This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 6 stacked 2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 6 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (1,100 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 400 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - 10K Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount - GY26FR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount with Stacked Receivers. And this is an adjustable ball mount that's going to allow you to hook your trailer up to your tow vehicle. And this will slide right into your 2 and a half inch by 2 and a half inch trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle. The hitch pin and clip are not included. It's gonna take your standard 5/8 inch diameter pin so you probably already have one for your hitch.

But if you don't, we do have options available here at etrailer.com. We also have locking pins, if you want to add a little extra security, make sure no one's gonna be able to take off with your Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount when you're not around. So that's the vehicle side and then on our trailer side, we are gonna have three different ways of connecting the trailer. So you've got your 2 ball, your 2-inch ball, your 2 and 5/16 inch ball or a ball paired with your pintle lock that's gonna provide three different ways of connecting to trailers. So if you are gonna be towing different kinds of trailers, trailers with different couplers, this is gonna give you lots of options there.

This will accommodate an inch and a half or smaller lunette rings. So several different ways to get hooked up to your trailer. So gives you lots of versatility there. This is a nice heavy-duty steel construction. It is going to give us a gross towing weight of 10,000 pounds and a tongue weight range of between 400 and 1,100 pounds.

The reason for that range is because of our torsion shock absorbing functionality here. So you wanna make sure that you have at least 400 pounds for this system to engage properly and start to absorb that road shock. If you have more than the 1,100 pounds, it's going to overtax the system and you're not really gonna get that shock absorbing capability. So to help you with that and make sure that you're within that range and they do include this tongue weight scale here. So you can see we've got red, green, and red on that sticker, and then we have this white line.

So once you have your trailer hooked up and loaded and you wanna make sure that that white line is aligned with that green portion of the sticker, and then you'll know you're within that optimal tongue weight range. So it's nice that they include that to make it easier for us to make sure that we're gonna get the most out of our shock absorbing capabilities. So the way this works, if you're not familiar with the torsion concept. At each of our pivot points here, we are gonna have a square inner bar here and then rubber cords on each corner. And so as we're experiencing any road shock, going down the road, hit big potholes and that sort of thing, that inner bar is going to twist and those rubber bands are going to absorb that shock so that it's not transferred from our trailer back to our vehicle and vice versa. So it is gonna be very effective for us and giving us a nice, smooth ride. So it's gonna take less toll on our equipment. It also is going to have fewer moving parts than some other shock, shock absorbing keep, shock absorbing options on the market. So that's fewer things that will need to be replaced or repaired. This is also going to be a lot easier to maintain. You can see we've got these grease zerks here on the sides. So rather than having an airbag that you're gonna have to add air to and take air out of, this is gonna be a much simpler solution for you. And then up here, you can see, we do have the six stacked 2-inch by 2-inch receivers that are going to allow us to accommodate our ball mount and pintle lock but it will also work with your other 2-inch hitch mounted accessories. They do include two of these 5/8 diameter pins to hold our accessories in place. And the benefit of having our stacked receivers is that it's going to allow us to just keep this installed on our vehicle. And then we can adjust our ball mount to the different receivers to accommodate different height trailers. So again, if you are gonna be hauling or towing lots of different kinds of trailers, you wanna make sure that they're gonna be level. So this will give you a quick, easy way of getting that set up so that you're gonna be towing nice and level. So when we have this in the rise position, like we do here, from the top inside edge of our receiver tube to the max setting, where that coupler would sit on the ball, it's gonna give us a max rise of 10 inches and then we can flip this over, use it in the drop position. And then down to the lowest setting where that coupler would sit would be a max drop of 10 inches. So if your trailers sit up to 10 inches higher than your hitch or 10 inches lower than your hitch that will still accommodate that so that you can make sure everything's gonna be nice and level. This does have this zinc primer and powder coat finish that's gonna help this resist corrosion. So it is gonna hold up well for you. Our ball and pintle lock both have matte black finish. They look really nice. And again, they're gonna hold up well for you for a long time to come. This is SAE J684 certified so you can trust it meets those quality standards and it is made here in the USA. So you can trust it is gonna be well built. Will hold up well, do a good job for you. Gen-Y does have a great reputation for building very robust, solid products and this is no exception. It is a pretty beefy option. So it will be nice to be able to just have that installed on your vehicle and move that ball mount to accommodate those trailers rather than having to take it off and back on, but being so beefy, you can trust it is gonna hold up well, give you a lot of strength and durability. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Great communication and fast shipping. Thanks

Towed my tractor yesterday with this for the first time. No more BANG!! when driving bumpy roads. Just floats along and makes for more relaxed towing. Very heavy duty and easy to adjust.

by:

very well packaged for such a heavy item. cant wait to use the product

I just received the hitch and installed it but have not had a chance to pull with it. It appears to be very well made and is a heavy hitch at 118lbs. I have a 45ft coach and pull a 16k stacker trailer so will see how it does. Will update in a couple of weeks.

