Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Installed on '93 Honda Pilot in 1 1/2 hours while installing new Tow Ready 4- Flat Universal Mounting Bracket (118149) and Tow Ready One Connector wiring harness (118336). Easy install, did not have any trouble cleaning out those previously unused bolt holes on the right side, used wire brush and penetrating lube. Installed tow bar supported on top of grand kids red wagon with side rails, no extra hands required. Did not have to lower exhaust, only removed tow hook from left side. Fits snugly with good clearance from frame and muffler. Tow bar can barely be seen except for receiver.

I installed the hitch on a 2005 Acura MDX. Was easy, and with another set of hands a breeze to install. The quality of the hitch is great, and my experience with other Draw-Tite hitches in the past has been terrific. This is the fourth hitch I have ordered from Etrailer, and each time has been a pleasure. Their selection, ease of website, and great customer service keeps me coming back.
My next project is a 2012 CX7. I'll be in touch soon!

Thanks Again,

Frank, I have a 2006 MDX. Did you have to modify the bumper trim kit in any way for the receiver?

Patrick B.

There is a under-vehicle fascia piece that has to be removed for the hitch to be installed. You do not have to cut or modify it though, so if you ever want to remove the hitch, it can be re-installed. Check out the video I linked to, the 2:20 mark or so.

Excellent Product. Installation was so simple product could be renamed Draw-Tite's Easy-Fit hitch. Etrailer.com installation video was also excellent. The Installation Team (Me [67 years] & Wife {64 years]) reported absolutely no problems during installation. Highly recommend both Etrailer.com website and Draw-Tite trailer hitch. Post-installation photo attached (just before cranking spare back up into place and tools cleanup). Hitch wiring was subsequently installed, also with no problems. Etrailer.com installation video for that was also excellent.

Arrived the day after I ordered it, my son installed it for me without any problems. I purchased to use with a bike hitch to carry grandkids bikes.

Easy order process, great price and great product.
I'm much slower than the other guys in terms of time to install. Took me about 4 hrs, with no helper. Time was significantly extended by having to clean up the 3 threaded bolt holes on the passenger side. Had to rent tool from Auto Zone, and still took a lot of PB Blaster, wire brushing to even get the clean up tool to start into the lead in threads. Then was like 1 - 2 turns, back it out, and repeat.... for all three holes. ~2 hrs later, all the bolt holes were clean and easily accepted the new bolts.
Other than that, no real issues.
Great instructional videos for Receiver and Wire kit.
This is my second purchase from ETrailer, and will def be my online go-to site for all my trailer needs.

Pontiac Trans Sport Van

I purchased the receiver for a friend that wanted to be able to minimize hauling everything inside and be able to transport a luggage carrier and bike rack when needed. She was very surprised at how easy it was to install. From online ordering to installation the process was very user friendly. Quality product and great service.

by:

Love the hitch! It went on relatively easily and looks great installed.

Not a hitch issue, per se, but I realized later I should have dropped the spare to make the install easier, since the spare appears pinched between the hitch and the rear body now that I cranked down all the bolts.

Also, install time was lengthened due to rusting of the uncovered threads on the muffler side of the vehicle. I used wd-40, the old bolts, and a lot of patience to make the threads useable from 4+ years of disuse. Someone recommended using a tap-kit to "freshen up" the threads. I would have gotten the proper tap if I hadn't done the install at night. Again, this is a vehicle problem, not a hitch kit problem.

Heh. We also learned that hitch covers get stolen, so we'll be ordering locking hitch receiver cover next time.

Perfect fit, easy installation, great price, outstanding quality, excellent service! Ordered for a for a 2007 Honda Pilot on Sunday afternoon and delivered on Wednesday. Thanks for the easy and professional transaction.

Very high quality product, arrived in excellent condition. Very easy
to install with the video online was helpful, I didn't lower the muffler
as the instruction said. From the time to open the box and completed the installation is 33 mins, I did used the jack to support the center of the trailer hitch to make installation much easy for myself. Now it's look fantastic love black gloss and it's made in "USA", Etrailer, you guys "ROCK"....

Honda Pilot

The service from etrailer in ordering my hitch was excellent. Had a few questions and they answered every one clearly. It was delivered earlier than expected.

Some folks wrote about problems with the install. I found it extremely easy on my Honda Pilot. I used the box it came in to support the other end while bolting up the first.

