So far excellent hitch. Nice quality zinc plated and beefy hardware. My only gripe is i had to shave down some of the hardware to get it installed on my particular model car. 2015 audi a3 tdi. Otherwise fit is perfect and looks good!

Still a solid hitch. As with anything that’s being jolted around under heavy loads I do recommend rechecking the torque after a few uses to make sure everything stays tight. After the checking and having to torque down some more it’s been good.

2105 Audi A3 Sedan. Installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 1-1/4". Had to drill out the front hole closer to the front of the car in the frame with a 1 1/3" step drill bit $12 to get the bolt and flat washer through the front hole. Only got 2 fish wires in package, so may (recommend) need to buy 2 more for the 7/16" bolt. Fish wiring takes a bit to get used to and don't loose the bolt in the frame(. Make sure the fish wire is really tightly screwed onto the bolt. Also bought the Yakima RidgeBack 2 Bike Rack 1-1/4" Tilting from etailer and as the picture shows it fits and looks great in the hitch.

Audi Parts has a nice 1 1/4" hitch cover with the 4 rings.

Thanks etrailer

No problem with the hitch. I followed the online recommendation and received the correct hitch. Upon attempted install of the hitch, the mounting bolts could not be fished through the frame access holes. The bolt heads were too large. Upon calling customer service, I was informed that this occurs sometimes but offered no other recourse. Nowhere does it say on the website or in the installation instructions that there might need to be some drilling or reaming, as Joe B. and Don had to do per their reviews. Just the opposite, the website states no grinding or drilling. The website needs to update this to reflect the possibility of having to take the hitch to an installer if you're not comfortable with grinding and drilling. I don't have jacks nor do I want to buy a step drill bit to make the holes larger. The whole idea was to buy the hitch and mount it without extra work. Had I known this, I would have just taken the car somewhere and had it installed instead of losing time.

Sometimes it is necessary to file to enlarge access holes in order to get the hardware through.

We are happy to review this company. Despite the so called shipping delays, we did not experience this with E trailer. The service was easy and efficient.

Great, it was easy to install and the fit was perfect.

Holes don't line up on Audi A3
A 30
minutes install turn into 1 1/2 hour!
Not what I would call precision craftsmanship.
If you have an Audi A3, do yourself a favor and buy something else.
3rd Curt I install and this one is a MAJOR TURN OFF!

We found that when we installed on a 2019 Audi A3 that once the hardware was fish wired into place that the holes were slightly off so we used a die grinder to enlarge the holes on the frame enough to install. You can see that at time stamp 3:49 in the video install below.

The hitch works great for our use (occaisional bike rack duty).
I happy to report it still looks new even after (1) New England winter.

After 2 New England winters I took a few minutes to scotch brite and touch up to look brand new. Only minor surface rust but wanted to keep it protected and looking new.

The hitch is perfect! Installation was pretty simple and who would’ve known there was a hitch for my Audi car. I thought I would never be able to carry my bikes as I wouldn’t put them on my roof or the trunk. Customer service was fabulous at helping answer all my questions. Cost was cheaper than a local camping trailer/hitch shop. Will definitely look to them again for my next purchase!

Hitch was a pain to install (would have been much easier with the car on a lift) but I knew going in it wouldn't be easy. The directions were good and I got it done. Hitch has worked perfectly for my wife's Audi A3 - we use it to attach a 1Up bike rack to it and it is rock solid. Worth a few hours of work to save several hundred bucks if I had it installed somewhere.

2010 GMC Jimmy

Overall - very satisfied. Over the last 10 years and 3 cars, this is my third hitch from etrailer and so far the easiest. The product was simple and easy to install. Spot on with the instructions and all the parts. Had to jimmy with getting the bolts in one side of the frame but no cutting or grinding required. Fit is very good - I'd like about 1/4 to 3/8 more rearward travel - but it does work with my old bike mount. Packaging was good - maybe a few less staples would still work. The Curt receive is built like a brick house with very clean welds and a nice finish.

2017 Audi A3

I needed a hitch to carry my bike rack for my Audi A3. The etrailer website made that easy. The site is easy to use, showed the two models that are made for my car, described the differences. I ordered it on line and got a confirmation of my order, then later the same day was informed it that already shipped. It arrived very well packaged.
While it says no drilling needed, I found the heads of the bolts would not quite fit through the access hole. I think due to undercoating of the car, so had to "ream" it out a bit. The products it great, looks great and performs perfect.

by:

Great hitch. Fits my 2015 S3.

by:

Of course it took me twice as long to install
As
I expected, but I was able to do it without help. I love my hitch, it is almost invisible when looking at the car, and works perfectly.

by:

Excellent instructions on the install and a great fit very happy with the purchase

by:

Fantastic service, great shipping! Haven’t used the actual hitch yet, but the company is great.

by:

Simply said as Fantastic. Order received as promised. The install instruction videos were great.

by:

Great hitch, used it for over a year. I pull a jet ski with it and it never gave me any issues

  • Trailer Hitch Recommended for 2018 Audi A3 Hatchback
As long as your 2018 Audi A3 Curt # C11399 you'd looked at because its not recessed as far under the vehicle, which makes it easier to find compatible hitch mounted accessories like bike racks. In order for a hitch mounted accessory to be compatible with this hitch, it must have a shank on it that measures longer than 6-1/2 inches, measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest upright portion of the hitch accessory. If your accessory has a shorter shank than that, the upright...

  • Can Curt Hitches C11174 and C11399 Carry 150 lbs Worth of Bike Rack and Bikes
Both the Curt hitches you referenced part numbers # C11174 and # C11399 have a 200 lb tongue weight capacity so they would work well with a bike rack setup that weighs 150 lbs with the Saris Freedom Superclamp EX part # SA4025F. You still have to use the stabilizer strap like part # 18050 since these racks are non-supported loads. One strap would be all that's necessary.

  • Towing a Jet Ski Trailer with a 2015 Audi a3
Yes you are correct that we only carry Class I hitches for this vehicle because Class II hitches are generally too heavy duty for towing with vehicles like your 2015 Audi A3. One point to check first would be the weight of the jet ski and trailer. A jet ski could weigh between 450-1100lbs and a trailer an additional 250lbs or more. I looked up the maximum trailer weight in the owners manual that let me know a trailer for your vehicle is limited to a typical Class 1 or Class 2 trailer....

  • Best Hitch and E-Bike Rack for 2018 Audi A3
The hitch I suggest for your 2018 Audi A3 is the Curt # C11399. • Is Lift Needed to Install Curt Hitch on 2017 Audi A3 or Drop Exhaust or Bumper Fascia
I checked with Curt and to install the hitch part # C11399 on a vehicle like your 2017 Audi A3 it is not required that you jack up the rear of the vehicle. There's enough clearance at the rear of the vehicle. Nothing gets removed from the vehicle to install the hitch either like the rear bumper or exhaust. Thankfully the hitch just raises into position without interference. The only think you will have to do is enlarge some existing holes by drilling, filing, or using a rotary tool.
