Distance between hitch pin holes and receiver mount pin holes

This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 6 stacked 2" receivers that can accept almost any hitch-mounted accessory. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 6 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 6 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. Insert a bike rack or cargo carrier. Mount a spare tire carrier. Use a tow bar to flat tow your vehicle. Or just add a fun hitch cover. This heavy-duty mount is built with a 1,700-lb tongue weight, so you can even use multiple hitch accessories at the same time, as long as there are no clearance issues. This means that you can use your hitch-mounted bike rack to haul your bikes while also flat towing your vehicle.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (1,700 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,200 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Adjustable Ball Mount - 325-GH-1226

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Gen-Y Torsion two-ball mount with the stacked receivers for a two inch hitch. Has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this is an adjustable ball mount. This'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle.

The solid shank right here is what'll slide into your two inch hitch receiver that's on your vehicle. And up front, you'll have a choice of either a 2 5/16 diameter ball, or if you flip it over, a two inch diameter ball. These will provide the connection points for your trailer coupler. Now, also on this part, what's nice is it includes this pintle lock accessory. And when this is paired with the larger 2 5/16 ball, it'll provide a connection point for your lunette ring coupler.

And a lunette ring coupler is used on a lot of heavy-duty trailers. It's just a large ring on the front and it's designed to drop over the ball to make the connection. And what's nice is this pintle lock will slide over it to keep that lunette ring over the ball, keep it from disconnecting. I did wanna pop up in insert just to show you. There's an example of a lunette ring coupler that's on this ball and you can see the pintle lock over it, holding it in place.

And the way you would operate that to make your connection is just go ahead and pull your clip, pull your pin, slide that out of the way. Then go ahead and drop your lunette ring coupler over the ball. Once it drops over there, then just slide this out over the lunette ring. Line up your hole, slide your pin through, put in your clip and that'll lock it into place. And again, it keeps that lunette ring from coming off the ball.

Now, if you're not using it with a lunette ring coupler, you can use it with just a regular trailer coupler. What you can do is slide this back out of the way and then store it in the shank. There's another hole you can put this pin through and clip it, and that'll hold it in the stowed position. Now, you can use it with a regular trailer coupler. Now, the capacity on this ball mount will be determined by the ball size you use. So, if you use the larger 2 5/16 diameter ball, gross towing weight capacity is 16,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight of 1,700 pounds. If you flip this over and use the two inch diameter ball, gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds. If you notice, it does have the six stacked two inch receivers. This will accept the included ball mount and pintle lock as well as other hitch mounted accessories. Does come with two of these 5/8 inch diameter stainless steel pins and clips. These are included to secure the ball mount to the shank. The pintle lock to the shank. And one of the neat features on this I wanted to mention was this twist clip design they use on the pin. What's nice about that, it makes it so much easier than your standard clips where they have just the straight pins on them. You try to push it in, it's hard to do, and try to take it out, it's hard. This one with the twist design, you can see when you go to remove it, you just twist it and it comes right out. Slide your pin out. And then when you go to install it the same way, you just put that on the hole, push it and it'll twist right into place. Very easy to install or remove. Now, this does offer you adjustable height. This will let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. Works well if you have a lifted truck. The ball mount right here can be raised or lowered to match your application. Now, if you do put this ball mount in the lowest position like it is now in the drop position, the maximum drop it'll give you is 10 inches. If you flip the shank over in the rise position, put this in the highest maximum rise position, it'll get you a 10 inch rise. And just to show you, if you wanna flip this over and use the different sized ball, again, what you can do is take your clip, go ahead and remove your clip. Slide out your pin. That'll release the ball mount. Slide your two-ball mount, flip it over. Wanna use the smaller one. And again, you could put it in whatever receiver opening you want. I'm just gonna put it right back in the same spot. Slide it into place. Put your pin all the way through. And again, go ahead and clip it. And there you go. Now, you're in the position to use the smaller two inch ball. And again, you can put it in whatever height you want. Now, this does use a shock absorbing design. Ensures a nice, smooth, steady ride. The technology right here and down here functions like a torsion axle. Limits the transfer of any road shock from the trailer to the vehicle and vice versa. And what's nice about this, there's no airbags to maintain and it has fewer moving parts to repair or replace than with some of the other shock-absorbing solutions that are out there. Also, a nice, unique feature on this, gonna zoom in on that. But if you notice here on one of the arms, it has this tongue weight scale that's built in to help you balance your trailer. Basically, the built-in mechanical tongue weight scale will let you know if your load needs to be adjusted even before you tow. If you notice, at the top, there's a small red area. That smaller red area indicates minimum tongue weight, which is zero pounds. If you look at the bottom, you see the larger red area. That larger red area indicates the maximum tongue weight, which on this is 1,700 pounds. So, what you want is this white indicator line here in that green area. That green area is the ideal working tongue weight. It's 1,000 to 1,700 pounds. So, that's where you want that mark to be. This is a nice, heavy-duty steel construction. Has a nice, zinc primer and a powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. Now, when you do install this into your hitch, does require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock for securing that hitch receiver. Those items are not included. We do sell those separately on our website. And these hitch pin hole diameters are 5/8 of an inch. This is SAE J684 certified. It is made in the USA. Application, again, we mentioned is two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. And one last thing I do wanna mention is this ball mount has many different dimensions to it. So, I will recommend for you to go to the product page of this part number and you can verify any dimension that you might need for your application. We do have a picture of this on the product page with all the dimensions put on it. But that should do it for the review on the Gen-Y Torsion two-ball mount with the stacked receivers for a two inch hitch. Has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

