Hitch is super heavy duty. Fit was fine and install was easy for anyone with a little mechanical skill, and for anyone with some experience on cars or trucks a treat to install. All parts came correct. Bike hitch fit in and stayed in with minimum wobble. Thank you

The Draw -Tite hitch has worked just fine for the year plus I have had it. So heavy duty it should last a life time. On two 1500 mile trips everything stayed in place and no wobble noticed driving with a few saftey bunji cords in place to make sure bikes were secure. Its always smart to have a back up to anything. 2008 Toyota Highlander. Drawtite 75726 hitch. Easy installation. 9 bolts total. One bolt wouldn’t line up until I torqued all the other ones in place. Use a torque wrench. Instructions said 42ft lb, so that’s what I did. Perfect fit with 19” spare tire and wheel. I kept the spare in place for trailer hitch installation; no problem whatsoever.
Followed the instructions to completely remove the driver side plastic wheel well piece. The passenger side was removed for installation of hitch, and then reinstalled.

Bought a Curtis hitch from Amazon first. Holes did not line up impossible to install and I sent it back. Went to E-Trailer and got a Draw-Tite hitch. Wife and I installed it in about a hour It was a perfect fit. Curtis hitch’s are a a piece of junk just look at the reviews.

THE HITCH IS MUCH MORE ROBUST THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. MY WIFE AND I PLAN TO INSTALL IT TOMORROW. BEING 69YRS. OLD WILL MAKE IT A BIT MORE DIFFICULT, BUT MY WIFE ASSURES ME SHE CAN HANDLE HER END. SO FAR EVERYTHING SEEMS GOOD. ALL THE BOLTS AND WASHERS ARE THERE AND EVERYTHING IN THE WIRING HARNESS APPEARS TO BE THERE. I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES, WITH PHOTO'S. THANKS.

Great, my wife and I love it. We wired the trailer in and everything works perfect. Not bad for a 69 year old. It saved me lots of money. Thank you.

There are a three things that really stood out for me. First, the installation instructions were easy to follow and involved little "trial and error". Although having three people guide the hitch into place for initial attachment is recommended. The wiring harness was easy-peasy! Second, I use this hitch mostly for pulling light loads around town, but, the week after installation I pulled a 12' tandem-wheel cargo trailer full of furniture over 800 miles through three mountain passes without a problem. Third, and more service related, the self-help tips on etrailer's website are invaluable.

2019 Toyota Highlander

I bought this to put on my 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport. It's a very nice, well built hitch. It fit perfectly, even with my full size, 19 inch, spare tire. The only complaint I had about it was the packaging. The box arrived via the brown truck and was torn at both ends by the edges of the hitch, which caused the hitch to have a few nicks and scratches to the paint. The delivery driver even apologized for it. I contacted etrailer.com via email. Their customer service was great, responding in just a few hours. We worked out a solution. This hitch is very well made. It's welded together and the bolt holes lined up perfectly with my Highlander's. It's heavy and awkward, so I do recommend two people to put it on. Installation was easy...my 13 year old nephew helped me. You could probably put it on by yourself, but two people make it easier as you have to lift it over the exhaust pipe. The video tutorial was definitely a plus! One thing I had to do that the video didn't show was to remove the cover on the tip of the exhaust pipe. I know not all models have one, but the sport models do. It's easy to remove by loosening the bolted on clamp. I didn't have to lift the rear of the Highlander up, either. There is plenty of room to get underneath the vehicle to work and do this (I'm a big guy). The hitch also has a plate welded onto it near the receiver so you can attach a mounting bracket for the wire harness if you want to run it to the outside of your vehicle. I used the mounting bracket (Item 18144) here: . It comes with locking screws and fits perfectly. Overall, this is a solid hitch that is priced well and looks great! I had thought about buying the OEM from Toyota, but I'm glad I didn't. This one is just as good (if not better) at only a quarter of the cost and I didn't have to pay anyone to install it. I will definitely be doing more business with etrailer.com! Great prices and customer service you can't beat! P.S. Sorry, but it was raining a little when I took the pics.

