Good news! I can help you pick out the correct hitch and wiring for your 2008 Toyota Highlander that will be compatible with your LED trailer lights.

The trailer hitch that I recommend for your 2008 Toyota Highlander is the # 75726, because of the higher weight capacity and the fact that you will still be able to store your spare tire under the vehicle. This trailer hitch has a 2 inch receiver opening which will be compatible with more accessories.

The wiring harness you will want is the Curt # 56042, this connector plugs directly into OEM tow package port so no cutting, splicing or tapping required. A powered converter module is required to safeguard the vehicle's wiring and to provide enough power for the trailer lights. which your vehicle has under the dash since you have the factory tow package. LED lights will draw very little power compared to incandescent lights.

If you don't have the factory tow package then you will want to go with the Tow Ready harness # 118449, because it has a converter you will need built into it.

Since your going to tow with this hitch something else you may need is a ball mount and ball, we have an etrailer.com kit with 2 sized ball mounts and 2 size balls to fit your needs # 989900, it even includes a handy carrying case.

I have linked an installation video of the hitch and non-tow packaged wiring harness for your convenience.