Great product, fast shipping

The order process was smooth. But, when trying to find out about the the lifetime warranty offered by Gen Y on the rubber components in the hitch Nicole could not answer my question.

I asked if I was able to purchase through you and if not could I purchase from Gen Y even though I bought the hitch from you.

This is something customer service should know the answer too.
You would have gotten five stars but it was ruined by lack of knowledge by your staff.

by:

anyways thus far it's a #5 I haven't really used it but I will sooner than later. Your hitch is on this bad boy!! Thank you for considering my 2020 Ford Velocity Blue F350 Lariat Special addition!!!

by:

Awesome hitch, the tongue weight scale is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen on a product with this price point- a sticker that was peeling up when I received it and a little white paint mark that wiped away when I used an alcohol wipe to clean it before covering with super glue to try and make it hold up past the first rain event. Come on Gen Y your engineers can surely come up with something better that will actually last for years. You got the hitch down, now just focus on the details.

First impression massive, heavy Built Stout. My truck is always hooked to a trailer so I figured I would try a nicer set up I was using the B&W which is great for the average Joe that just needs to pull a trailer every now and then but this is a whole new world first trailer I pulled with It I could feel the difference right away it was smoother the vibrations and harsh thump feelings that I would normally get when pulling the trailers when I hit rough roads or bumps was not as bad or gone. It definitely made a huge difference super easy to move height if needed and an added bonus I didn’t think of is that it pushes the trailer back further so you can get a little tighter turning when backing up if needed and i can open the tailgate and it won’t hit the jack on the trailer. On top of that when people see it it’s a conversation starter There are not many of these out there so they are intrigued by the size and how it works. Bottom line in my opinion if you’re towing all the time it is worth the investment. I would invest in another.

by:

It is a strong hitch. If you leave it in your receiver plan on it rusting even with the coating that it has on it. The coating on the ball with most cases need to be scraped off before your hitch will even fit over it so that will rust right away as they normally do. Was hoping the rest of it would look a little better after one year.

by:

Solid 6” drop hitch that is extremely heavy but well made. Very smooth with bigger loads. Required some modification to my Fab Four bumper for proper fit. I gave it four stars because my hitch didn’t have the set screw option as advertised.

