Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2008 impreza 2.5i (non turbo). Great fit. No hole cutting required. Exhaust drop is best done with a helper. Video on [online] is very helpful. I recommend raising rear end with ramps or lift.

Overall trailer hitch is as advertised. Good quality construction/ welds look good. Priced right. Shipped OK/ arrived no issues.
Installation was a bit tough. Videos were extremely helpful and a must to understand the order of bolt/ spacer block installation. The written instructions were of no help just to verify torque settings.
Two points of issue. The forward most bolt (one drivers side/ one passengers side) is juuuusssst that much too short. The kit supplied 4 -1.5" grade 5 carriage bolts but there really should be 2 - 1.75" or 2" bolts for those forward most holes because once you add the flat washer + the lock washer + the spacer in the frame and the spacer between the frame/ hitch it is impossible to screw the nut on. See attached pictures
Also, once installed and put to use, the Thule bike rack bolt that goes thru the hitch could not be tightened w/ the Thule wrench. The trailer hitch chain loops would not allow. A ratchet w/ 3/4" socket will need to be kept in the car for the Mrs to tighten when using the bike rack.
Hitch looks good and is installed and operational. Thank you

Chevrolet Colorado

A solid hitch that the do-it-yourselfer can install. Bolted right onto the daughter's Subaru. Bike rack has never been out of the hitch since the install(the bike gets keep in the car sometimes for safety!) Very happy customer! Since college graduation last spring- car, hitch, bike rack, and bike have been from Maine to California with Utah and Colorado stops and now a job in Vermont! Everything works great! Thanks for a great product making people happy.

2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Product shipped fast but packaging could be a little better. The box was heavy duty but the hitch was put in there with no secondary protection so it arrived scuffed up from the cardboard. There were also a fair amount of chips in the paint but I run a powder coat shop and blasted it and applied a zinc primer anyways to withstand the salt and brines they put on our Minnesota roads in the winter so this didn't bother me. The factory powder coat on this was pretty average but I understand not everyone is willing to shell out extra cash for better paint and just want a functional hitch for a fair price. Installation was straightforward and a breeze. No need to drill any extra holes on my 2017 Crosstrek. Two people make mounting the hitch a lot easier so you don't knock the bolts back into the frame rail. Overall fit was spot on and should do me just fine.

2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Great hitch for Subaru Crosstrek. I use it to put a tray style bike rack on the back. Easy install, I had no issues with the length of the bolts as other customers have mentioned. Also did not have to drill out the holes in the frame on my 2016 Crosstrek. Included bolt fishing wire makes it a breeze to install. If you do it solo, might want to have a hydraulic jack to hold the hitch in place while you bolt it on. Have not tried it for towing, but it looks like it's built solid. Arrived super quickly from etrailer.com, highly recommend!

by:
2017 Subaru Impreza

Excellent product. Fits perfect for the 2017 Impreza. Could be a bit more snug up to the bumper but very happy with it overall. The front bolt could be longer as others have mentioned. I would suggest installing the rear bolts first and then the front ones.
Also, wish the receiver stop was a bit further back so that my rack would sit closer to the bumper, but overall very happy with it.

2015 Subaru Impreza

Hitch arrived promptly; installation was not difficult and the 'how-to' video was invaluable.

by:
2015 Subaru Impreza

I haven't installed the part yet, however the part came in delivered with no packing material but the cardboard box to protect the part. The powder coat finish was chipped off in several areas so I'll have to touch up with paint to prevent any future rust. There was was also a blob of powder coat piled up in one area that won't be visible when installed, however it just looks unappealing.

by:

Installation instructions were good. Took about 1.5hrs to install. You will need a second set of hands. Works great. No issues. Good price. Fit my Subaru Impreza perfectly.

This worked wonderfully for our Subaru Crosstrek. I was able to install it myself and we have used it many times over the last year. We have a Thule bike rack that holds 2 bikes and we have taken our bikes to the river and beach several times.