Even the wiring harness that folks had fits with was quick and to the point. The unit is solid and easy to use. I gave it only a 4 because I'm sure there must be better, stronger hitches on the market, but for the money, the etrailer hitch was a great buy. I've ordered from them again since and would recommend them to my friends and enemies.

Thanks etrailer for a great product and great service.

I am very happy with the 75599 trailer hitch. I installed it on my Honda Pilot. It went on very easy, It took less then an hour. Only had to remove one hanger for the muffler. Only problem I encounter was over tightening and snapping were you screw into the frame. Make sure to follow and use the torque measurements. Would definitely recommend it for any one looking to add item. I was able to purchase and pull a boat home the same day.. Very happy. I also purchased the quick connect trailer lights kit. That couldn't have gone any easier also. You tube videos helped along the way.

This is the second hitch I have purchased from e trailer. The hitch arrived on time and the installation directions were straight forward and thorough. The hitch was easy to install and is an excellent hitch. Although I did not have anyone available to help me, I was able to install the hitch in about 30 minutes (I am 72). The previous hitch was for my Toyota pickup and was also easy to install and an excellent hitch.
I have also purchased two wiring harness and they are easy to install and an excellent product.
Thank you for your great products, videos and service

2010 Honda Pilot

Installed on a 2003 Honda Pilot. The hitch was delivered in 3 days from the purchase date. It was received in perfect condition. This is the third hitch I have installed on different vehicles over the past couple years and it was by far the easiest installation yet. It took me longer to clean out the bolt holes than it did to install the hitch itself. I removed the tow hook from the left side so the bolt holes were in good condition. It took me about an hour to clean out the 3 bolt holes on the right side. Tip - I sprayed the holes with liquid wrench and used a 20 gauge shotgun cleaning brush in a cordless drill to clean out the holes. I wire brushed the bolts I removed from the left side tow hook and used them to run in a little bit and then removed. Cleaned the bolts and the hole again with liquid wrench and wire brush. Repeated process several times until I could get the bolts to go all the way in using a ratchet. Once the bolt holes were clean, it took about 10 minutes to complete installation. Note I did not have to drop the exhaust, it easily slid by the muffler. This is a great hitch! I would highly recommend both the hitch and purchasing it from etrailer.

Bret B.

Yes I am still completely satisfied with both the hitch and wiring harness.

Great and solid! Delivery was SO FAST TOO.
Dude
at etrailer wrapped it up on a Sunday night!?!? I got a shipped email like 3 hrs after purchase! Bam! Very pleased to get it 2 days later especially with free shipping. Kudos to etrailer!

A side note: the bolt holes on honda pilot on the passenger side were open from the factory, the driver side has a tow hook with bolts in it. The driver side was fairly easy to attach however the swelling of holes on the passenger side i had to gently TAP for threads to go. Just FYI may be a slight pain depending on year or condition of the frame on your vehicle.

That being said over all i am very pleased with the seller and the installation and build of this hitch. Hope this is helpful.

Neil H.

  • How Do Hitch Extenders Affect Tongue Weight Ratings
We don't carry the bike rack you referenced, but if the extender installs onto the rack as a solid piece then no, your tongue weight rating would not be affected. If its just a tube that slides into your hitch and then the rack installs into that loosely you would lose 50 percent of your tongue weigh rating. For more information on hitch extenders check out the FAQ article I attached on them.

  • Using Draw-Tite Class III Receiver Hitch, Part # 75599 to Carry Bike Rack on 2003 Honda Pilot
I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Receiver Hitch, part # 75599. This hitch would be perfect for carrying a bike rack, as well as other accessories such as a cargo carrier. If you decide in the future that you want to tow a trailer, the Class III receiver will allow you to make full use of your vehicles towing ability. The install is not too difficult, if you have reasonable mechanical ability, you should be able to install it in an hour or less.

  • If a Vehicle Requires Weight Distribution To Tow a Certain Weight Is the System Required for Towing
If your trailer weighs enough that your tow vehicle requires the use of a weight distribution system when towing then yes, you would have to connect the system and disconnect it every time you decide to tow. Installing a weight distribution system initially is a bit more involved that just hitching up the trailer. But once it is set up properly the only additional steps would be that you need to connect the spring bars. Which this does add time to the process, but it's really not that...

A lot of the time the problem isn't that the hitch can't handle the WD system it's that the vehicle's attachment points can't handle the added stress. The spring bars of a system take and apply the tongue weight of the trailer and transfer it through the hitch and vehicle back up to the front axle.
