Hidden Design for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight when you're not towing. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed and only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. But unlike other hitches with hidden cross tubes, the Stealth goes one further. You can remove the receiver portion of the hitch for a completely out-of-sight setup. To mount the receiver, just insert it up into the access port that is built into the cross tube. Secure the receiver to the hitch with the supplied bolt and washers. When you're done towing, just remove the receiver portion to return your vehicle to its clean, factory appearance.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Installation instructions were clear and the project went well. No real hiccups.
My only desire would be for the hitch to be about an inch or 2 higher. Every now and then I will scrape bottom backing down a steep driveway even without having carrying anything. Or over a speed bump while carrying my bike rack.

by:

Its OK. The structure looks good but the hitch is off center to the left and also twisted toward the right side of the car. So it makes the rear of the car look off. We pulled the bumper cover over to try and hide the flaw and that helped. I also had it powder coated because the coating that was on it wouldn't have lasted half a Maine winter. So it works, but the details of it are poor.

Installed on a 2013 WRX Hatch
The part
itself is good quality, no issues with paint carroding, welds look good and nothing is flimsy. Love the ability to hide the hitch entirely by removing the drop post.

Install was pretty straightforward, the hardest part is removal of the bumper beam and any existing hardware. Some plastic on this cars bumper will need to be trimmed for the drop post to clear.

For this car specifically, be prepared for issues with exhaust clearance. My car has an aftermarket exhaust (Invidia q300) and I had to try a few different exhaust hangers to get an acceptable fit. There are many different hangers available so you may need to try a few. I had success with the two-position grimmspeed ones and it's still pretty tight.

2010 Subaru Impreza

Etrailer and EcoHitch rock - Hitch arrived as predicted and installed just as advertised; instructions were clear and all the hardware was in the package. The cardboard box was punctured by the hitch during shipping but the hitch was not damaged - it's build like a tank! The removable 2" receiver bolts up very solid.

Install took about 2 - 3 hours by myself for mechanicals but electrical took longer - it's tough to route the power wire to the Curt trailer controller (also bought from etrailer) from the trunk to fuse panel. The included bolt threader worked fine; easier than I expected.

Why not 5 stars? No metal-to-metal clearance issues with SPT quad-tip exhaust on my 2010 STI SE but the front two bolts do touch the rubber exhaust hangers. Don't think it will be an issue but may shorten the front bolts to give more clearance.

Hints:
1. hang the hitch with a rope around the center section of the hitch, tied to the latch for the hatch - makes it easy to maneuver one side in place, tighten those two bolts then go the other side. If you loosely thread one nut on one of the bolts, you won't have to worry about pushing back into the frame while you're working on the other side.
2. Liberal use of PB Blaster to loosen the bumper beam bolts will make your life much easier - squirt as soon as you get the bumper cover off and it will be ready when you get around to taking the beam off.

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. The one without the bike rack shows hitch installed with receiver removed.

Everything was as expected. I will follow up with some better pictures when available.

I would recommend etrailer.

  • Can a 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX Tow a Trailer with EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver
The EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7261 for wagon models or part # 306-X7279 for sedan models is a great option for a 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX and will allow you to tow a trailer up to 2,000 lbs. That said, you'd need to confirm the towing capacity in the owner's manual of the vehicle and go by the lower of the two ratings. In order to complete your setup you'd need the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.

  • Can a 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback Tow a 2,000 lb Trailer
According the online version of the owner's manual for your 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback (page 8-13) Subaru says that your vehicle is not designed or intended to be used for towing a trailer. The reason there are trailer hitches like the EcoHitch # 306-X7261 that you referenced is for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. I wouldn't know how your vehicle would handle or perform under the 2,000 lb max weight of the trailer hitch as trailer hitch manufacturers only test their...

  • Is there a 1-1/4 Inch EcoHitch Option for a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX with Quad Exhaust
The EcoHitch # 306-X7261 for your 2011 Subaru Impreza only has a 2 inch option but you can use reducer sleeve # HT02 to use 1-1/4 inch accessories with the 2 inch receiver. The use of a reducer sleeve does not decrease the hitch tongue weight capacity like other adapters would.

  • Will EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver 306-X7261 Fit 2011 Subaru Impreza W/ Single Exhaust?
I may have another option for you, but the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7261 you were looking at will only fit the 2008-2011 Subaru Impreza 5-door Wagon with the Quad Exhaust and will not work on your Impreza as your vehicle only has the single exhaust. The only trailer hitch receivers available for the single exhaust models will be visible and do not have a removeable receiver like the # 306-X7261. Of the available options I recommend the Draw-Tite...

As long as your 2011 Subaru WRX hatchback isn't a STI model we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7261 that fits with the quad exhaust which is a hidden hitch with a 2 inch opening or we have the Curt part # C11120 which is a 1-1/4 inch hitch.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2008 Subaru Impreza
For your 2008 Subaru Impreza, I recommend the EcoHitch Class 2 hitch # 306-X7261. I prefer this hitch over the others we offer, because it has the highest tongue weight capacity at 300 lbs. With a motorcycle carrier like the one you are describing, I think the additional capacity will be key. It is also the only hitch we offer for your vehicle that has a 2" receiver. So you will have no trouble finding compatible accessories. This hitch also features a removable receiver, so it will be...

For your 2008 Subaru Impreza 5 door with single exhaust you are going to be limited to a 1-1/4" hitch like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver item # DT24959. • Hitch for 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback That Fits with Aftermarket Exhaust
All hitch makers base their designs on a vehicle's stock exhaust setup. There are just too many aftermarket items to allow them to do testing to confirm hitch compatibility with a car that has one of these. Draw-Tite hitch # DT24959 and Curt # C11315 both fit the WRX hatchback with stock single exhaust as long as they are not the STi. EcoHitch # 306-X7261 does not fit your car. For your 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX 5 Door Hatchback WRX with the Invidia single exhaust. I recommend the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" Item # 306-X7261. This hitch hugs the spare tire pan and mounts to the frame rail above the factory muffler. From what I have seen the factory muffler is much wider that the round shaped muffler on the Invidia exhaust. As long as your muffler comes straight out the back and is not angled it should be compatible.

The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7261 you asked from for your 2012 Subaru Impreza is not compatible with your 400 lb motorcycle with a carrier. This hitch is only rated for a max capacity of 300 lbs. That greatly surpasses the hitch weight capacity and doesn't even include the weight of the motorcycle carrier itself.