2010 Toyota Highlander

Bought the Draw-Tite trailer hits together with the Swagman XTC4 4-bike rack. Bought based on reviews on e-trailer and other sites that this is a sturdy and good-working combination for carrying 4 bikes.
* Delivery: Fast (<5 days)
* Packaging: Package had holes, which is not unusual as the box with the hitch has a lot of empty spaces. Others had same issue, but nothing to worry about. The hitch cannot really break easily and the hardware is safely stored in the 2inch receiver.
* Installation: Very nice video instructions on etrailer. Installation really can use two people, but it's fairly easy with two people. Had some problems with one of the nine screws to bite although I did a try run before mounting the hitch. Worked after some minutes of wiggling the hitch so that the screw got the correct angle to bite.
* Usage: Installed the day of delivery and used it the next day. It's the first time I used a trailer hitch and for sure the first time I used to carry 4 bikes. Stopped looking in the rear-view mirror after 1 minutes seeing that it's barely moving at all. So with a limited use so far I can confirm other's reviews of this combination and I think it works great. Recommended.

Finally, the hitch mount is installed on my 2013 Toyota Highlander, you would need 10mm, 14mm, and 16mm, and 6" socket extender. In the manual, it said you need, 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm. Installation was easy, only 9 bolts, two persons makes job easier but i did the installation by myself. It took one hour or less. The hitch fits my vehicle steel frame bolts patterns perfectly so no issue with the install.

2009 Toyota Highlander

Research has brought me to etrailer.com to find the best hitch for my vehicle. I own a 2009 toyota highlander which is the hybrid limited model. I choose this hitch particularly because of the added tongue weight. 750 or 500 lbs... you decide which is better. This hitch has extra mounting tabs, so it doesn't just mount to the bottom of the frame but also the sides of the frame. It took 2 days to receive and less time to install. 45 minutes with 2 people. Do note that if you
have mud guards than they must come off. I didn't remove the tail pipe to install, just man handled the hitch over it. Also, there is a tab on the back side of the facia in front of the exaust tip that has to go under the hitch. The bolts included with the hitch were a different size than what the manual says. They aren't 17mmm, they are 16mm. Overall the install went well so don't be intimidated by it if your not mechanicly inclinded. The wiring was really easy to install and as you can see in the picture I ran it through a hole in the body. I cut a small slit in the grommet and gently pushed the small end through so that any water won't come through. Worked like a charm. This was an aawesome experience!

2008 Toyota Highlander

Hitch fit perfectly to my 2008 Toyota Highlander, and installation was easy. The box was slightly damaged when it arrived (holes in the cardboard) and there were a few spots on the hitch where the paint had scratched. I let etrailer know and they gave me a $XX credit to purchase rust-resistant paint to touch up those spots.

by:

The Trailer Hitch came damaged in that the black covering on the square connector was partially torn off. I had given the hitch to my gas station who installed it but unfortunately did not inspect it before giving it for installation. They showed the damage after they had installed it. I guess I will have to live with it but not happy that it was damaged in transit.

by:
2009 Toyota Highlander

Installed with aid of the video. Hitch fit perfectly. My 19 inch spare tire fits like it should with no interference from the hitch. Paint was peeling on one of the arms that attach to the frame, I will go back and touch it up later. My highlander is a 2009 sport, original owner. I am 75 years old, so if I can install, you can too.

Packing was not good cardboard slip of paper & plastic. Hitch had paint scratched off on corners. Fit was fine after tightening underside bolts finally.

We do recommend using a Rust-Oleum paint to cover any scratches to prevent rust.

I think its great! Its sturdy looks good & was easy enough putting it on only after we placed all bolts on when it was loose & then tightened them. We used a floor jack to raise it up & keep in place. It was no problem fitting around my normal size spare tire.

by:
2013 Toyota Highlander

Had no trouble installing the hitch or wiring harness. The video helps a lot. Instead of having the lights connector lay in a tray I chose to use the plugged hole that was below the side tray and have the cable mounted outside the vehicle.

Toyota Highlander

After balking at the cost to have an auto-shop add a trailer to our Toyota Highlander, we found etrailer.com and decided to take a chance. The "how to" videos factored considerably in our decision to buy ... they made it look so easy! And surprise! It really -WAS- that easy. We used standard block-type ramps (the kind you can buy for $40 ) to get the SUV up off the ground high enough to get underneath to do the work. Everything came off as easy as it was showed in the videos. Other than the fact this bar is a heavy so we had our teen daughter help hold it steady while we bolted it into place (i.e., get help for when you go to lift it), it went super smooth. Thanks for saving us $280 over the cost the car dealer quoted us! P.S. - be sure to watch the linked videos so you get the right trailer lighting attachment and ball hitch for your new hitch.

