. I used a motorcycle lift to help with lifting and alignment of hitch which worked well. I also used car ramps and did this install with a creeper. I really like how it looks; it is hidden quite well. I am using this with a bicycle rack. I have not purchased a trailer wiring harness yet since I am not towing a trailer. However, it is a solid unit which will work great for a trailer for light hauls for a 2013 Kia Optima.
Installed on my 2013 Sonata GLS. Very professional product, quick shipping and a very reasonable cost. I did install this myself, believe me, it's pretty darn easy. This is definitely a 2 person job to actually bolt up the hitch once you have installed the bolts through the frame. I had to modify the front two holes as the installation video's show. I have attached a couple pics of the installation. The side view is to show the distance I lifted the vehicle with jack stands. I just used a strap and went from spring to spring to support the exhaust and the final pic is of the installed hitch. Local shop wanted $300 to install. It took me all of 2 hours, not bad for a fat middle aged white haired dude.
I received the hitch quickly and the installation directions and video support on YouTube was right on. It took about 1 hr. to install the hitch and I am very happy with it. I am in the process of ordering other products from etrailer because they have great solutions and price match any equal deal which they did on this purchase.

High quality hitch that was fairly straight forward on installation. The instructions were complete enough and well diagramed, that even a non-mechanical person, such as myself, could properly install it. I have since sold the car, but the addition of the hitch for bike and accessory racks, was an added value.
Installation went well and after a year we've been completely pleased with the hitch, using it to carry a bike rack. The only tricky installation story was that I needed a Dremel to widen a pair of holes in my 2012 Sonata's frame, in order to fish the bolts through. I remember it taking me about 3 hours, and I could probably do it again in 1.5.

Great after one year. My wife and I are in our seventies and install our bike rack and bikes ourselves and drive up I-95 from Savannah to Hilton Head with our e-bikes. The hitch works wonderfully with no problems.