This has held up great over the year. All the bolts are still tight and there is no rust so it still looks the same.

by:

Happy with my hitch :) The product was relatively easy to install, it took two of us about 1.5 hours to finish. I'm using it for my bike rack and it fits my 1.25" yakima "hold up" perfectly. I was worried that it would be too close to the car or too low to the ground, but I haven't had any problems.

by:

Eases of install. took me a whole 45 mins. Definitely helps to have a second set of hands to hold the hitch in place. Highly recommend for a 2014 Impreza/crosstrek

This hitch went on my daughter's car for her bike with no problems. I like the detailed information on your website and have made several purchases because of that.

by:
2016 Subaru Impreza

Product DT24959 Really easy to install. Watching the video on their website is all the information you need to install trailer hitch. I was lucky to have access to a gas station lift and a second person to hold unit in place while I bolted unit on. We left off the spacer (item 6) maybe needed for different model of car also no need to lower muffler on 2016 Subaru Impreza.

by:

The hitch installed easily and fit as expected. It took me about 90 minutes to install it myself. I did have to remove 2 of the plastic body fasteners under the bumper on the driver's side of the car to free up the plastic panel underneath. It was interfering with installing the hitch. I put the fasteners back in after the hitch was installed. The plastic panel rests against the hitch, but it isn't an issue.

by:

Easy install, works great for my bike rack and even a small trailer

by:

So happy with this hitch and this company!! Great prices, fast shipping and most importantly... excellent product. Great instructions. Great fitment. It took me about an hour because I did it solo with the help of the Jack. This hitch fits tucked under so nicely. I highly recommend this company and this product. Thank you!!

  • Recommended Hitch-Mount 2-Bike Platform Bike Rack for 2015 Subaru Crosstrek
Your 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek could be fitted with either a 1-1/4-inch Class I light-duty hitch like # DT24959 or a higher capacity 2-inch Class III hitch like # C13135. We do offer 2-bike platform style hitch bike racks that will fit in both hitch sizes, one of which is the Swagman XTC-2 rack # S64670. This wheel-and-frame-mount rack accommodates bikes up to a 66-inch wheelbase and a 35-lbs-per-bike weight capacity. If you prefer a rack that makes contact only with the wheels then you...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2015 Subaru Impreza Sport Limited
Some of the same trailer hitch receivers for the 2014 Subaru Impreza fit the 2015 models. It depends on the specific model of Impreza because there was a larger vareity in 2014. For your Sport Limited I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe, part # DT24959. It's a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch confirmed to fit. I've linked the install details as well as a video of it being installed on a Crosstrek. The process is very similar even though it's a different vehicle. In addition to the hitch...

If you have a grinding wheel type of bit that could work to enlarge the frame holes on your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. Another option is to use a file. It takes a bit more elbow grease than a power tool but it works. And you also might be able to use a chisel and hammer if you have room enough to work under the vehicle.

  • Will the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack Fit a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
If your 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek has the Subaru factory 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch I do not recommend the Chinook bike rack # S64683. The reason is that the hitch pin hole is very close to the end of the receiver on that hitch and not enough of the bike rack shank will be inside of the receiver. If you have an aftermarket Class I hitch such as # DT24959 or Class III hitch # 76084 then it would work.

If you were to remove the spoiler then you should be able to use a trunk mount rack and either the Raceway 2 or 3 ( # TH45JV or # TH56BV ) would fit. If you cannot remove the spoiler then I recommend using a trailer hitch and hitch mount bike rack. For a trailer hitch to fit, your Impreza will need to have single exhaust. We have hitch fits for your 2017 Subaru Impreza but the Hidden Hitch 90092 you referenced does not fit your vehicle as it was designed for much older Ford cars. Instead the most hidden option we have for your vehicle is the EcoHitch part # 306-X7350 which has a 2 inch opening, but since you mentioned wanting the smaller hitch size the best option is the Draw Tite part # DT24959 although the crosstube of this hitch will be visible unlike the EcoHitch. For the 2014 Impreza, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite # DT24959, assuming your Impreza is a single exhaust hatchback model.
