Which Strait Line System Is Appropriate for a 10,000lb GVWR Trailer

Question:

The trailer Im looking at purchasing has the following specs: Dry hitch weight is 931 Lbs, Dry gross weight is 7200 Lbs, GVWR is 10,000 Lbs. The Straight Line offers and 800 and 1200 TW model. Assuming I will load cargo in the front compartment of the trailer, this would of course up the TW to say 1031 Lbs or more. Which Strait LIne hitch would be more suited for this trailer for best performance?

The 1200 tongue weight Strait Line weight distribution system # RP66074 would definitely be the better choice over the 800 pound system, especially if the dry tongue weight is already at 931 pounds.

I would actually suggest you go with a heavier duty setup like the 1500 pound tongue weight system, part # RP66130, if your loaded tongue weight is going to end up around 1031 pounds.

You are also going to need a weight distribution shank and hitch ball. Shank # RP54970 is commonly used with this system, but if you need a shank with a different rise or drop I have included a link to all the shanks we offer.

If you need a 2 inch ball, you can use part # 63018, or if you need a 2-5/16 inch ball, you could use part # 19286.