03 Duramax 2500hd with six inch lift, 35” tires
16000lb Curtis receiver (well made five stars)

by:

Would definitely order parts from your company again...thank you

by:

Built like a brick s@%thouse. Works great! Keep in mind I use this for pulling same trailer loaded same way every day. I could figure out optimal hitch weight and keep it there

by:

Worth the money if you are pulling heavy loads.fit and finish it top quality.

by:

Quality product. Very Robust. I bought this hoping to dampen some of the shock my truck, which is about 15,000 lbs, transmits to my boat, which is about 8500 lbs, thinking it may help with the boat's longevity. It helps with big shocks for sure, but the hitch needs to be in the top 2/3rds of its rated capacity to noticeably dampen the shock between your trailer and tow rig. It works wonders on my loaded dump trailer.

by:

This thing is built like a tank. I have towed a few items that have been reasonably heavy (although not at 21,000lbs). I can say that it does a good job at limiting the aftershock of terrible roads that I have been on. It does a good job and is easily versatile to use with the adjustments available. The hitch should endure travels towing for quite a long time considering how well it is built.

by:

Best hitch ever... performs above and beyond as advertised. Will never use straight or drop hitch again. We pull our bobcat up the 4wd drive beaches of North Carolina which are often bumpy. This hitch separated the trailer movement from the truck. Well worth the money. Do it once and never do it again!

by:

Very nice, well built hitch, but the torsion part of it only works well when towing near the upper load limit of the hitch. Buy the same hitch without the torsion if you are not going to be pulling heavy loads near hitch capacity. You'll save lots!

by:

My brother and my son recommended this to me. I got to ride along with my son as he hauled a 10,000 lb. camper. Wow! I couldn’t believe the difference it made in the ride! The ride was so much smoother not to mention the wear and tear it saves on the tow vehicle! I’m impressed with the service from etrailer also. The package arrived in great condition, everything was there, and it even came a day earlier than expected! I highly recommend them!!!

by:

Great product
Takes away the jerking
sensations of speed bumps and the occasional pothole.
When you do hit a bump at speed it takes a while for the flexing to settle back into a smooth ride. I equate the feeling like being in a boat. Now that I’m used to it it’s hardly noticeable.

by:

Great hitch. Just makes my safety chains to short.

by:

I received my torsion hitch as promised from etrailer. The hitch is built with quality
And very simple to install. I will be using it for the first time in a coupe of days.

by:

Great service. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong item. I was bummed there was a restocking fee but it was my mistake so I cant be to mad. They were very responsive on correcting the order. Hitch definitely seems super well built.

by:

Excellent Quality, better driving while you with trailer and Made in USA.
I love it
Thanks to the company

by:

works great, heavy duty, good investment

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but this things a beast. For the manufacturer, you should put a couple of heavy stickers on it for the delivery guys, lol. Looks well built and can't wait to see how it acts with my camper.

by:

EASY AND SIMPLE PURCHASE THIS HITCH IS BADASS VERY STRONGLY BUILT

by:

Seems to be an impressive product. But even more impressed with the purchase experience. Great price, great freight policy, it was packed protectively and arrived way ahead of schedule. I’ll be looking for more products to buy from this etrailer.

by:

Solid product! etrailer sent this heavy item very quickly and I will look to do business with them again.

  • Is Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount Compatible With Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems?
Yes, you can use a Gen-Y Torsion ball mount such as # 325-GH-1226 with an Equal-i-zer weight distribution system though we do not recommend doing so; instead you can replace the shank on your system with the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # 325-GH-1202. In order to choose the best weight distribution system, you will first need to know your total tongue weight (TTW), which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go 2018 Airstream Classic 30 plus the weight of any...

  • Does the Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount 325-GH-1226 Stop Trailer Sway
Gen-Y Torsion Adjustable Receiver # 325-GH-1226 is a ball mount whereas an Equal-I-zer system is a weight distribution system with built-in sway control so really they are 2 different animals. The Gen-Y ball mount will help reduce vertical shock and stress and can reduce "porpoising" which is that rocking horse kind of feeling. But as far as reducing side to side sway it is not designed for that.

  • Does the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System Work w/ A Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount?
Yes, the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System item # BW78FR will work with the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount item # 325-GH-1226. The Continuum has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,600 lbs so you will be limited to 1,500 lbs of tongue weight with the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount. It tops out at 1,500 lbs and you always want to go off of the lowest rated component.