Anna

We are very happy with our trailer hitch, and all the accoutrements that we purchased with it. Your videos were enormously helpful, the hitch went on easily with a bit of help from our teenage daughter to lift it up into place, and we recommend your business to friends when they express an interest in getting a camper.

by:
2011 Toyota Highlander

Excellent design and construction. The L-shaped brackets attaching to the frame are very sturdy. The fitup was good - I used a couple of jack stands and had no problem installing it by myself. Etrailer send two links for installation videos for the hitch and wiring harness. The videos were very clear and helpful. I generally ignore instructions, they quickly discovered with the wiring harness that it was not intuitive. I definitely recommend watching the videos before starting.

Products arrived quickly and in good condition, except that the box was broken open. Like other have commented, the hitch is not padded with bubble wrap, but who cares? It's a trailer hitch! It is designed for a lot worse treatment than UPS will deliver on its worst day ever.

I feel like I should do two reviews, one for etrailer.com, and one for the hitch itself. First, etrailer.com: the box came HEAVILY damaged, with the UPS driver even remarking that I should send it back. I called etrailer.com immediately and sent them pictures of the box. I then opened the box to find the hitch knicked in some places. I took pictures and sent those to etrailer.com as well. They were very prompt and professional in their responses and handling of the situation. We found an amenable solution and that took care of that. So, if could rare the packaging, that would be a 1, but their customer service definitely earns them a 4-5. Now, the hitch. I watched the install video about 3 times before tackling the installation. Got to say, with no lift and no additional help, pretty darn easy. Had to do some interesting positioning (holding one side up with my feet while pushing the hitch up and over the exhaust on the other side) to get the job done, but it went well. One minor issue that others mentioned is the misalignment of one bolt hole, but with a little muscle I was able to get the bolt in and tighten it. In all, took me about an hour, had I had a lift and an extra set of hands, easy 20 min. install. Looks great and so far works great.

Etrailer has everything one needs for most people to safely start towing by offering great products (hitches, wiring, draw bars, etc) as well as the information via document, video, and/or advisors to get the job done. I have purchased 2 trailer hitch receivers and wiring harnesses for my vehicles over the past few years and I have been very satisfied and I have saved money. I would definitely use etrailer again if I needed get towing with a different vehicle.

Our trailer hitch has worked out well. We do not do really heavy duty towing with it but I very much appreciate being to find a product that I can manage to fit my needs and also allows me to manage to save some money.

2012 Toyota Highlander

This is a nicely built hitch that fitted up to the car perfectly. My 16 year old grandson and I installed it in an hour with the car up on ramps and using only a few hand tools. Your installation video helped us know what we needed to do.

I do have one complaint but it's about the packaging and shipping, not the hitch. The UPS gorillas easily overcame the packaging (wrapped in heavy plastic and taped) and ground the hitch down to bare steel in several locations. This happened to the last hitch I bought from etrailer also. The packaging and shipping department needs to find a way to protect these things from the brutes at UPS. I touched it up heavily with rustoleum but expect the hitch will start to rust in a few years. Sigh. Once a powder coated steel object starts to rust at a penetration in the coating, the rust spreads under the powder coat and then the coating falls off in sheets. That is what happened to the previous hitch, it still works great but is an ugly rusty mess after ten years on the back of the car.

Bob P.

4/19/2019

Update a year later. The hitch has worked nicely. Mostly we tow a little utility trailer but now and then a big rental or borrowed trailer gets hooked up. No hassles with any load. The areas where the UPS goons damaged the finish are indeed starting to rust. Sigh. etrailer needs to find a better way of shipping or else find a way to protect their merchandise from their chosen shipper. Half these reviews talk about how the UPS brutes easily overcame the etrailer packaging and damaged the powder coating. Also - several folks commented about needing to the exhaust pipe a bit - you can avoid that by just removing the shiney metal exhast tip. Without the cosmentic tip in place, the hitch slides over the exhaust pipe just fine. Then reinstall the shiny tip. Less effort than taking down the exhaust pipe, in my opinion. Nice product!