by:

This hitch is amazing!!! Be prepared though it is very heavy! I love how easy it is to adjust to different heights and ball sizes with the 2 common sizes provided. The scale on the back can be helpful to let you know if you have the proper trailer weight. The more you use it the more you will like it!

by:

I pull a 22k stacker trailer with about 3000lb of tongue weight with a class A pusher with a custom receiver hitch that I had built for it. Decided to try the gen y after talking with someone else who swore by it. After driving cross country I can say it improved the ride quality dramatically. Worth every penny

by:

Love the height adjustment for all 3 of my trailers suuper solid, I get compliments all the time when people see it "wow that things stout!" Keeps the trailer tongue from excessive bobbing, the pins it came with are a huge improvement from the standard Bobby pin style I was used to. Over all I do not regret a dollar spent and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an initial purchase or upgrade their tow life

by:

THis is our second Boss hitch they are wonderful and function just as designed to smooth out the impacts between the truck and rig. Had a slight issue with the first delivery but E-Trailer replaced it no questions asked and two days later the new one showed up and the UPS driver took away the first. Great customer service which is very rare these dasys.

by:

Extremely well built and pulls the trailer amazingly but is extremely heavy

by:

I did my research before ordering. I know exactly what I need and want. My boat trailer tongue weight is 750lbs so I went with the Gen-Y Torsion Flex 2" Hitch - 7.5" Drop/Rise 10k. (Works Best with 400-1,000lbs tongue weight). Also got the BEST price due to their 110% Price Match Guarantee.

by:

Hugh difference pulling my 24ft bumper pull deck over. Ride is much smoother with a lot less energy transfer between truck and trailer.

by:

I love this heavy duty--emphasis on HEAVY--hitch! I barely felt my trailer on my truck while driving it was so smooth! The only drawback is how heavy it is... It is a bit of a feat for me to lift and insert then remove this hitch at the end of a race weekend--but I feel it is well worth it!

by:

It was well packaged shipping was great received it within a week installation was easy weighing only 73 pounds. It does affect the center back up sensors on a 2022 , 3500 long bed ram pick up.

by:

After using this for 100 miles, I ordered another one for my other truck. Heavy and well built, you might not want to take it on and off frequently. Definitely makes towing more comfortable, not in the cab but for the trailer and its' cargo, too. I highly recommend this for anyone pulling a trailer.

by:

Perfect, my second GenY Torsion hitch. Upgrading to the 21K from the 16K. There's not even a close second.

by:

Having the built in tongue weight indicator is a true benefit. The torsion movement of the receiver absorbs harsh hi-way road conditions.
I had no problems pulling 10,000 plus miles, with trailers weighting #8,000 to #1000. Would highly recommend this receiver.

by:

Fantastic heavy duty hitch.

by:

I have yet to tow with this hitch because I just received it today. Upon receiving the box I knew this hitch was not for the faint of heart. It felt like a massive hitch weighing in at 118lbs. Taking it out of the box I could see that this hitch is built like a beast and will likely be more hitch than I will ever need, but I needed a drop hitch and after asking etrailer questions and doing my own extensive research, I decided this was the hitch I should buy. I like the fact that it will give a little more space between the trailer and the truck, it can be used as a pintle setup if the need arises, and it comes with two ball sizes. Using this for my enclosed landscape trailer I am hoping it extends the life of tires and suspension components. I will try and update in the future after towing with this hitch.

by:

Heavy duty hitch for sure, can’t wait to start using it. Customer service was excellent, very fast shipping.

by:

The hitch works great and helps to smooth out the ride when towing heavy loads.

by:

Best hitch iv come across makes a world of a difference

by:

Great hitch, I have worked it pretty hard, and had no issues so far.

by:

Haven't used it yet, but it sure looks very promising for my 21000lb trailer.
Like the fact that it's torsion, has weight reader (safe or unsafe) and it also extends my trailer far enough from tailgate to where it doesn't hit it.

by:

I've several trips lately that involved towing, used a friend of mine's 21K torsion and loved it so, I bought my own. Mine is a 16K but plenty of beef for what I tow. Thank you again, made in America and was delivered extremely quick. Best product I've ever seen for towing especially bumper pull. I'm telling all my friends who have trucks and bumper pull.

  • Can I Tow a Small Trailer with 10K Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount
If the trailer you're towing is outside the 400 lb - 1,100 lb tongue weight range of the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # GY26FR then it basically renders the torsion system useless. If it's under that 400 lb mark you'll be fine as the ball mount will essentially operate like a fixed ball mount. I do recommend picking up the InfiniteRule Lock Set # 34061651-D so you can lock all of the pin parts of this ball mount to your hitch receiver. Attached are some review videos...