The quality of this hitch is excellent. I selected this hitch because I didn't want to have to add a strap for the use of a bike rack or cargo rack. The instructional video was excellent to watch before attempting this installation. Overall the installation would normally be very easy, however one of the holes of my hitch was off about 1/32 of an inch. Just enough to make me have to take it off and grind out the hole a bit. Once I did that, it was very easy installation. Definitely a 2 man job to get the hitch in place until you get a couple bolts in. Unlike the video though, I only cut the driver side panel. The passenger side panel went in without modification. Despite one hole being off a tiny bit, I won't slight the product as I cant be certain if it was the car or the hitch that was off.

First time ordering at Etrailer.com but I have to give them 5 stars for customer follow up. Very pleased with the customer service.

  • Bolt Torque Specs for Installing Draw-Tite 72726 Class III Trailer Hitch on 2012 Toyota Highlander
On the product page for the Draw-Tite # 75726, on the right side of the page you'll see a link to the installation instructions. On page one of the instructions at the bottom of the page, you'll see the recommended torque ratings. Because the torque ratings can change over time, we don't publish them. That link pulls the instructions directly from Draw-Tite, so they're always the most up to date instructions available. I'll also link you to an install video showing the hitch being installed...

  • Trailer Hitch for 2 Inch Pro Series Cargo Carrier and 2012 Toyota Highlander
Pro Series cargo carrier # 63153 fits 2 inch trailer hitch receivers only. There are several 2 inch hitches available for your 2012 Toyota Highlander. The most popular that I recommend is Draw-Tite hitch # 75726. I have linked a video showing how the hitch installs. I have also linked a video showing the cargo carrier on a 2012 Toyota Highlander.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Toyota Highlander LTD
Yes, I have checked and the # 87452 is indeed a confirmed as a fit for your 2012 Toyota Highlander. To complete your towing set up you might also be interested in the # 118449 wiring. This will provide a 4 pin flat trailer wiring connector on your Highlander. Additionally, you may want to consider the # 989900 ball mount kit. This kit contains two ball mounts, that both offer a rise and drop depending on your installation needs, a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball, a 2-inch trailer ball, a pin...

  • Will a Trailer Hitch For a 1994 Ford Explorer Fit a 2009 Toyota Highlander
Unfortunately, there are no cross compatible trailer hitches that fit both a 1994 Ford Explorer and a 2009 Toyota Highlander. The Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch # 75726 will fit a 2009 Toyota Highlander. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. If you are planning on towing, I recommend the Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 118449 that you referenced. For a ball mount the Ball Mount Kit # 989900 is a solid choice. This kit includes 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8 inch ball, a 2...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2007 Toyota Highlander
Draw-Tite, the manufacturer of trailer hitch # 75726, lists it as a fit for 2008 to 2013 Toyota Highlanders so I cannot recommend it for a 2007 model. The Draw-Tite equivalent for the 2007 is # 75153. I have linked a video showing an example installation of this hitch for you. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver That Allows For Full Size Spare Tire On 2012 Toyota Highlander
For your 2012 Toyota Highlander with full size spare tire, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75726. If you look at the page for this product you will see in the pictures that a full size spare tire is a fit with this hitch installed. Hidden hitches have been discontinued as a brand. If you will be using this hitch for towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449 for...

  • Trailer Hitch & Hitch Lock for 2012 Toyota Highlander
All available 2-inch Class III trailer hitches for your 2012 Toyota Highlander are shown on the linked page. These include options from Curt, Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch. Some of these hitches will work with a full-size spare tire, such as the Draw-Tite # 75726 and the Curt # 13534. All hitches will require removal of the tow hooks. You can lock a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory carrier (like a bike rack) to these hitches by adding a hitch lock # e98881.

  • Trailer Hitch and 4 Bike Hanging Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Toyota Highlander
If you want to carry 4 bikes I definitely recommend going with Class III trailer hitch because of its higher capacity and plethora of accessory options. The Draw-Tite hitch, # 75586, would be my first choice but # 75726 is less visible since the bracket goes over the exhaust rather than under it. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. For a bike rack, I believe I have the perfect rack for you. Take a look at the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Swing...

  • What are the Torque Ratings for a Hitch Installed on a 2008 Toyota Highlander
Though it will depend on the hitch you have installed, all of the M10 bolts for the Draw-Tite # 75726 and 75586 should be torqued to 42 lb-ft. The Curt # 13534, which also uses M10 bolts, should be torqued to 48 lb-ft. If you installed an EcoHitch, like # 306-X7137, the M10 bolts should be torqued to 60 lb-ft. This should be checked every now and then to make sure everything is secure. I generally recommend doing so at the beginning and end of the towing season.
